The Panzi Invasion Trailer – A documentary about the drag Invasion of the Pines, which you can watch for free now

July 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Panzi Invasion has screened at various places over the last year, but now it’s available to view online for free for a limited time. It’s not surprising it’s available now, as its looks at the last 40 years of the ‘Invasion Of The Pines’, when LGBT people descend on Fire Island on the July 4th weekend.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After forty years of fabulous drag queens, killer costumes and gender bending beauties; the political roots of the event may not be so obvious to those attending this annual July 4th celebration, but the message of equality and freedom are still as relevant today as when Panzi and a crew of protesters staged the original Invasion in 1976.

As gay rights have progressed, the Invasion has been used to take a satirical look at the world around us. Long before Congress was hashing out marriage equality, invaders were challenging the mainstream ideals and demanding change by fighting against bias, AIDS, sexism, bigotry and traditional gender roles.

It’s so much more than a day of drinking and drag. It is a tradition that honors those that came before us and it’s a glimpse into what the world would be like if we had true openness and independence.

Using both current and archival footage, we are guided through forty years of gaiety with local celebrities Panzi, Bianca Del Rio and Hedda Lettuce; as well as Grove residents and Invaders from around the world telling their personal stories.’

You can watch the film over at www.panzimovie.com. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

July 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

This summer Charlize Theron will once more be proving that she can kick ass with the best of them. Now a new trailer has arrived to give us a fresh look at the graphic novel inspired movie.

Breathe Trailer – Love conquers adversity for Andrew Garfield in Andy Serkis’ directorial debut

July 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘Andy Serkis (Jungle Book, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) makes his feature directorial debut with BREATHE. Based on a script by twice Academy Award-nominated writer William Nicholson (Everest, Les Misérables and Gladiator), BREATHE is an inspirational true story of love without limits.

‘Adventurous and charismatic, Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield – Hacksaw Ridge, Silence) has his whole life ahead of him when he is paralysed by polio whilst in Africa. Against all advice, Robin’s wife Diana (Claire Foy – Golden Globe Winner, The Crown, Wolf Hall) brings him home from hospital where her devotion and witty determination transcends his disability. Together they refuse to be imprisoned by his suffering; dazzling others with their humour, courage and lust for life. BREATHE is a heart-warming and highly emotional celebration of bravery and human possibility, a love story about living every breath as though it’s your last.

‘Based on the true story of producer Jonathan Cavendish’s own parents, BREATHE shows how Robin’s handling of and reaction to his illness had a huge impact on mobility and access for the disabled.

‘The film’s supporting cast members include Hugh Bonneville (Paddington and Downton Abbey) and Tom Hollander (Jungle Book and The Night Manager) as Robin’s devoted, long-time friends. Stephen Mangan (Rush) and acting legend Dame Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones, the original The Avengers) complete the cast with a soundtrack by the acclaimed composer Nitin Sawhney.

‘The film is produced by Jonathan Cavendish (Bridget Jones’s Diary) for The Imaginarium Studios. Financing is from Silver Reel, BBC Films and the BFI, brokered by Embankment Films.

England Is Mine Trailer – Young Morrissey gets a film biopic

July 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Morrissey is a musical figure beloved by many, so it’s not a surprise his early life is getting a biopic. However, what we don’t get to see from this biopic is whether the film will include his asexuality/humasexuality (the latter being the term he most recently used to describe himself).

Synopsis: ‘In 1970’s Manchester, Steven Morrissey (Jack Lowden – Dunkirk, A United Kingdom, ’71), an introverted, uncompromising teenager, finds himself frustrated with his working-class existence.

‘With dreams of a successful music career being dampened by his run-of-the-mill job at the local tax office, Steven finds solace in the city’s underground gig scene where he meets Linder Sterling (Jessica Brown Findlay – Downton Abbey, The Riot Club) – an intelligent, self-assured artist – who encourages him to make his ideas of superstardom a reality.

‘Culminating in his first meeting with Johnny Marr, ENGLAND IS MINE is a feature length origins story based on the early life of Morrissey, the outspoken former lead singer of seminal British band The Smiths. Directed by Academy Award and BAFTA Award nominated Mark Gill (The Voorman Problem) and produced by Baldwin Li (The Voorman Problem) and Orian Williams (Control), the film will have its world premiere at the closing night of this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival on Sunday 2nd July.

‘England Is Mine is in cinemas August 4.’ [Read more…]

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Trailer – Dwayne Johnson is a teen boy & Jack Black gets gender-swapped

June 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the last few months there’s been a lot of talk about how Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle will respect the original and follow the spirit of the Robin Williams movie and his character. However, this trailer suggests we’ll be dealing with a very different kind of film.

This time around a bunch of teens get morphed into a Jumanji videogame, which involves a nerdy teen boy becoming Dwayne Johnson, and a hot girl suddenly finding herself as Jack Black. And as the new trailer shows, the girl inside Jack has the hots for Johnson.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the brand new adventure Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the tables are turned as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, into the bodies of their avatars, played by Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan. What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji –Jumanji plays you. They’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…’

The movie is due out in December. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

My Little Pony Trailer – The talking horses are getting an animated movie

June 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a resurgence of interest in My Little Pony in recent years, mostly among younger people. However, recent series have also found favour with older audiences, most famously the ‘bronies’ – adult male fans who adore the franchise and its more recent incarnations. It’s renewed popularity has led to a new movie, which on the evidence of this trailer isn’t go to redefine animation quality, but does look insane enough to entertain some.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘My Little Pony: The Movie – Coming to cinemas October 20! The film has an all-star voice cast including Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba and Zoe Saldana. Featuring “Off To See The World” by Lukas Graham.

‘A new dark force threatens Ponyville, and the Mane 6 – Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity – embark on an unforgettable journey beyond Equestria where they meet new friends and exciting challenges on a quest to use the magic of friendship to save their home.’

Death Note Trailer – Adam Wingard takes on the classic manga with Nat Wolff & Willem Dafoe

June 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Back in 2014 it looked like we might be getting an adaptation of the classic Japanese Manga Death Note, directed by Good Will Hunting and Milk’s Gus Van Sant. That never happened, but now we’re getting one from Adam Wingard, the man behind You’re Next, The Guest, Blair Witch and the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong.

However, it’s already stirred controversy for changing the ethnicity and cultural origins of the characters, with petitions and calls for a boycott against the film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.

‘The Netflix original film is directed by Adam Wingard (Blair Witch, You’re Next) and stars Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers), Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out), Paul Nakauchi (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End), Shea Whigham (American Hustle) and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as the voice of Ryuk.’

The film will debut exclusively on Netflix on August 25th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

New Logan Lucky Trailer – Channing Tatum & Adam Driver star in Steven Soderbergh’s heist flick

June 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few years ago, director Magic Mike and Ocean’s 11 helmer Steven Soderbergh announced that he wasn’t going to direct any more feature films. However, as with his many earlier threats to retire, it’s turned out to be premature, as he’s now returning with Logan Lucky, his first film since 2013. The new movie has been described as being a bit of an anti-Ocean’s 11, with people going on a heist but stripping out the glamour.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) is from a blue-collar family from the hills of West Virginia, whose clan has been famous for its bad luck for nearly 90 years. After being fired from his job, and with his ex-wife (Katie Holmes) threatening to move out of State taking their daughter with her, Jimmy decides he has to do something to get his family’s life back on track. With a little help from his brother Clyde Logan (Adam Driver), his sister Mellie (Riley Keough) and an incarcerated explosive expert, the aptly named Joe Bang (Daniel Craig), he plans to steal $14 million from the Charlotte Motor Speedway on the busiest race day of the year.

irected by Academy Award-winner Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Magic Mike, Traffic), Logan Lucky also stars Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katherine Waterston, Sebastian Stan, and Brian Gleeson.’

Logan Lucky is out in the UK on August 25th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

A Bad Moms Christmas Trailer – Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn & Kristen Bell are back & as bad as ever

June 28, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I have to say, ‘A Bad Moms Christmas’ is an impressively rubbish title, but many will be hoping the follow-up to the 2016 comedy flick, Bad Moms, isn’t as bad as its name. The first trailer has now been released for the movie, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A Bad Moms Christmas follows our three under-appreciated and over-burdened moms (Amy, Kiki, and Carla) as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of Christmas in hopes of creating a more perfect holiday for their families. And if that wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their ultimate holiday foes: their own mothers. By the end of the journey, our moms have redefined how to make the holidays special for their families and it ends up bringing them closer to their own moms.

‘Starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski, Cheryl Ruth Hines, Peter Gallagher, Jay Hernandez and Wanda Sykes. A Bad Moms Christmas is written and directed by Jon Lucas & Scott Moore. A Bad Moms Christmas will be released across UK and Ireland by Entertainment Film Distributors on 3rd November’. [Read more…]

The Greatest Showman Trailer – Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams & Zac Efron enter a musical big top

June 28, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Despite the success of La La Land, big, Hollywood original musicals are still a rare thing. However, Hugh Jackman has one up his sleeve with The Greatest Showman, which even has songs from the team that created the tunes on La La Land. The first trailer suggest that while it may not exactly be historically accurate, it could be a lot of fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“The Greatest Showman” is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, “The Greatest Showman” tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. “The Greatest Showman” is directed by exciting new filmmaker, Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and starring Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Jackman is joined by Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams, Zendaya, Zac Efron and Rebecca Ferguson.’

The film will arrive in UK cinemas in on January 1st, 2018. Take a look at the first trailer below. [Read more…]
