New The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Trailer – Henry Cavill & Armie Hammer are looking cool

June 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

man-from-uncle-poster1Having rebooted Sherlock Holmes for a new generation, Guy Ritchie is now bringing the classic 60s series The Man From U.N.C.L.E., with Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer taking over from Robert Vaughn and David McCallum in the lead roles.

Now the main trailer has arrived, along with a poster.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin in director Guy Ritchie’s “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series.

‘Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.

‘“The Man from U.N.C.L.E” also stars Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”), with Jared Harris (“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”), and Hugh Grant as Waverly.’

The film will be in UK cinemas August 14, 2015. [Read more…]

Zootopia Teaser Trailer – First footage from the Disney animation

June 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zootopia-character-pic1-slideYesterday we posted the first image from Disney’s Zootopia, and now that’s been followed by a teaser trailer that introduces us to more of the movie’s animal society, although here they seem to exist in some sort of Matrix training zone.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The modern mammal metropolis of Zootropolis is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootropolis,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in cinemas Spring, 2016.

“It’s a nod to the great Disney animated animal films we all grew up with, but with a funny, contemporary twist,” said director Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”).” Our artists and animators did tons of research to integrate true animal behaviours into each of our characters. The world of Zootropolis is fantastic, infused with international flavour that will be relatable to everyone.”’ [Read more…]

The Program Trailer – Ben Foster is Lance Armstrong in Stephen Frears’ biopic

June 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

the-program-ben-fosterThe moment it became clear Lance Armstrong was finally going to admit to doping during his cycling career, Hollywood immediately jumped in and put several biopics in the works. The first to arrive is The Program, directed by Stephen Frears and with Ben Foster in the lead role.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award® nominated director Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena) and producers Working Title (The Theory Of Everything, Everest, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), comes the true story of the meteoric rise and fall of one of the most celebrated and controversial men in recent history, Lance Armstrong.

‘Inspired by the award winning book “Seven Deadly Sins” by David Walsh, and featuring a stellar cast including Ben Foster, Chris O’Dowd, Guillaume Canet (Tell No One) and Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad), this tense and suspenseful thriller looks at how one of the greatest deceptions in the modern era was uncovered while Armstrong convinced the world he was a hero, winning the Tour de France seven times.’

It’ll be out in the UK towards the end of the year. [Read more…]

Chris Hemsworth Will Man The Reception In The Ghostbusters Reboot

June 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Thor-Chris-HemsworthAnnie Potts has some competition. While she was the nasal-voiced reception in Ghostbusters 1 & 2 who busily flirted with Rick Moranis, for the female-focussed reboot, the person answering the phones will be Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth.

Director Paul Feig announced the news on Twitter with a pic of Chris and the message ‘Our receptionist.’

There’s not too many other details, although we can already see the ghostbusting quartet of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones swooning over the beefcake assistant.

The film is due to start shooting soon for release in 2016. [Read more…]

Trailing: Season 1 – The gay-themed web series takes a young man into politics

June 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

trailing-web-series-pic1We’re a little bit late with this one as it debuted a couple of months ago, but now that we’ve discovered Trailing we thought we’d share, as it’s funny, smartly done and manages to convey its satire in an effective but not overly pleased-with-itself way. While this isn’t a show all about being gay, it does have a gay protagonist, who has political ambitions – or at least political consulting ambitions.

In the show, ‘At a highly boutique NYC consulting firm –  a firm so boutique that its marquee client is running for Student Council President at the University of Phoenix –  one man must cater to his delusional boss’s every whim: STEVEN, a gay anti-hero for the post-Lewinsky generation.

‘Political consulting is a world where words are largely meaningless, and terrified hacks lurch from one manufactured crisis to the next. No campaign is too small, no press hit too minor. For the creative underclass, it’s a race to the bottom –  and on Election Day, a candidate is only as good as his most embarrassing typo.

‘Will this tiny firm win their client’s race for Queens Commissions Commissioner? Will Steven ever become a White House speechwriter? Will his boss start her free trial of Plated?’

As writer/creator Steven Phillips-Horst told Out, “This is a show with a gay protagonist. I hope that it’s fabulous because it’s feminist, sassy and fun, and has plenty of female characters. I hope that it’s not like Looking, or The Outs, or any other show that asks us to congratulate a gay filmmaker simply for accurately reflecting the insecurities and banalities of modern homosexuality. I think being gay is an opportunity to have a more compelling perspective on the world. I don’t want to squander that, or desexualize it. At the very least, I hope my greater friend group thinks I’m cool/thin.”

Take a look at all 7 episodes below, and find out more at Trailing’s official website. [Read more…]

Regression Trailer – Emma Watson & Ethan Hawke go into past memories

June 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

regression-posterLike Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson is showing there’s far more to her than Hogwarts, and that’s certainly true with the thriller Regression. Although on the surface it seems like a bit of a generic mystery thriller, the fact it’s directed by Alejandro Amenábar (The Others, Open Your Eyes) has to give us hope.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.’

The film is due out later this year.

Joe Carnahan May Helm Bad Boys 3

June 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bad-boys-2For years there’s been talk of Bad Boys 3, with both Martin Lawrence and Will Smith saying they’re open to the idea (which isn’t surprising in Lawrence’s case, as he hasn’t exactly got a huge amount else going on, movie-wise). However it’s been trapped in development hell, and the longer the delay, the less likely it’s seemed we’d ever actually see the movie.

Now though they’re breathing new life into the project, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer seemingly keen to get it back on track. While previously it looked like Michael Bay would return to direct, it now seems he’s passing the baton on, as TheWrap reports that A-Team and Stretch director Joe Carnahan is circling the film.

If he does sign on, he will initially rewrite the script by David Guggenheim (Safe House). The involvement of both Smith and Lawrence is dependent on that script, so it’s far from a done deal at the moment.

First Proper Look At Disney’s Animated Zootopia

June 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zootopia-character-pic1This year we’re getting two Pixar films, but to make room for that Disney animation has no big summer or autumn movie this year, but they’re gearing up for a March 2016 release on Zootopia.

While there’s been some concept art released before, now Disney has brought us the first proper picture of the two main characters, a fox and a rabbit, which, as you can probably tell, live in a highly anthropomorphised world.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the animal city of Zootopia, a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big goes on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia’s top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they’re forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends.’
