Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise haven’t worked together since Interview With The Vampire in 1994, but now they may get back together as THR reports that Brad Pitt is being courted to star alongside Tom Cruise in the auto racing drama, Go Like Hell.
Tom Cruise signed up for the project in October, with the film reuniting him with Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski. The actor is playing Ford auto designer Carroll Shelby, which follows Ford’s rivalry with Ferrari for supremacy at the annual 24-hour LeMans race. It’s based on A.J. Baime’s book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans.
This isn’t Pitt’s first flirtation with the movie, as he was attached to star back in 2009, when Michael Mann was set to direct. While that fell through, the actor remained interested and kept in touch with the new production team, even though he wasn’t officially attached any more. It’s now clear who Pitt may play.
After the production problems World War Z faced – involving ballooning budgets and expensive reshoots – even Paramount was surprised when it became a $500 million grossing hit. The success ensured they wanted a sequel, but it was also clear from early on they didn’t want director Marc Forster – who many have blamed for the first film’s problems (and who reportedly had an extremely fractious relationship with Brad Pitt).
Fury has been shooting for the last few weeks and we’ve even
Going into the summer season, if you’d asked many pundits what they thought would be the biggest box office failure, a lot of people would have gone for World War Z ahead of actual disasters such as Lone Ranger. That was due to massive budget overruns and a disastrous shoot, which went so badly that the entire third act needed to be reshot.
