Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 Will Be ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pirates-4-poster2When Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End was released, it was said Disney wanted to make a fifth film as soon as possible, but with the script taking longer than expected, Johnny Depp’s busy schedule and a change of director, it’s taken a while to get it ready.

However things are now moving forward with directors Joachim Rø and Espen Sandberg (the Oscar-winning duo behind the international thriller Kon-Tiki), and reports that it’s likely to start shooting early next year. A July 10th, 2015 release is already set.

However nobody has known what it was going to be called, but now the directors have let it slip in an interview with This Is Infamous. They told the site it will be called Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. It its cue from the original Disneyland theme park attraction upon which it’s based, as Dead Men Tell No Tales has been the introduction on the Pirates ride at Disneyland since it first debuted in 1967.

There’s still no info on what the exact plot is though. The directors did, however, reveal that this latest chapter will serve as a stand-alone adventure while tying into the overall mythology of the franchise as it currently stands.

Casey Affleck Reuniting With David Lowery & Going Sci-fi With To Be Two

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

casey-affleckCasey Affleck and director David Lowery recently teamed for Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, and now THR reports that they are getting together again for the sci-fi adaptation To Be Two.

Lowery will also write the script, based on the short story To Be Two or Not To Be by Paul Broks. It is set in a world where teleportation exists. Humans get scanned and then a digital version is sent to Mars where they are reconstructed atom by atom. The original person then has to be destroyed on Earth. The story deals with an accident where the original human isn’t destroyed, leaving one human on Earth and an exact duplicate on Mars. The adaptation is said to have the same tone as director Rian Johnson’s Looper.

Affleck is attached to star and executive produce with David Lowery, Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston. Jim Wilson is producing and financing the development through his Silver Reel company.

New Thor: The Dark World Pics Show Off Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston & More

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

thor-2-empire-pic9
Empire has gone slightly Thor: The Dark World crazy, with four different covers for the film with their new issue. They’ve also a slew on new pics from the film, showing off the world of Asgard, along with the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander and loads more.

It’s also our best look yet at Christopher Eccleston under a load of make-up as the evil Malekit, as well as his minions.

And don’t expect everyone to survive this film, as director Alan Taylor has revealed,”You know, we are killing Asgardians in this movie. It turns out immortality isn’t all that it was cracked up to be.”
Hopefully that isn’t the reason Loki isn’t in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, as there will be a lot of angry fans if it is.

Producer Craig Kyle also spoke about how the events of Thor lead into Thor: The Dark World. “When the Bifrost was broken at the end of the first film, Odin had to conjure a lot of dark energy and go through a lot of personal sacrifice to try and get his son back to Earth,” he says. “And it was a one-shot deal. If Thor didn’t succeed, without the Tesseract he couldn’t have got back again. And in our film, finally the Bifrost has been rebuilt, but during that time, when the cops were largely cut off from the rest of the universe, you had miscreants that came in from outside the Nine Realms, pillaging and destroying and causing havoc. So that’s what our guys have been doing now – trying to put all these fires out across the Nine Realms.”

Thor: The Dark World is out November 8th, 2013.

Scott Cooper In Talks To Direct The Stand After Ben Affleck Drops Out

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Scott-CooperThe long saga of trying to make a movie out of Stephen King’s The Stand continues with the news that Ben Affleck has dropped out of the director’s seat. Warner isn’t dropping the film though, as Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) is already in early talks to take the helm, according to THR.

Affleck is out due to his commitment to starring in Gone Girl and yesterday’s news that he is playing Batman in Man of Steel 2. Warner Bros. and CBS Films had to move fast to find a replacement, as they have a limited window in which they can make the adaptation before losing the rights.

The story is set in a post-apocalyptic Earth after a synthetic plague wipes out most of humanity. It followd a group of survivors fighting the nefarious Randall Flagg. The novel was originally released in 1978, but the author re-released it in 1990, revising and adding portions to the story. David Kajganich (The Invasion) is writing the screenplay adaptation.

The Stand did previously become a two-part TV mini-series in 1994, but this will be the first time it’s come to the big screen.

Matt Damon & George Clooney Get A Monuments Men Poster

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

monuments-men-poster1
George Clooney is back in the director’s chair for The Monuments Men, and now a new poster for the movie has arrived, shoeing off Clooney alongside co-stars such as Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bob Balaban, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin, and Hugh Bonneville.

There’s no woman in the poster (it is the Monuments Men, after all), but Cate Blanchett also stars.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is an action-thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed?  But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.’

It’s due out in the US on December 18th, while it’ll arrive in the UK on January 9th.

Ong Bak Star Tony Jaa Up For Fast & Furious 7

August 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tony-JaaThai star Tony Jaa amazed many with his incredible stunts in the likes of Ong Bak, but it’s only now that he’s making his English-language debut, as Jaa has signed on for Fast & Furious 7, according to THR.

Details about the actor’s role are being kept under wraps, but the actor released the following statement via email from his home country of Thailand, “I have been a big fan of the Fast & Furious franchise. The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first U.S. studio production.”

When asked whether or not he would get a chance to fight with Vin Diesel or Dwayne Johnson, and who would win in a fight between himself and either of the action stars, the actor said, “Having a chance to work with Vin Diesel and The Rock already makes me a winner.”

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and MMA fighter Ronda Rousey are confirmed to star. James Wan is directing from a screenplay by Chris Morgan. Production will begin this September for release next year.

Ben Affleck Will Don Batman’s Cowl In Man Of Steel 2

August 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-affleckIn a move that’s surprised many, it’s been revealed that Ben Affleck has signed up to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in the as yet untitled, Man Of Steel 2. This will be an entirely new incarnation of the character rather than following on from the Christopher Nolan films and will bring Batman and Superman together for the first time on the big screen

Ben Affleck will star opposite Henry Cavill, who will reprise the role of Superman/Clark Kent. The film will also reunite Man of Steel stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Director Zack Snyder commented,”Ben Affleck provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry Cavill’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award Best Picture winning Argo, which he also directed and produced. However he hasn’t had a huge amount of luck in big, tentpole movies such as The Sum Of All Fears and his last superhero adventure, Daredevil. However he’s been okay when part of an ensemble, such as in Armageddon, so perhaps he’ll be alright here.

There are already many wondering if he’s the right choice for Batman, but that’s probably how it should be, as from Michael Keaton onward there’s been a history of fans wondering whether someone was right for the role.

Man Of Steel 2 is being scripted by David S. Goyer from a story he co-created with Zack Snyder. Filming is expected to begin in 2014, with a July 17, 2015 release date already set.

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment
