Old Dogs & New Tricks Season 3 Episodes 2&3 – Giving thanks for found families

November 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

old-dogs-s3-ep3The Old Dogs are back and it’s not coincidence the new season launched just before Thanksgiving, as Episode 3 is set during the holiday. You can watch that below, along with Episode 2, and if you need to catch up, you can watch Episode 1 by clicking here.

In Episode 2, Nathan (Leon Acord) receives a business proposal from arch nemesis Nelson Van Eddy (Bruce L. Hart) that they merge talent agencies.  It seems Nelson needs Nathan as much as Nathan needs cash!  Nathan then discovers a new romantic interest in former model/now multi-millionaire Jake Tyler (Curtis Wayne Brown).

Then it’s time for the holidays in Episode 3. In that the gang gather at Ross’ house for the holiday, Lydia (Amanda Gari) is thrilled to introduce the guys to her new boyfriend (Andy Gates). But despite her happiness and Ross’ recent good news, it seems she’s the only one in a festive mood.

While the guys rave about Nathan’s new beau Jake (Curtis Wayne Brown), Nathan (Acord) can’t stop wondering how Damian is spending the holiday.  Muscles (Jeffrey Patrick Olson) complains that dating Lucas is making him fat. Ross’ (David Pevsner)holiday is ruined when a drunken Neal (Parnell Damone Marcano) crashes.  And then Brad (Curt Bonnem) drops a bombshell:  he’s becoming a gigolo!

Watch them below. [Read more…]

Black Friday: A Gay Love Story Short Film – Thanksgiving gets a little romantic

November 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

black-friday-short-filmTomorrow people across the US will be celebrating Thanksgiving and preparing for the most important day of the year – Black Friday – when capitalism gets its own high holy holiday with the biggest shopping day of the year, complete with massive bargain.

With the celebrations in full swing, singer/songwriter Tom Goss and Dennis Hensley have come up with a fun little LGBT short film.

Goss has said that he and Hensley came up with the idea while chatting over coffee and pie about the ridiculousness of relationships and Black Friday consumerism.

The short tells the story of Chad (Hensley) and Claudio (Goss) who meet while waiting in line for Black Friday doorbuster deals.

Take a look below. [Read more…]

Cake Trailer – Jennifer Aniston gets serious for an indie drama

November 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jennifer-aniston-cakeAlthough we’ve got used to Jennifer Aniston popping up in Hollywood comedies, she’s actually done some really good work in the indie realm, although not for quite a few years. However now she’s back with the indie drama Cake, which is already giving her some excellent buzz.

The impressive cast also includes Anna Kendrick, Sam Worthington, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman, Chris Messina, and Adriana Barazza.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Claire Simmons (Jennifer Aniston) is in pain. Her physical pain is evident in the scars that line her body and the way she carries herself, wincing with each tentative step. She’s no good at hiding her emotional pain either. Blunt to the point of searing insult, Claire’s anger seethes out of her with nearly every interaction. She has driven away her husband, her friends — even her chronic-pain support group has kicked her out.

‘The only one left in Claire’s otherwise solitary existence is her housekeeper-cum-caretaker, Silvana (Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza), who barely tolerates her boss’ need for liquor and prescription pills. But the suicide of Nina (Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick), one of Claire’s fellow chronic-pain group members, prompts another fixation. In pursuing questions about the death of a woman she barely knew, Claire explores the boundaries between life and death, abandonment and heartbreak, danger and salvation. As she inserts herself into the lives of Nina’s husband (Sam Worthington) and the son Nina left behind, Claire just might find salvation.’ [Read more…]

Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie Poster Arrives

November 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Snoopy-and-Charlie-Brown-The-Peanuts-Movie-Teaser-posterIt’s a shame that in the UK, while everyone knows who Snoopy i, we never quite got to grips with the idea that Charles Schulz’s comic strip world is called Peanuts. As a result next year’s CGI movie has to go by the rather verbose title, Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie, while the US just gets ‘Peanuts’.

Now a new poster has arrived giving a new take on the classic image of Snoopy on top of his doghouse.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘For the first time ever, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang we know and love from Charles Schulz’s timeless “Peanuts” comic strip will be making their big-screen debut; like they’ve never been seen before in CG-Animated Feature film in 3D.’

Out Gay Hunger Games Producer Thinks Being In The Closet In Hollywood Is For Wimps

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nina-jacobsonNina Jacobson is one of Hollywood’s real power players, having helped oversee movie such as Pirates Of Caribbean and The Sixth Sense as a studio executive at Disney, before going out on her own and producing the massively successful Hunger Games movies.

She is also an out gay woman and as she told The New York Time Magazine, she doesn’t have much time for those in Hollywood who stay in the closet. When asked about whether she thinks it’s a detriment to be out, she answered, “No. If anything, it’s a detriment to be closeted. Being closeted in Hollywood is like wearing a toupee. It suggests that you’re not proud of who you are, and that you’re afraid of people finding out who you are. There are places where you can’t be out for fear of your life, for fear of your livelihood. Hollywood is not one of them. So to be closeted here is tantamount to being a wimp.”

The interview then followed up with whether she thinks mean you can tell is someone is gay but not out. She says, “You can always tell! When I first was coming out to a senior colleague of mine, I said, ‘Do you think the boss knows?’ And he said, ‘Nina, at this point, I think it’s safe to assume everyone knows.'”

The whole interview is worth a read, including Nina relating an incredibly Hollywood story where she learned she’d been fired from Disney on the telephone while her partner was in the delivery room giving birth to their child.

Crush Of The Day: Billy Reilich (aka Ellen’s ‘Nick the Gardener’) shows off just how hot he is

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

billy-reilich-pic2-slideOver here in the UK very few people have heard of Billy Reilich, but I’m very pleased to be able to help spread the word with the aid of an exceptionally hot new photoshoot (and thanks to BoyCulture for tipping us off to it).

For those who don’t know what a Billy Reilich is, until recently he was ‘Nick The Gardener’ on Ellen Degeneres’ chat show, known for showing up to look after the plants with his shirt off (while being living proof that it’s not just women who can be sexually objectified).

However he recently left Ellen (kicking off the search for a new gardener) and was offered a role in Magic Mike XXL, so we’ll have the opportunity to see him being extremely sexy when that movie opens next summer.

Enjoy the pics of him below, which were taken by Adam Leigh-Manuell, with styling by Pokey Walker and grooming by Lydia Brock and Kristen Pulice. It is almost criminal that one person should be that hot. [Read more…]

Swipe Click Bang Web Series – Whether gay or straight negotiating hook-up culture can be complicated

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

swipe-click-bangThe web series Swipe Click Bang hit the web a couple of weeks ago, with each episode looking at a different situation involving hookup apps and their inherent complications, including both gay and straight set-ups.

Here’s the show’s synopsis: ‘Swipe Click Bang tells the stories of one-night stands unique to our generation.  With “hookup” apps, casual sex has never been easier.  We thought it was time there was a show about it.  So we made one.

‘Each episode of Swipe Click Bang features new strangers who’ve met up to get it on.  Some encounters are hilarious and awkward, while others are provocative and scary.  They are always worth watching.’

Below we’ve got Episode 2, Hit It And Quit It, where a young man has turned up for his first Grindr hookup, but while the other guy is just wanting sex, the newbie is hoping he can turn it into a date. There’s also Episode 4, #YoungLove, where two incredibly social media savvy young women discuss wanting to tell the world about how they met, even if they doesn’t involve mentioning they hooked up on a smartphone app.

You can head over to the Swipe Click Bang website for the other episodes. [Read more…]

Best Feature Amongst Gay-Themed Love Is Strange’s Four Independent Spirit Award Nominations

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

love-is-strange-slideIt was a good showing for Love Is Strange in the Independent Spirit Awards nominations, with Ira Sach’s gay-themed movie picking up four nods, including one for Best Feature, along with Best Actor noms for both John Lithgow and Alfred Molina, while Sachs and Mauricio Zacharias are up for Best Screenplay.

Sachs was previously acknowledged a couple of years ago when Keep The Lights On received three Independent Spirit Awards nominations.

It wasn’t the only gay-themed movie the ISAs noted, as the excellent Test is up for the John Cassavetes Award, given to the best feature made for under $500,000. Queer filmmaker Xavier Dolan meanwhile is up for Best International Film for Mommy.

In Love Is Strange, Ben (John Lithgow) and George (Alfred Molina) are four decades into their relationship and can finally marry. However, their vows are tested shortly afterwards when George loses his job and the couple are forced to live apart. Separated and suddenly reliant on friends and family, George and Ben must navigate a new world.

Test meanwhile follows a young dancer in 1980s San Francisco, just as AIDS is emerging.

The Independent Spirit Awards will be handed out February 21st 2015.

‘Very Hot’ James Franco, Zachary Quinto & Charlie Carver Threesome Promised In Michael

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michael-franco-quinto-pic1Michael is already shaping up to be one of the highest profile gay-themed movies of 2015. But often when LGBT movies are hoping for a bit of mainstream appeal, all the actual full-on gay content gets scrubbed out. However if E! Online is correct, Michael is set to offer the extremely enticing prospect of a ‘very hot’ James Franco, Zachary Quinto & Charlie Carver threesome.

A source told E!, “They first meet in a club. The music is pumping. It’s the eighties! When Charlie’s character questions Franco about having a boyfriend, Franco says, ‘He’d like you, too.'”

The scenes then cuts to the bedroom, where the guys are naked, ‘intertwined and “kissing,” the source said. “You see their asses.”‘

Based on a true story, in Michael Franco play Michael Glatze, who went from being a prominent gay rights advocate to becoming one of the poster-boys for the ex-gay movement when he found God, renounced his homosexuality and married a woman. Quinto plays Glatze’s onetime boyfriend, with Emma Roberts, Darryl Hannah and, of course Charlie Carver, also starring.

Expect it in cinemas sometime next year.

Jurassic World Trailer – Chris Pratt versus the dinosaurs

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jurassic-world-poster1-slideWatching the trailer for Jurassic World, you get the impression that Chris Pratt is the only person who’s seen the first three movies, as like most of us he quickly realises that while dinosaurs might be trouble, that goes double for creating your own genetically modified super-predator beast.

It does look pretty cool though, with the trailer – which we’d been promised on Friday but which has appeared online early – giving us a look at the rather futuristic and fully operational dino park. As you’d expect things quickly start to go wrong.

However it would appear that this time it’s not just humans vs. dinosaurs, as the genetically modified super-beast means many of the dinos are in just as much trouble as the people. Take a look at the trailer below.

Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, BD Wong and Judy Greer also star. It’s due out in the UK June 12th 2015. [Read more…]

Pan Trailer – Hugh Jackman heads off to Neverland with Garrett Hedlund

November 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pan-poster3Just yesterday the first pictures from Pan appeared and now it’s time for the trailer, which suggests this will certainly be a big, spectacular movie, even if it does look a little bizarre. Indeed it’ll be interesting to see how well this Peter Pan origin story works on the big screen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Warner Bros. Pictures comes, “Pan,” a live-action Peter Pan feature directed by Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Pride & Prejudice”).

‘Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

‘The film stars Oscar® nominee Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as Hook; Oscar® nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (“The Dictator”) as Smee; and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter.

‘Amanda Seyfried (“Les Misérables”) rounds out the cast as Mary, alongside Jack Charles (“Mystery Road”) as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father; Taejoo Na (“The Kick”) as Kwahu; Nonso Anozie (“Son of God,” “Atonement”) as Bishop; Kathy Burke (“Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”) as Mother Barnabas; Kurt Egyiawan (“Skyfall”) as Murray; Lewis MacDougall (UK TV’s “In the Name of the Children”) as Nibs; and newcomer Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling.’

The movie is due out July 2015. [Read more…]
