Apropos Of Nothing: Behind The Naked Scenes Video Of The Warwick Rowers 2014 Calendar

October 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

naked-rowers-2014-slideWhen The University Of Warwick Rowing Club released a naked calendar five years, they probably had little idea of what a success it would be and how much it would change their organisation. Indeed it’s gone from raising a bit of cash to things such as helping open the first LGBT Sports Centre in the UK back in May.

Now they’re back with their 2014 calendar, which will help raise funds for Sport Allies, a new programme developed by the rowers themselves in partnership with the charity, Educational Action Challenging Homophobia. ‘Sport Allies is dedicated to challenging homophobia among young people. The rowers are predominantly straight men who have welcomed and embraced the fantastic support they have had from the gay community for their fundraising efforts. Sport Allies is their way of honoring that support and giving something back. The rowers will share with young people their own experience of learning to understand the challenges that others face, simply on the grounds of their sexuality, and how this has changed these athletes both as individuals and as a team.’

To support the release of the calendar, the boys have released a behind-the-scenes look at the photoshoots that went towards creating the 12 months of student sexiness. You can buy your calendar here. Take a look below for the video and same great images of the lads. [Read more…]

Ben Foster Bulges In Cycling Shorts In The First Pic From Lance Armstrong Biopic

October 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lance-armstrong-ben-fosterStephen Frears’ biopic of disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong was the last of a trio of biopics to be announced, but the first to go into production. Now the first image from the movie has been released, giving us a look at Ben Foster in the central role, showing himself off in his cycling shorts.

John Hodge (Trance, Trainspotting) wrote the screenplay, which covers the cyclist’s career from his testicular cancer comeback to winning seven Tour De France championships, through to his eventual admission that he used performance enhancing drugs during his record-breaking run. The film doesn’t yet have a confirmed title.

The main rival project comes from Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions. That one has Bradley Cooper attached to star and is based on Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong by New York Times sports journalist Juliet Macur. Warner Bros. is also developing a Lance Armstrong biopic, securing the life rights of Tyler Hamilton, one of Lance Armstrong’s teammates on the United States Postal Service cycling team, and one of the first to testify under oath that his teammate was doping. Jay Roach is attached to direct that movie from a script by Scott Z. Burns.

That Awkward Moment Green-Band Trailer – Zac Efron and friends have romantic problems

October 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last week we had a slightly rude red band trailer for That Awkward Moment. Now we’ve got the green band version, which is still a little rude, but with fewer butt shots and dildos!

Previously titled Are We Officially Dating?, That Awkward Moment is about a groups of Manhattan friends (Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan) who initially make a pact to remain single. The plot thickens when each friend falls in love shortly after the vow is made (wouldn’t you just know it!), and have to decide “So…where is this going?”.

The movie is due out at the end of January. [Read more…]

Benedict Cumberbatch, Henry Cavill Or Tom Hiddleston May Go Up Everest

October 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

benedict-cumberbatchThe Fifth Estate may have bombed badly at the US box office last weekend, but Benedict Cumberbart is still very much in demand. That includes by Doug Liman, who wants him for his upcoming film, Everest, according the Deadline.

There are plenty of other hot names in contention, including Joel Kinnaman, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, Henry Cavill, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens, Matthew Goode, and Jim Sturgess – although it’s not known which of those will actually end up in the film as the legendary George Mallory and his Australian rival George Finch . Tom Hardy was previously attached, but was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

The story is an adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s non-fiction book Paths of Glory, which is all about explorer George Mallory’s attempt to get into the record books as the first man to reach the top of Mount Everest. The movie is all about Mallory’s obsession with the mountain, as well as his rivalry with fellow climber George Finch.

Mallory and his climbing partner Sandy Irvine failed in two attempts to scale the mountain in 1921 and 1922. They were spotted near the summit on their third attempt in 1924 but nobody knows if they actually made it to the top, as they died on the mountain. Their remains were discovered in 1999 by Mark Anker.

There’s also another movie called Everest in the works, which has Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jason Clarke circling. That one is due to shoot this autumn and is about an infamous incident in 1996, when tragedy struck two separate groups who tried to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
