Simon Kinberg To Rewrite Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four Reboot

Fox’s reboot of Fantastic Four is slowly moving forward with the news that Simon Kinberg has been hired to rewrite the script, according to Variety. He joins a growing list, as Jeremy Slater, Michael Green, Seth Grahame-Smith and T.S. Nowlin have all worked on previous drafts.

However with reports that it’s pretty close to shooting, it’s likely Kinberg is only doing a polish, perhaps bringing it in line with Fox’s other superhero movies. He’s certainly well placed for that, having worked on X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Josh Trank will be directing the Fantastic Four remake, which is bringing the Marvel comics family a complete overhaul from the Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer from a few years ago. Created in 1961 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the group includes the scientist Mr. Fantastic, his wife the Invisible Girl, her brother the Human Torch and the Thing.

New The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Trailer Debuts

October 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As we were promised, a new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has arrived and it certainly looks pretty, showing of the visuals and action, as well as the return of old friends like Legolas and new character played by actors such as Evangeline Lily, Lee Pace and Luke Evans – the last two of which you can see in new banners above.

There’s also a few giant spider to look out for. But once again the dragon Smaug is only glimpsed in bits and pieces.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece “The Hobbit”, by J.R.R. Tolkien, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” continues the adventures of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.

It hits cinemas on December 13th.

Shia LaBeouf Is Looking Intense (& Pretty Hot) In A New Charlie Countryman Poster

October 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Shia LaBeouf is one of those people who seems to divide opinion over whether he talented and good-looking or ugly and a douche. However he’s looking pretty good in this poster, where he’s tipped sideways and looking very intense.

Here’s the brief synopsis for the film, which was once titled The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman: ‘Traveling abroad, Charlie Countryman falls for Gabi, a Romanian beauty whose unreachable heart has its origins in Nigel, her violent, charismatic ex. As the darkness of Gabi’s past increasingly envelops him, Charlie resolves to win her heart, or die trying.’

Mads Mikkelsen, Rupert Grint, Melissa Leo and Til Schweiger also star, with Fredrik Bond making his feature directorial debut with the movie. It’s out in the US in November.

Disney Plans Live-Action Cruella de Vil Film

October 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cruella-de-vilAfter the success of Alice In Wonderland, Disney has been making other live action movies based on characters that have appeared in its animated film, with the upcoming Maleficent and Cinderella. Now THR reports they’re planning a movie based around 101 Dalmatians villainess Cruella De Vil.

Glenn Close played the role in two live action films, but they were still based around the doggies, while this one will focus on the fur-loving mast herself.

Disney has hired Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote Cinderella and contributed to Maleficent, to pen the script, which is currently going by the title, Cruella. There’s no plot details, but it’s likely to focus on De Vil’s backstory.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair Movie Being Planned

October 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

narnia-dawn-treader-preview-poster1When it was announced they were making The Lion, The Witch & the Wardrobe, Walden Media said they wanted to shoot adaptations of all the Narnia books. However after disappointing box office for Prince Caspia, Disney dropped out as Walden’s partner.

For a while it seemed the dream had died, but then Fox stepped up to make Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. After that didn’t hit it particularly big it really seemed like it was the end for Narnia at the movie. However now it appear that Walden is no longer involved, but The Mark Gordon Company has signed up to develop a movie based on The Silver Chair, alongside The C.S. Lewis Company.

Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis stated, “I have a great deal of respect for Mark Gordon’s work and am confident that together we can bring the beauty and magical delight that Narnia engenders in the hearts of those who read the books to the screen in ‘The Silver Chair.’ I am very much looking forward to diving once more into Narnia, this time with Mark Gordon and his team.”

However it’s a long way from actually making it to the screen, as at the moment there’s no studio partner and it’s not clear where the financing would come from – or indeed if any of the earlier cast will be back.

New The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Banner Arrives

September 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has released a new banner, showing off Bilbo and some of the dwarves, with plenty of cobwebs to suggest what they are up against. Along with the banner, we’ve also been promised that a brand new trailer will hit on Tuesday.

And it seems there are only two colours for Middle Earth posters – yellow and brown, or tinged with blue. Seriously, take a look at the Lord Of The Rings ones and you’ll see what I mean.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece “The Hobbit”, by J.R.R. Jennifer Lawrence Brandishes Her Bow In The Final Hunger Games: Catching Fire Poster

September 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hunger-games-catching-fire-poster2It’s just under two months until we can go back into the arena when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits cinemas on November 22nd. Now the final poster is here, with Jennifer Lawrence looking pretty badass while brandishing her bow.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

‘THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE opens on November 22, 2013.’

The Falls: Testament Of Love Trailer – First look at the gay mormon sequel

September 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac 7 Comments

Back in April we reported that director Jon Garcia was seeking funding for a follow-up to his great gay-themed flick, The Falls. Well, he got the cash and the movie will premiere on October 5th at the Portland Lesbian & Gay Film Festival, with a US DVD release set for November.

The first film followed young Mormon missionaries RJ and Chris, who fall for one another despite the fact they know they risk excommunication if their relationship is discovered.

The sequel, ‘picks up five years after the doomed romance between Mormon missionaries RJ and Chris. Though their lives have taken radically different paths, the death of a mutual friend unexpectedly reunites the two men at a time when both are attempting to establish their adult lives. As old feelings of love and regret are rekindled, RJ and Chris must once again confront their seemingly impossible love. Will their reunion prove that they’re fated to be together, or is it merely a temporary fantasy?’

The trailer makes it seem like it’ll be well worth a look, with one of the men having embraced his sexuality, while the other has put the church first and done his best to be straight, complete with wife and kid.

Hugh Jackman Joins Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie

September 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hugh-jackman-600pxWhile there was a big gap between District 9 and Elysium, Neill Blomkamp is working quicker this time around, hoping to shoot Chappie early next year. Sharlto Copley and Dev Patel have already signed on to star, and now Hugh Jackman has revealed he’ll be in the movie too.

Hugh announced the news during a press conference for Prisoners Zurich Film Festival, where he is receiving the Golden Icon Award, saying that “I am doing a role in Neill’s new film, called Chappie, which we shoot in Johannesburg. I’m there for a couple of weeks at the beginning of next year.”

He wouldn’t give any specifics about the character, the story is about an android (Copley), who is captured and re-programmed by two South African gangsters (Die Antwoord’s Ninja Visser and Yolandi Visser) for their own nefarious purposes. Bleeding Cool suggests that Hugh Jackman is playing a resourceful CEO who ends up on the wrong side of these gangsters. Dev Patel also stars in an unspecified role.

The film will be out on March 27th, 2015 release date.
