Daniel Radcliffe Gets Horny In First Image From Horns

October 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Since the end of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe has been busy showing us he’s not really a teenage wizard, and while he still looked a tad schoolboy-like in Woman In Black, he’s certainly looking a lot more grown up in the first picture from Horns (and of course, he’s got horns growing out of his head).

Based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill and directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) from a screenplay by Keith Bunin (In Treatment), Horns is a supernatural thriller that follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Juno Temple).

Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realises their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses – an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriend’s tragedy and for exacting revenge on her killer.

It certainly sounds like an interesting role for radcliffe, and we have to say that he looks kind of cool with horns on his head. The actor comments, “It’s a very, very different type of part than anything I’ve done before. To play somebody who, in the midst of a time in his life of great turmoil anyway, undergoes this horrific transformation into a devil character – it was very, very exciting.” (Image via EW)

Daniel Radcliffe Seeks Frankenstein Hunchback Role

October 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago Shawn Levy stepped aside from directing Fox’s planned revisionist take on Frankenstein and was replaced by Lucky Number Slevin helmer Paul McGuigan. Now it seems they’re looking at casting and Daniel Radcliffe has stepped forward, expressing interest in playing a character called Hunchback, who’s Frankenstein’s assistant, according to TheWrap.

The script, from Chronicle’s Max Landis, apparently “puts a sci-fi take on this classic story about a creature produced through a scientific experiment”. Hunchback seems to be an Igor-type role (although probably not Igor himself, as Universal might kick up a fuss because they created Ygor for Son Of Frankenstein and Ghost Of Frankenstein, as well as the idea of the doctor having a hunchbacked assistant in their earlier Frankenstein movies).

It fits well with Radcliffe’s current trend for darker, more interesting roles, as the Hunchback is described as “pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns’ clothing”.

Fox is currently trying to finalise the script, as they want to move forward with the film as soon as possible, in order to get a jump on numerous competing projects at other studios.

See Daniel Radcliffe Talk About Teen Suicide For The Trevor Project

September 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

On Friday we reported that Daniel Radcliffe was going to help host an online talk on behalf of The Trevor Project’s Talk To Me campaign. Now that chat has happened and it’s online, so we can see what Radcliffe and others have to say about the subject and the charity that Dan has been involved with for several years.

The Trevor Project is the leading US organisation providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth. The chat was timed to coincide with National Suicide Prevention Month, with Radcliffe using the chat to help look at ways of trying to prevent suicide and make life better for LGBT people, particularly young people in crisis. The Talk To Me campaign according to its website, ‘is The Trevor Project’s campaign for conversation. With 3 simple words – talk to me – you let a friend know that you CARE about them and are willing to listen without judgment. During National Suicide Prevention Month in September we encourage you to take the Talk to Me pledge and let the ones you love know you’re always available to talk.’

You can watch the chat above.

Daniel Radcliffe Strips Nekkid On The F Word Set

September 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Daniel Radcliffe proved he was a clothing optional actor in the West End and on Broadway in Equus, and if you missed that, it appears we may get to see whole lot more of Dan in The F Word, the movie he’s currently shooting.

OhNoTheyDidn’t managed to get hold of some shots of a night shoot, which involves Dan and co-star Zoe Kazan apparently going skinny dipping (apparently their friends steal their clothes, leaving them only a sleeping bag for the night). As the shots are taken from a distance, it’s not 100% clear is the former Harry Potter is really completely naked, or if he’s got some sort of sock to cover his modesty. We’ve censored one of the pics below just in case (sorry, we’re just not that rude), but you can see them in their full glory (and a whole lot more) on OhNoTheyDidn’t.

The movie sees Radcliffe stars as Wallace, a young man who meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan) at a party where they hit it off. The problem is, Chantry has a long-term boyfriend, and the duo must navigate through a tenuous friendship (that’s the F word), while keeping their feelings at bay. It should hit cinemas next year. Juno Temple & Joe Anderson Have Horns

September 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises), Joe Anderson (The Crazies) and Kelli Garner (The Aviator) are the latest actors to board the supernatural fantasy/thriller Horns, according to Variety. They join the already cast Daniel Radcliffe and Max Minghella.

Based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill, Horns is set to be directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D) from a screenplay by Keith Bunin (In Treatment). The movie is a supernatural thriller that follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin (Temple).

The widely acclaimed book was on the New York Times best seller list for six weeks, and has become an international bestseller. Principal photography is slated to begin this fall.

Max Minghella Gets The Horns With Daniel Radcliffe

September 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Max Minghella is slowly building a very strong career with the likes of The Social Network and The Ides Of March (let’s ignore the abysmal Darkest Hour), and he’ll be hoping he can build on that with Horns, as he’s now in talks to join the cast.

The film is about Ig Perrish, a role Daniel Radcliffe took in July, who’s a seemingly ordinary man who wakes up one morning and discovers horns are growing out of his head. He comes to learn that these powerful appendages make people confess their sins to him, a tool he decides to use in figuring out the mysterious death of his girlfriend. Max Minghella is in talks to play Lee Tourneau, a district attorney who is hiding a secret past.

Alexandre Aja is directing from a screenplay by Keith Bunin, which he adapted from Joe Hill’s novel (who is, incidentally, Stephen King’s son). Shooting will begin later this autumn. (Source: Variety)

Rafe Spall & Megan Parks Get The F Word

August 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The F Word already has Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, Mackenzie Davis and Adam Driver onboard, and now Variety reports that they’ve been joined by Prometheus’ Rafe Spall and Charlie Bartlett’s Megan Parks.

Despite what you may think, the title doesn’t refer to a rude word. Daniel Radcliffe stars as Wallace, a young man who meets Chantry (Zoe Kazan) at a party where they hit it off. The problem is, Chantry has a long-term boyfriend, and the duo must navigate through a tenuous friendship (that’s the F word), while keeping their feelings at bay.

Elan Mastai (The Samaritan) wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2008 Black List, based on the play Toothpaste and Cigars by T.J. Dawe and Michael Rinaldi. Shooting started this week in Toronto and will move on to Dublin, with Michael Dowse directing.

Daniel Radcliffe Lets Loose With The F Word

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It still doesn’t seem quite right that Daniel Radcliffe is signing up for movies that don’t start with ‘Harry Potter and the…’ but he’s added another, this time heading for his first romantic comedy, called The F Word. Zoe Kazan has also signed up for Goon director Michael Dowse’s movie.

Daniel Radcliffe Gets The Horns

July 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Daniel Radcliffe has has signed up to star in the supernatural fantasy/thriller Horns, based on the best-selling novel by Joe Hill (son of Stephen King), with Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, High Tension) directing, according to Variety.

Horns is a supernatural thriller driven by fantasy, mystery and romance, about Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend. Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his head and soon realises their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses – an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriend’s tragedy and for exacting revenge on her killer.

Director Alexandre Aja says, “After reading Joe Hill’s cult book, I couldn’t resist temptation to dive into the devilish underworld and reinvent a universal myth. Horns is a wild ride of sin and crime, with a love story in its heart.”

Additional casting is now underway, with principal photography slated to begin this fall. Red Granite Pictures’ international sales arm (Red Granite International) will handle foreign sales for the film.

The Woman In Black (DVD)

June 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Ciaran Hinds, Janet McTeer, Roger Allam
Director: James Watkins
Running Time: 91 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: June 18th, 2012

It’s surprising it’s taken 30 years to turn The Woman In Black into a movie. Susan Hill’s novel has sold millions of copies, and a stage version has been running in the West End since 1989, becoming the second longest-running non-musical production ever. Now Hammer has finally managed to get it onto the screen, with Eden Lake’s James Watkins directing and Daniel Radcliffe starring.

Radcliffe plays young lawyer Arthur Kipps, a man still reeling from the death of his wife during childbirth. Having rather neglected his work, he’s given one final chance by his firm, which involves going to the remote Eel Marsh House to sort through the papers of the recently deceased owner. When he arrives in the nearby village, the locals seem singularly unwelcoming and don’t appear to want him to go to the house. [Read more…]
