Noah Super Bowl Spot – The flood is coming for Russell Crowe

January 31, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s been reported that there will be fewer Super Bowl TV spots for movies this year, but one of the films that’s getting one is Noah, and they’ve certainly ensured it look pretty epic. It also gives us a peek at the films tweaked animals and the angels that will play a role in the movie.

The film follows Noah (Russell Crowe), who lives on a vast plain of volcanic ash in the lee of a volcanic glacier (the movie was largely shot in Iceland) and has to trek up a mountain every day to get to work. He is told by God to build an enormous vessel to house both his family and the animals of the world to preserve them from a flood that promises to wipe out a sin-filled world.

It’s currently due for release on March 28th, 2014. [Read more…]

David O. Russell Eyes Jennifer Lawrenxce To Star In Miracle Mop Inventor Biopic

January 31, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

In the past few people worked with David O. Russell more than once, partly due to the fact he was renowned for having a fiery temper. However it appears he’s become easier to deal with as American Hustle was filled with actors on their second go round with the director.

That included Jennifer Lawrence, who had a particularly good reason to return, having just won an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook, and some now suggesting she could get another for Hustle. It seems Russell isn’t done with her, as Deadline reports the director is eyeing a biopic of Joy Mangano and he wants Lawrence to star.

Mangano was ‘a struggling Long Island single mom of three who became one of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs with her self-wringing Miracle Mop invention.’ Annie Mumolo wrote the script about a woman who was working three jobs to try and support her family, and had to fight to get her invention recognised, but it eventually became a home shopping sensation, including becoming one of the Home Shopping Network’s most successful presenters.

There’s no news on when it might shoot, or indeed whether Lawrence will be able to fit the movie around her Hunger Games commitments.

However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

‘Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Felicity Jones Up For Comedic Romeo & Juliet Tale, Rosaline

January 31, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

felicity-jonesRosaline feels like it’s been in development for a long time, but it’s now moved a step closer to the screen with the news that Felicity Jones is in early talks to join Universal’s upcoming comedic take on Shakespeare’s classic Romeo and Juliet, called Rosaline.

The movie is set in the period of the play but uses modern language. It is being told from the viewpoint of Rosaline, Romeo’s first flame. She doesn’t actually appear in Shakespeare’s play, but is mentioned as someone Romeo was besotted with but she gets completely forgotten when he meets Juliet. The project is based on a novel by Rebecca Serle, called When You Were Mine.

Alex Timbers is directing from a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. An earlier verison of the movie had Michael Sucsy attached to direct, with Lily Collins, Deborah Ann Woll, Dave Franco and Allison Williams set to star. It’s not known if any of them are still involved.

January 31, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

thor-the-dark-world-uk-quadAfter Thor: The Dark World grossed $632 million around the world, it’s little surprise that Marvel has decided it’s worth giving the hero another solo outing. So shortly after it was revealed Joe & Anthony Russo have been hired for a third Captain America movie, it’s been revealed that Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost will write the script for Thor 2.

Kyle was one of the producers on Thor and Thor: The Dark World, while Yost worked on the script for  Thor: The Dark World.

Due to his extensive deal, Chris Hemsworth is set to returns as Thor, although no plot details have been revealed at this time.

Marvel head Kevin Feige had this to say about Craid Kyle moving from producer on several of their projects to writer, “I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years. His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World) at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor’s adventure.”

Of course, before Thor 3, the hero will return in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

Daniel Craig

Daniel Craig

We haven’t seen much of Daniel Craig since the gargantuan success of Skyfall – indeed the only upcoming movie IMDB has him listed for is the next 007 film. However now Variety reports that Craig has taken the lead in Courtney Hunt’s upcoming courtroom drama The Whole Truth.

No plot details have been release, but we do know he will be portraying a lawyer. Frozen River director Courtney Hunt is directing from a script by Nicholas Kazan. Richard Suckle will be producing with FilmNation handling foreign rights.

It’s not clear when it might shoot, although presumably it’ll be before Bond 24, which is due to film later this year.
