Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge Teaser – Captain Sparrow & co. are back

October 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pirates-of-the-caribbean-5-teaser-slideEver since it was officially announced, the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie has been titled Dead Men Tell No Tales. It’s still called that in the US, but for some reason it’s been retitled in the UK, as Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge. I’m not quite sure how that’s any better.

The news of the new title accompanies the first teaser for the movie, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.’

It’ll be in cinemas next May. [Read more…]

New The Space Between Us Trailer – Asa Butterfield is heading into space for love

October 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

space-between-us-slideA couple of years ago Asa Butterfield was in space as the talented title character in Ender’s Game. Now he’s going back for The Space Between Us, a sci-fi teen love story. It also has a slight feel of the sort of existential science fiction the 1970s gave us.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Described as being a “star-crossed science fiction love story,” The Space Between Us follows two teens from different worlds. Gardner Elliot, the first human born on Mars, is secretly raised in an experimental colony after his astronaut mother dies during childbirth. Sixteen years later, Gardner begins an online romance with a girl living in Colorado and hatches a plan to travel across the universe to meet her. Now, on the run, with Earth’s gravity threatening his very existence, Gardner must race against time and nature to find his love and win her heart. Once united, the two teens venture to seek out the enigmatic billionaire who funded the original expedition to Mars, in hopes of uncovering information about Gardner’s mother and the mysterious circumstances surrounding how Gardner came into existence.’

Take a look at the trailer below. The movie will be out in the UK 10th February, 2017. [Read more…]

Rules Don’t Apply Trailer – Warren Beatty becomes Howard Hughes

October 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rules-dont-apply-slideMartin Scorsese may have felt he created the ultimate Howard Hughes biopic with The Aviator, but Warren Beatty disagrees, as he’s bringing us Rules Don’t Apply. Beatty directs the movie, and also plays the lead role of the eccentric billionaire.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An aspiring young actress (Lily Collins) and her ambitious young driver (Alden Ehrenreich) struggle hopefully with the absurd eccentricities of the wildly unpredictable billionaire (Warren Beatty), who they work for.

‘It’s Hollywood, 1958. Small town beauty queen and devout Baptist virgin Marla Mabrey (Collins), under contract to the infamous Howard Hughes (Beatty), arrives in Los Angeles. At the airport, she meets her driver Frank Forbes (Ehrenreich), who is engaged to be married to his 7th grade sweetheart and is a deeply religious Methodist. Their instant attraction not only puts their religious convictions to the test, but also defies Hughes’ #1 rule: no employee is allowed to have any relationship whatsoever with a contract actress. Hughes’ behavior intersects with Marla and Frank in very separate and unexpected ways, and as they are drawn deeper into his bizarre world, their values are challenged and their lives are changed.’

Zac Efron Is Heading For Wall Street & Going Straight To Hell

October 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

we-are-your-friendsZac Efron is putting his producers hat on, as Variety reports that he’s Zac Efron developing and may star in a movie loosely based on John LeFevre’s book, Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance, Debauchery, and Billion-Dollar Deals.

The film will be another trip to the shady side of Wall Street, as the book is based on LeFevre’s own experiences, ‘offering a dark yet humorous account of his life as a high-profile investment banker.’ It’s not known how the movie might change things, although as it’s already being billed as a loose adaptation, it’s safe to say they’ll make a few changes, while still showing us the seductive world of big money and excess that resulted in financial implosion.

Paramount Pictures is backing the movie, with John M. Phillips writing the script. It’s not known when it might shoot.

Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley & More Joining Murder On The Orient Express Remake

October 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

johnny-deppFor almost a year, Kenneth Branagh has been putting together a new film version of Murder On The Orient Express, with himself in the lead role of Hercule Poirot. A few months ago he had Angelina Jolie interested in starring, but she’s since backed out.

However, he’s now got a raft of great names signing on, with the likes of Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Pena joining the movie, along with Lucy Boynton, Tom Bateman, Derek Jacobi, and Leslie Odom Jr.. It certainly suggests he wants to follow the lead of the star-studded 1974 version, which featured Lauren Bacall, Albert Finney, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman, John Gielgud, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael York and Jacqueline Bisset.

Christie’s novel is about a death on the world’s most famous train, when a man known as Mr. Ratchett is stabbed 12 times and killed. Hercule Poirot, who happens to be travelling on the Orient Express, starts to investigate, discovering that many people could be the culprit. Branagh’s version will start shooting in November.

Star Trek Beyond’s Justin Lin To Direct Hot Wheels Movie

October 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

justin-linOnce upon a time Hollywood only bought books and comics to be made into series, before moving on to other things that had built-in stories and characters. However, more recently, it seems that as long as it’s got a name people will recognise, Tinsel Town will make a movie about it.

That certainly seems to be why they’re planning a movie based around Hot Wheels cars. However, they seem to be pretty serious about it, as Star Trek Beyond and Fast & Furious helmer Justin Lin has just signed a deal to direct the movie.

It’s still early days though, as the film doesn’t have a writer and it’s not even expected to be Lin’s net movie. However, Mattel and Legendary Films thinks there’s enough brand recognise and love of vehicles moving fast, that it can build a successful family franchise around Hot Wheels – and of course sell a lot of extra toys too.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Final Trailer – Plus news of a special fan event featuring new footage & a Q&A

September 28, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fantastic-beasts-final-poster-slideAt one point, Deathly Hallows was the end. Now we’ve got a new Harry Potter play – Cursed Child – playing in London, and the imminent film spin-off, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, is on its way. The latter has now released its final trailer, which looks great – familiar enough to those who love everything Potter, while also promising something new.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Theory of Everything”) stars in the central role of wizarding world magizoologist Newt Scamander, under the direction of David Yates, who helmed the last four “Harry Potter” blockbusters.

‘“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.’

It’s also been announced that fans Will Be Treated to a Special Preview of New Footage From the Film in IMAX, and Can Be Part of a Live Interactive Q & A With the Stars and Director. The worldwide fan event will kick off on Thursday, October 13th, at 8:30 p.m. GMT (3:30 p.m. EDT, 12:30 p.m. PDT) and simultaneously in major cities in the U.S. and internationally.

Fences Trailer – Denzel Washington & Viola Davis bring the Pulitzer Prize-winning play to the screen

September 27, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fences-slideJust from watching this trailer, it’s a decent bet Fences will be lining a few Oscar nomination in a few months time. Indeed, Denzel Washington (who both stars and directs) and Viola Davis already look like shoo-in for noms.

Here’s the synopsis of August Wilson‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play the film is based on: ‘Troy Maxson, is a strong man, a hard man. He has had to be to survive. Troy Maxson has gone through life in an America where to be proud and black is to face pressures that could crush a man, body and soul. But the 1950s are yielding to the new spirit of liberation in the 1960s, a spirit that is changing the world Troy Maxson has learned to deal with the only way he can, a spirit that is making him a stranger, angry and afraid, in a world he never knew and to a wife and son he understands less and less.’

The film will be in cinemas at the end of the year. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Trespass Against Us Trailer – Michael Fassbender wants out of the outlaw life

September 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

trespass-against-us-slideMichael Fassbender plays so many role where he had to use accents, it sometimes a surprise when you hear him speak with his own natural Irish brogue. However, he gets to use it in Trespass Against Us, set amongst the Irish traveller community living in Britain.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Trespass Against Us is set across three generations of the Cutler family who live as outlaws in their own anarchic corner of Britain’s richest countryside. Chad Cutler (Michael Fassbender) is heir apparent to his bruising criminal father, Colby (Brendan Gleeson) and has been groomed to spend his life hunting, thieving and tormenting the police. But with his own son, Tyson (Georgie Smith) coming of age, Chad soon finds himself locked in a battle with his father for the future of his young family. When Colby learns of Chad’s dreams for another life he sets out to tie his son and grandson into the archaic order that has bound the Cutler family for generations. He engineers a spectacular piece of criminal business involving a heist, a high-speed car chase and a manhunt, which leaves Chad bruised and bloodied and with his very freedom at stake.’

There’s no release date current set. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]
