Jack Huston On For David O. Russell’s ABSCAM Movie

March 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jack-hustonFans of Boardwalk Empire will know Jack Huston as Richard Harrow, while others might recognise him from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse or Factory Girl. But now he’s got a new role, as Deadline reports he’s signed up for David O. Russell’s next movie, which is currently untitled but was previously known as American Bullshit.

The film is based on the true story of an FBI sting operation known as Abscam, which uncovered a vast network of corruption along the East Coast. The story centres on con artist Melvin Weinberg (Christian Bale) a criminal who is forced to work with an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) to unravel what’s going on. Jennifer Lawrence is set to play Bale’s wife, while Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Louis C.K. are also set to star.

Unfortunately there’s no news on exactly who Huston will play in the movie. Shooting is set to kick off soon, with a Christmas US release already set.

The Hangover Part III Teaser – The Wolfpack returns to Las Vegas

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The final part of The Hangover trilogy hits cinemas on May 24th, and now we get to take our first look at the movie with a teaser trailer. Although things start out surprisingly dour, with the boys at a funeral, things soon go far more manic, with the Wolfpack back in Las Vegas and causing plenty more mayhem.

That said, there’s not too much info on the actual plot, although we’ve been promised that while there’s no batchelor party or wedding this time around, getting the boys back to Vegas ensures carnage aplenty.

Todd Phillips once more directs, with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham and John Goodman starring.

Bradley Cooper Starring In & May Direct Kokowaah Remake

February 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bradley Cooper is a busy man, who always seems to have about a hundred projects on his development slate (and unlike many actors, he actually makes the majority of moves he signs up for). Now he’s added a new one, as Deadline reports he’s developing an English-language remake of the German comedy Kokowaah, which could become his directorial debut is everything works out.

Inglorious Basterds star Til Schweiger co-wrote, directed and starred in the original, with a sequel released a few weeks ago in Germany. The first film was Germany’s highest-grossing film of 2011. Kokwaah, ‘explores the relationship between two men – carefree bachelor Henry and devoted husband and father Trevor – when they are forced to re-evaluate their lives after discovering the reality behind the paternity of Trevor’s 8-year-old daughter Maddy.’

Black List writers Scott Rothman & Rajiv Joseph are re-writing the screenplay, working from an earlier draft by Chris Shafer & Paul Vicknair.

Jennifer Lawrence Set To Reteam With David O Russell On Abscam Movie

February 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence

Director David O Russell used to have a reputation for being difficult to work with, but he must have calmed down as he’s busy lining up a new movie full of faces who’ve worked with him before. The latest to join is Jennifer Lawrence, who scored her second Oscar nomination for O Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook.

The movie will also reunite her with fellow Silver Linings thesp, Bradley Cooper, along with The Fighter’s Christian Bale and Amy Adams, as well as O Russell newbie, Louis CK.

The film, formerly known as American Bullshit is based on the true story of an FBI sting operation known as Abscam, which uncovered a vast network of corruption along the East Coast. The story centers on con artist Melvin Weinberg (Christian Bale) a criminal who is forced to work with the FBI to unravel what’s going on. Lawrence is set to play Bale’s wife (we’ll ignore the 16-year age difference, as Hollywood is obsessed with pairing young woman with significantly older men).

David O. Russell is directing from a screenplay by Eric Singer (The International). It’s not known when it will start shooting. (Source: Deadline)

Bradley Cooper & Omar Sy Join Derek Cianfrance’s Chef

January 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooper-hangoverDerek Cianfrance has just made two films back-to-back with Ryan Gosling – Blue Valentine and Place Beyond The Pines – and now he wants to do the same with Bradley Cooper, who also stars in Pines and has now signed on for Cianfrance’s Chef. According to Variety, Untouchable star Omar sy will also be in the movie.

The comedy is about a disgraced chef (Bradley Cooper) who loses his prestigious restaurant in Paris. He decides to bring his old crew back together in an attempt to create the world’s greatest restaurant in London. It’s not known exactly who Omar Sy will play, although this will be the French actor’s first English-language film.

Cooper himself told French radio station RTL, “We’ve been talking about this project. I want to do it. It’s a beautiful story. And I love cooking. … [But] I’m going to make another film in March and after that I think I’m going to take a break and stay in Paris for Roland Garros (the tennis tournament set in late May).”

It sounds therefore that there’s no firm idea on when the movie might actually go in front of the cameras. Derek Cianfrance is directing from a screenplay by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises).

vanity-fair-hollywood-2013-coverIt’s time to Vanity Fair’s 19th Hollywood Portfolio, where they get the great and the good of Hollywood to turn up and pose. You can see the cute cover, featuring Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper & Emma Stone above, and we’ve got a selection of the other images, which were featured on the Vanity Fair website, below. This year’s portfolio is subtitled, “Bruce Weber’s Adventures in Hollywood,” an ode to the city’s warmer side.

And from the evidence above and below, it’s gonna look good.

Bradley Cooper Will Be The Man From Primrose Lane

January 30, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooperBradley Cooper’s star was starting to wobble, as while The Hangover thrust him up the Hollywood tree, his output outside that franchise has been patchy. However his Oscar nomination for Silver Linings Playbook seems to have given his career fresh impetus.

Deadline reports that he’s now got a new project in the works, as Warner Bros. has acquired the James Renner novel The Man From Primrose Lane, which will be put together as a starring vehicle for Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper.

The book is about a true-crime writer called David Neff (Bradley Cooper), who is investigating the death of a recluse known as “the man with one thousand mittens.” This leads him to become obsessed with another string of murders, where he discovers his own connection to the crimes. The author realises that in order to catch the killer and stop this endless cycle of murder, he must challenge what is known to be true about time and space.

Southland writer Chad Feehan is penning the screenplay adaptation, with Bradley Cooper producing alongside Kevin McCormick.
