Josh Duhamel
Josh Duhamel’s star has certainly been on the rise in the last few years, but no it looks like he wants to prove his acting credentials by going indie with Strings. Variety reports that he’s signed up to star in String, joining the previously cast Lucas Till and Maria Bello.
Daniel Duran is set to direct the film, which is about ‘a talented DJ, played by Till, who succumbs to the pressures of the industry and sets out to find himself on a trip to his father’s house in North Dakota. Along the way, he meets a girl who has an instant impact on his life’. Duhamel is set to play an army veteran and counsellor who treats Till’s character.
Oscar Torres wrote the script and will also produce. Shooting is already underway.
Mark Webber is an interesting guy. He’s an actor who’s popped up in the likes of Boiler Room and Scott Pilgrim, and his first movie as a director, Explicit Ills, won the Audience Award at SXSW in 2008. However he had a tough upbringing, as he lived homeless with his mum when he was a kid.
We’re used to comic adaptations, but they usually involve superheroes. However there’s one comic that’s been running since the early 1940s which hasn’t ever been adapted for a live-action, big screen take – Archie Comics. Denzel Washington must have a bit of a hero complex, where he’s obsessed with protecting people, as he seems to do it in every other movie he makes. Now he’s got a new one, as Denzel is in early talks to star in the Warner Bros. sci-fi adaptation Shovel Ready, based on a forthcoming novel by Adam Sternbergh.

Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry and Clark Duke are all set to return, with Adam Scott signing on to replace Cusack in the lead, although he will play a completely new character.
Jerry Weintraub has produced some major hits, including Ocean’s 11 and The Karate Kid, but with his latest movie, the HBO funded Behind The Candelabra (which opens in UK cinemas on June 7th), his hopes don’t just stretch to commercial success, he thinks the movie “is going to change the film business in America”.
TLA Releasing brings out Dream On in the UK on June 10th, and we’ve teamed up with them for a competition, where you could win one of three copies of the gay-themed flick.
