Dawn of The Planet of The Apes Teaser Trailer – Caesar is back, alongside Jason Clarke & Gary Oldman

December 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As promised, Fox has released the first trailer for Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, giving us a look at Gary Oldman in the movie, along with Caesar looking rather stern as he marshals his ape forces.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.’

Matt Reeves directs, with the film due out next July. [Read more…]

First Look At Tom Hardy & Gary Oldman In Child 44

December 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Child-44-pic1
Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman obviously didn’t have enough of each on The Dark Knight Rises set (not that they had a vast amount of screen time together), as they’ve gotten back together for Child 44. Now the first images from the film have arrived, via RopesOfSilicon, featuring Hardy, Oldman and Noomi Rapace.

Based on Tom Rob Smith’s novel, with Safe House helmer Daniel Espinosa directing, the Soviet Union set thriller is about a military police officer named Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy) who has to investigate a string of brutal child murders that took place during the Stalin era. As he begins to dig further and further into the case, he realises that his government is keeping a sharp eye on every move he makes, and refuses to admit that the killings are actually happening.

Oldman is the head of police, who has problems with what Hardy is doing, while Rapace, who’s in the image below, is Tom’s wife.

Vincent Cassel, Joel Kinnaman, Jason Clarke and Paddy Considine also star. It’ll be in cinemas next year.

New RoboCop Trailer Arrives – Joel Kinnaman gets into the suit

November 20, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The jury is still out on the remake of Robocop, as while the trailers have looked okay, there’s been little that’s suggested it will be great, while the fact it was delayed from summer 2013 to the graveyard of February 2014 is worrying. Now a new trailer has arrived.

Jose Padilha has said of the film, “In the future with autonomous robots you can have a robot in the middle of the desert going after terrorists and you don’t even know the robot is there and the robot is making its own decisions. And let’s say this robot kills a kid, who is to blame? Is it the company that made the robot, is it the army that deployed the robot, the software handler or the manufacturer? Who is to blame? When you start making machines who make decisions over life and death, something fundamental changes…”

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.’ [Read more…]

Paranoia Trailer – Liam Hemsworth takes on Gary Oldman & Harrison Ford

June 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Corporate thrillers are often a difficult sell because it’s tough to make them look all that interesting in the space of 2 minutes and 30 seconds, as even with plenty of action, it’s still men in suits looking serious. It’s a slightly problem with Paranoia, although at least the trailer suggests it could be okay.

Liam Hemsworth stars as Adam Cassidy, an ambitious young man trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at a telecommunications firm. After he makes a costly mistake, the company CEO (Oldman) agrees not to turn him in if he spies on Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford), Nicholas’ mentor and a rival executive. Amber Heard is set to play a potential love interest for Adam, who works at the company he is spying on.

Robert Luketic is directing from a screenplay by Jason Dean Hall, which he adapted from the novel of the same name by Joseph Finder. Lucas Till, Embeth Davidtz, Amber Heard, Julian McMahon. The film hits US cinemas on August 16th, but no UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Gary Oldman Joining Tom Hardy & Noomi Rapace In Child 44

March 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gary-oldmanTom Hardy and Gary Oldman must like working together, as they’re set to team up for the fourth time in two years for Child 44, according to THR. Oldman joins Hardy, Noomi Rapace and Joel Kinnaman in the movie, which Daniel Espinosa is set to direct.

Child 44 is set in 1950s Russia, with Hardy as a Soviet military police officer who becomes the target of his suspicious government while he’s investigating a string of child murders. Joel Kinnaman will play the killer responsible for these brutal deaths, while Noomi Rapace is Hardy’s wife. Oldman meanwhile is the head of police who becomes suspicious of Hardy’s character and starts investigating him.

Oldman and Hardy previously starred together in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Lawless and The Dark Knight Rises, although they didn’t actually get much screentime together in any of those movies. Perhaps Child 44 will remedy that.

Gary Oldman Up For Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

March 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gary-oldmanWith Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes aiming to start shooting fairly soon, they’re leaving the casting fairly late. Jason Clarke and Kodi Smit-McPhee have already signed up, and now ComingSoon reports that Gary Oldman has joined the cast for director Matt Reeves.

Oldman will apparently portray Dreyfus, who is the leader of the human resistance that springs up after the apes rise to power. The story is set 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes, centering on a group of San Francisco scientists trying to survive in this new world overrun by the apes. The plot also follows the story of on Caesar (Andy Serkis), who is trying to maintain control over his new animalian kingdom.

New Paranoia Pic Lands With Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth & Gary Oldman

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paranoia-pic1Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth & Gary Oldman are getting their suit on in a brand new image from the thriller Paranoia. To be honest, the first thing that strikes us is how much Liam is starting to look like his brother Chris. So if they ever need a new Thor, we know whose door they should knock on first.

Hemsworth stars as Adam Cassidy, an ambitious young man trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at a telecommunications firm. After he makes a costly mistake, the company CEO (Oldman) agrees not to turn him in if he spies on Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford), Nicholas’ mentor and a rival executive. Director: Christopher Nolan
Running Time: 164 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: December 3rd 2012

The Dark Knight Rises had a lot to live up to after the superb second instalment in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. While it may not be quite as good as The Dark Knight, the film is a fitting conclusion to the series, tying up the thematic ends and ramping up the spectacle and excitement.

It’s seven years after the events of The Dark Knight and Bruce Wayne is living as a virtual recluse in his mansion. Batman is no longer needed and Wayne is a physical wreck. However when a mysterious figure known as Bane (Tom Hardy) arrives in Gotham with plans aimed at destroying Bruce and potentially destroying the city, there’s no choice but to bring the Bat out of retirement. Adrien Brody Heads For Motor City

August 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adrien Brody is in negotiations to play the villain in Motor City for Warner Bros. and director Albert Hughes. The actor replaces Gary Oldman, who was in talks to star back in February before bowing out. Brody doesn’t seems like a natural replacement for Oldman, but hopefully it’ll work.

Gerard Butler is set to star as an ex-con who immediately after his release begins tracking down the men who framed him and sent him to prison. Amber Heard and Mickey Rourke are also attached to star. Gary Oldman is not the first actor to drop out of the project. Dominic Cooper and Jake Gyllenhaal were previously attached.

Albert Hughes is directing from a screenplay by Chad St. John. Production is scheduled to begin September 17th in Atlanta. (Source: Variety)

July 9, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Directed by John Hillcoat from a script by him and Proposition cohort Nick Cave, Lawless is based on Matt Bodurant’s book about the author’s grandfather and two great-uncles, who were part of a fierce criminal gang at the centre of the US’s moonshine trade during prohibition. The story also follows a writer named Sherwood Anderson, who is on the trail of the bootlegging gang. The film has a great cast, with Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, and Mia Wasikowska onboard. It’ll hit UK cinemas on August 31st.
