‘Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not.  In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.

June 28, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jamie-dornan-9th-life-of-louis-drax-pic1Jamie Dornan isn’t spending all his time in the Red Room of Fifty Shades Of Grey, as before the sequel to that movie arrives, he’s starring in the thriller The 9th Life Of Louis Drax. The first trailer for the movie has now arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After surviving eight near-death accidents throughout his unlucky life, Louis Drax [Aiden Longworth] plunges off a steep cliff on his ninth birthday. While police investigate the cause of Louis’ near-fatal fall and the whereabouts of his violent father Peter [Aaron Paul], acclaimed neurologist Dr. Allan Pascal [Jamie Dornan] uses unorthodox techniques to try to tap into the boy’s unconscious mind and reveal the truth about the events that led to his condition. But as he’s drawn deeper and deeper into the mystery of Louis’ seeming ability to cheat death, the doctor finds himself falling for Louis’ mother, Natalie [Sarah Gadon]. Ansel Elgort in Talks In Talks For Live Action Dungeons & Dragons Film

June 28, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ansel-elgortAnsel Elgort, star on the Divergent series and The Fault In Our Stars, may be entering the fantasy realm, as Deadline reports he’s in early talks to star in Warner’s planned Dungeons & Dragons film. It seems he’s not quite ready to sign on the dotted line though, but may well take the central role.

It’s not the first time the role playing game has taken to the big screen, although a 2000 movie starring Jeremy Irons bombed terribly. After that it got trapped in legal limbo while there was a fight over the film rights, but now that’s been sorted Warner Bros. has been keen to get a big budget fantasy based on the franchise going.

Not too much is known about the specifics of the movie, but Deadline adds, ‘Dungeons And Dragons is a fantasy adventure centering on a warrior and his band of mystical creatures as they embark on a dangerous journey to find a mythical treasure. It’s known that Vin Diesel has also expressed interest in being part of the film as he has been a fan of and played the game for more than 20 years.’

Rob Letterman (Monsters Vs. Aliens) is set to direct.

Another New Star Trek Beyond Trailer Arrives

June 27, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-trek-beyond-slideThe rebooted Star Trek has had plenty of success at the cinema, but one thing it’s been lacking is a five-year mission to seek out strange new worlds. However, now it seems it’s getting one, although as you would expect, as the crew of the USS Enterprise head off to strange new worlds, things don’t go smoothly.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘”Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew.  In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.’

The film will be in UK cinemas on July 22nd. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

New Inferno Trailer – Tom Hanks needs to stop a Dante-inspired plague

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

inferno-slideTom Hanks and director Ron Howard are back in the world of Dan Brown adaptations, with a movie that will hopefully sort out the mess that was Inferno (and that’s coming from someone who quite enjoyed the other Robert Langdon novels). The new trailer certainly isn’t too bad though.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.’

The movie will be out in cinemas in October. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

American Pastoral Trailer – Ewan McGregor makes his directorial debut with a Philip Roth adaptation

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

american-pastoral-trailer-slideIf you’re going to make your directorial debut, there are easier project than an adaptation of an acclaimed Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, by a man considered one of the great American living men of letters (especially if you’re British). However, that’s what Ewan McGregor has done with American Pastoral, based on Philip Roth’s novel, which he may have taken on partly due to the fact it was stuck in development hell due to a never-ending parade of directors coming and going.

Now a trailer has arrived to give us our first look at the movie.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning Phillip Roth novel, AMERICAN PASTORAL follows a family whose seemingly idyllic existence is shattered by the social and political turmoil of the 1960s. Ewan McGregor (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Beginners) makes his directorial debut and stars as Seymour “Swede” Levov, a once legendary high school athlete who is now a successful businessman married to Dawn, a former beauty queen. But turmoil brews beneath the polished veneer of Swede’s life.

‘When his beloved teenage daughter, Merry, disappears after being accused of committing a violent act, Swede dedicates himself to finding her and reuniting his family. What he discovers shakes him to the core, forcing him to look beneath the surface and confront the chaos that is shaping the world around him. AMERICAN PASTORAL also stars Academy Award® winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) as Dawn, Dakota Fanning (The Runaways, The Twilight Saga) as Merry, Emmy® winner Uzo Aduba (Orange Is the New Black), and Academy Award® nominee David Strathairn (Lincoln, Good Night, and Good Luck).’ [Read more…]

Ouija: Origin of Evil Trailer – The evils of the spirit board are back

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ouija-origins-of-evil-slideWhen a movie based on the Ouija board was announced, some took it as evidence that Hollywood had officially run out of ideas. However, when it was released the low budget (much lower than originally envisioned) grossed over $100 million worldwide, which was enough to get a sequel going. Now the trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It was never just a game. Inviting audiences again into the lore of the spirit board, Ouija: Origin of Evil tells a terrifying new tale as the follow-up to 2014’s sleeper hit that opened at number one. In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their séance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.’

It probably won’t be too surprising to hear that the film will be out just before Halloween. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

keeping-up-with-the-joneses-slideAs 30 Rock, Jon Hamm is a pretty good comedy actor, something he’ll hopefully get to show off in Keeping Up With The Joneses, alongside Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, as well as Isla Fisher and Zach Galafianakis. The trailer for the movie has now arrived, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An ordinary suburban couple (Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher) finds it’s not easy keeping up with the Joneses (Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot) – their impossibly gorgeous and ultra-sophisticated new neighbours – especially when they discover that Mr. and Mrs. “Jones” are covert operatives.’

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Trailer – Tom Cruise does go back because it’s a sequel

June 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jack-reacher-never-go-back-slideAfter a few years of rather lacklustre Tom Cruise movies, Jack Reacher was a bit of a breath of fresh air – an action movie/thriller that helped remind us why the actor became such a big star in the first place. It’s not too surprising therefore that he’s returning to the character in Never Go Back, which has just released its first trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back follows the title character as he returns to Virginia to meet the head of his former unit. But she’s missing, he’s being charged with a crime committed nearly 20 years ago, and he may even have a daughter. Making things right will lead him on a cross-country chase to uncover the truth – and maybe even a family.’

Ed Zwick directs the movie. It’ll be in cinemas in October. [Read more…]
