Win Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows On Blu-ray

May 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows is available on Blu-ray Triple play, DVD and digital download 14th May. Pre-order here. And we’ve got hold of a copy of the film on Blu-ray for you to win!

Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room… until now. Filmmaker Guy Ritchie returns to direct Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, which stars two-time Academy Award® nominees Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law along with Rachel McAdams, Kelly Reilly, Eddie Marsan, Geraldine James, Jared Harris, Stephen Fry, and Noomi Rapace.

Around the globe, headlines break the news: a scandal takes down an Indian cotton tycoon; a Chinese opium trader dies of an apparent overdose; bombings in Strasbourg and Vienna; the death of an American steel magnate… no one sees the connective thread between these seemingly random events—no one, that is, except the great Sherlock Holmes, who has discerned a deliberate web of death and destruction. At its center sits a singularly sinister spider: Moriarty.

Holmes’ investigation into Moriarty’s plot becomes more dangerous as it leads him and Watson out of London to France, Germany and finally Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead, and moving perilously close to completing his ominous plan. If he succeeds, it will not only bring him immense wealth and power but alter the course of history. Read our review here.

While surfing the web one night, Marshall finds a site called eCupid, but little does he know that agreeing to its terms and conditions will result in it completely taking over his life. Before he knows it, his boyfriend has moved out and eCupid is providing a succession of guys who are perhaps a bit more than Marshall can handle. Soon he begins to realise that the grass on the other side may be filled with hot guys and endless parties, but he may have been completely ignoring the joys of what he had already. [Read more…]

It Could Happen To You – Heartbreaking documentary about equality goes viral

May 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s best not to say much about the 10-minutes documentary embedded above, other than to note that you might need more than a few tissues by the end of it. Made by Shane Bitney Crone about him and his boyfriend Tom, it’s a truly heartbreaking tale about the devastating consequences inequality can have.

It’s little surprise that in the three days since Shane released it on Youtube, its gone viral and been watched over 600,000 times. If this doesn’t make the case for equality and get you angry enough to act, nothing will, especially the day after North Carolina voters decided to enshrine in their constitution a provision against gay people being allowed to get married.

Passion Photo – Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace prepare to lock lips

May 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first image has arrived from Brian De Palma’s upcoming thriller Passion, which suggests there’s going to be a bit of homoeroticism in this tale of two women locked in a power struggle. The pic above features Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams looking rather noir.

Based on Alain Corneau’s film Crime d’amour, the film is ‘An erotic thriller in the tradition of “Dressed To Kill” and “Basic Instinct”, Brian de Palma’s PASSION tells the story of a deadly power struggle between two women in the dog-eat-dog world of international business. Christine possesses the natural elegance and casual ease associated with one who has a healthy relationship with money and power. Innocent, lovely and easily exploited, her admiring protégé Isabelle is full of cutting-edge ideas that Christine has no qualms about stealing. They’re on the same team, after all… Christine takes pleasure in exercising control over the younger woman, leading her one step at a time ever deeper into a game of seduction and manipulation, dominance and humiliation. But when Isabelle falls into bed with one of Christine’s lovers, war breaks out. On the night of the murder, Isabelle is at the ballet, while Christine receives an invitation to seduction. From whom? Christine loves surprises. Naked she goes to meet the mystery lover waiting in her bedroom…’

New Amazing Spider-man Trailer – Meet The Lizard

May 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sony has been promising it all week and now it’s here, the rather groovy brand new international trailer for The Amazing Spider-man, which gives us out best look at the movie yet, including the villainous Lizard. Earlier today the first official in-movie shots of the character were released (taken from the trailer) and you can see those below.

Here’s the latest synopsis: ‘One of the world’s most popular characters is back on the big screen as a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in The Amazing Spider-Man™. Focusing on an untold story that tells a different side of the Peter Parker story, the new film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, with Martin Sheen and Sally Field. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay written by James Vanderbilt, based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach are producing the film in association with Marvel Entertainment for Columbia Pictures, which will open in theatres everywhere in 3D.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.’

New The Dark Knight Rises Trailer – The Bat is back

May 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With all the excitement over The Avengers, film fans forgot about The Dark Knight Rises for five minutes, which is probably a good thing as the movie is in danger of reaching hype levels it can’t possibly live up to. Now a new trailer has popped up giving us our best look at the movie yet. The trailer suggests the film will be a grand spectacle and it’s interesting that Chris Nolan is using bridges again, something that’s been a theme through the earlier two movies.

Despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent’s crimes, Batman feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with the villainous Bane’s plans to destroy the city. And then there’s also the mysterious Selina Kyle. The film hits cinemas July 20th.

New Prometheus International Trailer – Loads of awesome new footage

April 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Quite frankly, the moment they called their ship the Prometheus they should have known they were in trouble. After all, in Greek mythology Prometheus ended up have his liver being eaten by an eagle for all eternity while he was chained to a rock, in punishment for stealing fire from the gods. However, while they should have probably picked a better name, the movie looks awesome, and now a new three-minute international trailer have arrived, which premiered last night on UK TV and is now available online. There’s loads of new footage, including plenty of intriguing links as to how it will be linked to Alien. It’s undoubtedly exciting, and we only have a few weeks to wait, as the film is due in cinemas June 1st.

Avengers Assemble (Cinema)

April 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr.
Director: Joss Whedon
Running Time: 143 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: April 26th, 2012

After years of build up, it’s finally here. While fanboys have long worried The Avengers (or Avengers Assemble as Disney wants us to call it in the UK, apparently because Brits are incapable of telling the difference between a 1960s TV show and a 2012 superhero movie) couldn’t live up to the hype, Joss Whedon has delivered.

It’s an action packed, rip-roaring juggernaut of a film, which pulls off the impressive trick of perfectly balancing a large ensemble cast, so that it feels as if everyone is there for a reason and has their own character arc. [Read more…]

Equal Marriage Viral Vid ‘Homecoming’ Launched

April 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If you don’t support equal marriage, you hate our troops! Well, that’s not really what the new viral vid, Homecoming, is all about, even though it almost is. The Coalition For Equal Marriage short film, from director Mike Buonaiuto, tells the touching story of a British soldier’s homecoming to his partner, and was made to support marriage equality while the UK Coalition Government is holding its consultation on whether to open civil marriage up to same sex partnerships.

Buonaiuto says, “What do you do when the government says they are going to change the marriage laws in the UK? Those against the idea will of course go to any lengths to let David Cameron know how they feel, while many who support the idea sit back and do nothing, and why shouldn’t they? The government has made the commitment to change. However, I would argue that if enough support isn’t shown for the consultation then who knows what will happen.

“The apathy within the communities that support the equalization of civil marriage is the single driving factor for making the film and why hundreds of talented professionals have helped us for free. The film is there to make audiences feel something about the issue, because when people feel something they do something about it.  They don’t sit back. They don’t do nothing. They share, they support and they take notice.”

One thing I have noticed in all the gay viral vids is how insanely cute all the guys in them are. Does this mean that even if they change the law, ugly gay people still won’t be allowed to marry? Perhaps next we need to make a viral vid about that!

Chris Evans Says He’s ‘Embarrassed’ By Marriage Inequality

April 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Avengers star Chris Evans has long been an ally of the gays, partly because his brother prefers boys to girls (Chris accidentally outed his bro to The Advocate in 2009). While promoting his latest superhero mash-up, the insanely hot actor has been talking to Playboy and touched on the subject of marriage equality.

He says, “It’s insane that civil rights are being denied people in this day and age. It’s embarrassing, and it’s heartbreaking. It goes without saying that I’m completely in support of gay marriage. In 10 years we’ll be ashamed that this was an issue.”

Go for it Chris, and hopefully he’ll turn out to be right!
