Ever since David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Sony has said they were going to produce a sequel, but they took a long time to decide exactly what they were going to do. Now it’s on its way, with Rooney Mara gone and The Crown’s actress Claire Foy taking over as Lisbeth Salander in a role that’s very different from her Netflix series persona.

Every so often Jamie Lee Curtis is convinced to return to the Halloween franchise – with mixed results. However, this time there’s a fair amount of interest in the new instalment, not just because of Curtis but because series creator John Carpenter is serving as a creative consultant and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, All The Real Girls, Stronger) is directing. He also co-wrote the script alongside Danny McBride.

Sadly this has nothing to do with Joss Whedon’s sci-fi series Firefly or its follow-up movie, also called Serenity. Instead it’s a stylised, sexy thriller which reunites Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway for the first time since Interstellar. Perhaps the best reason to be excited though is that it’s from writer and director Steven Knight (Locke, Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promises).

That’s the position Hollywood teen idol Tab Hunter found himself in, living one life publicly – incuding going on studio mandated dates with women – and another privately. Hunter recounted his experiences of coming to terms with his sexuality and his experiences of being a gay star in the 50s in his memoir, Tab Hunter Confidential: The Making of a Movie Star.
The 1937 movie A Star Is Born has already had two remakes (featuring Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand), and for several years another one has been in the works. At one point Clint Eastwood was directing with Beyonce slated for the central role. When that fell through, Bradley Cooper stepped in to both act in the movie and to make it his feature directorial debut, with Lady Gaga signed up to show off her acting skills.

Rather than just make more and more Transformers films, Paramount has decided it’s time for a spin-off, with the big, yellow Bumblebee getting him own film. Set before the recent set of robot movies, the new film will see what the autobot was up to in the 1980s.
