The First Han Solo Star Wars Story Cast Photo Arrives As Principal Photography Begins

February 21, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In case anyone was wondering whether Alden Ehrenreich has the right look to be Han Solo, the first cast photo has arrived, which actually shows him to be a better ringer for a young Harrison Ford than you might expect. The pic has arrived to mark the start on principal photography on the currently untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story on February 20th at Pinewood Studios.

According to the press release, ‘The movie will explore the duo¹s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directors co-piloting the movie, with a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”‘

The untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is set for release in May, 2018.

Fresh King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Trailer – Charlie Hunnam takes on the legendary tale

February 20, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While it looked for a while like Warner Bros. thought they had a flop with King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword and were going to dump the movie in a graveyard slot, they seem to have warmed to the movie. It’s now getting a prime May release date, and the hype is growing with the release of a new trailer.

Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Eric Bana star in the movie, which will follow the King in ‘an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.”

The movie is set for release in May. The movie was originally set to be the start of a whole Knights Of The Roundtable franchise, with each movie focussing on a different knight. At the moment that’s been put on the backburner, but expect it to be resurrected if Legend Of The Sword is a success. [Read more…]

Mine Trailer – Armie Hammer must stand still for 52 hours to survive

February 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Poor old Armie Hammer, he’s not having a very good time in Mine. But it does give him a bit of chance to showcase his talent, as for much of the running time he’s alone on-screen, barely able to move.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘This action-packed military thriller stars Armie Hammer (FREE FIRE, THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.) as a U.S. soldier who, stranded in the desert for 52 hours after a mission falls apart, must fight for survival against his enemies, the hostile environment, and the creeping psychological toll of his treacherous situation. Annabelle Wallis (ANNABELLE, THE MUMMY) and Tom Cullen (WEEKEND) co-star in this tense, explosive film from the producer of BURIED and THE CONJURING.’

The movie got some good reviews coming out of Sundance, so with echoes of Buried and 57 Hours it looks like it might be worth a watch. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Song To Song Trailer – Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender & Natalie Portman star in Terrence Malick’s latest

February 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Never one to do the conventional thing, director Terrence Malick shot Song To Song (until recently known as Weightless) back to back with Knight Of Cups. While that movie came out in 2015, Malick decided to work and rework Song To Song, while also working on his documentary Voyage Of Life.

Now though the film is finally on its way, with a trailer released.

Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Michael Fassbender, and Natalie Portman play the central roles, with Benicio del Toro, Haley Bennett, Clifton Collins Jr., Holly Hunter, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, and Angela Bettis also making appearances. It’s known the likes of Trevante Rhodes and Boyd Holdbrook also filmed scenes, although a no one has seen the finished version yet, it’s not clear if they’ll make the final cut.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) — chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.’ Take a look at the trailer below. New Power Rangers Trailer – The Mighty Morphers return to fight Elizabeth Banks

February 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Shiny lycra, men in monster suits, stunningly cheap looking special effects – that’s what Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is all about, right? Well, not any more, as for its movie reboot it’s been given a bigger budget and some far better production values.

Now the new trailer has arrived to give us a fresh look at the new Rangers, as well as Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, and Bryan Cranston as Zordon. You can take a look below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.’

The movie will be in cinemas in late March. [Read more…]

Colossal Trailer – Anne Hathaway discovers she’s mentally linked to a monster attack

February 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Colossal debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, it got a bit of a mixed reaction, partially because it seemed some critics didn’t quite know what to make of it. Now a trailer has arrived, which suggests that perhaps they can’t be blamed for being a little perplexed, as it looks like a strange one.

Anne Hathaway plays Gloria, an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé (Dan Stevens), decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown. But when news reports surface that a giant lizard is destroying Seoul, Gloria comes to realise that she is connected to these far-off events via the power of her mind. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

And as this trailer shows, that’s when it gets really bizarre.

Jason Sudeikis also stars, with Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes) directing. Take a look below. [Read more…]

Donald Glover & James Earl Jones Join Live-Action Lion King Remake

February 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Disney is being remaking just about every animated movie it’s ever made as a live action project. So far it’s been far more successful than anyone expected, as even some that seemed like bad ideas, such as The Jungle Book, turned into a huge hit. The Lion King however is another proposition again, as it doesn’t have any humans in it at all, but with the stage version being a colossal success, it shows it certainly has potential in the live-action arena.

Now Disney is moving forward with the movie, with Jungle Book helmer Jon Favreau set to direct and the cast coming together. Favreau has now revealed that Donald Glover has come onboard to be Simba, while James Earl Jones will return to the Savannah, once more playing Mufasa.

So far the movie doesn’t have a release date, but with casting underway, it seems likely the movie will shoot this year, probably for release in 2019 – after all, it’s going to need an awful lot of special effects work, which will inevitably take some time. Take a look at Favreau’s tweets announcing the news below. [Read more…]

Jared Leto Will Make His Directing Debut With 77, About The Patty Hearst Kidnapping

February 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For quite a while Jared Leto has been interested in directing, helming music videos and commercials (often under the name Bartholomew Cubbins), as well as the documentary Artifact. Now he’s decided it’s time to make his feature directing debut.

Variety reports that he’s signed up to be behind the camera for 77, which comes with an original screenplay by the illustrious author of L.A. Confidential, James Ellroy, with revisions by David Matthews.

As for the plot, it’s,’set in politically charged 1974 Los Angeles, centers around two police officers who team up to recover kidnapped heiress Patty Hearst while simultaneously investigating the brutal murder of a fellow officer. They uncover not only relentless corruption and crime but a dark and violent conspiracy as well.

‘Hearst hid out in Los Angeles that year with her kidnappers from the Symbionese Liberation Army but managed to escape before six SLA members were gunned down in a shootout with the LAPD. She remained on the lam for more than a year before being captured.’

It’s not known when the movie might shoot.

Sam Raimi Is Planning A Movie About The Bermuda Triangle

February 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sam Raimi has been taking his time between movies. After three Spider-man films in five years between 2002 and 2007, we’ve only had Drag Me To Hell and Oz the Great and Powerful in the last decade. While he has several things in the works, he’s just added another as THR reports that he’s teaming up with Skydance Productions for a movie about the Bermuda Triangle.

There’s no details about the plot of the film, but it will inevitably revolve around the area between Bermuda, Miami and Puerto Rico, where legend says ships, planes and anything else that enters it can disappear even in calm seas. It’s not the only film about the supposed phenomenon in the works, as Universal and Warner Bros. are also working on Bermuda Triangle movies.

Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard wrote the script for the movie Raimi is attached to, which is described as a mystery thriller. The film has been in the works for several years, with Skydance hoping that Raimi’s involvement will finally get it made.
