Equals Trailer – Nicholas Hoult & Kristen Stewart aren’t allowed to fall in love

It’s forbidden love time for Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart in a dystopian future. Indeed, they’re not even meant to be able to fall in love in Equals, which has just released its full trailer.

In the film, Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart live in a gloomy, sterile world, where emotion has been outlawed and is virtually non-existent. However, the human spirit won’t take that lying down, and some people get a disease known as ‘Switched On Syndrome’, where they begin to have feelings. As a result, Hoult and Stewart start to fall in love.

Guy Pearce, Jacki Weaver, Bel Powley, Kate Lyn Sheil, and Claudia Kim also start, with a summer release expected. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Parkland Trailer – Zac Efron works on a shot JFK

With the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination coming up in November, it’s little surprise a movie like Parkland is due out soon, which focusses on the hospital the President was taken to after he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald (and where Oswald went when he was killed). Now the first trailer for the movie is here.

Billy Bob Thornton plays the head of Dallas’ Secret Service in the film, with Paul Giamatti as Abraham Zapruder, the man who took some infamous footage of the assassination (which many will remember from JFK). Marcia Gay Harden is the head nurse at the hospital, with Zac Efron as a rookie doctor who has to work on the President. Jeremy Strong plays Lee Harvey Oswald.

The movie’s US release has just been moved to early October, with a November 8th UK release currently set. [Read more…]

Stoker was a real audience divider on its cinemas release, with some feeling that Oldboy director Park Chan-Wook’s first English-language film was an underwhelming bore, while others went as far as to call it a horror masterpiece. To be honest I can understand where both sides are coming from, as your appreciation of the film completely depends on whether you fall for the film’s endlessly dripping style. Woody Allen Adds Eileen Atkins & Marcia Gay Harden To New Movie

eileen-atkins1 Woody Allen is just finishing off Blue Jasmine, but he’s already busy putting together his next movie, which, as is Woody’s way, hasn’t had a title released yet. Colin Firth and Emma Stone are set to star, and now they’ve been joined by some great talents, as TheWrap reports that Eileen Atkins, Marcia Gay Harden, Jacki Weaver, Hamish Linklater and Simon McBurney will appear.

Erica Leerhsen and Jeremy Shamos are also set to star in the film, although as always, Allen is keeping the plot details to himself. The plan though is to start shooting fairly soon for release next year.

Blue Jasmine meanwhile, which stars Alec Baldwin, Cate Blanchett, Louis C.K., Michael Stuhlbarg, Peter Sarsgaard, Bobby Cannavale, Alden Ehrenreich, and Sally Hawkins, is set for release in the US on July 26th, with a September 20th UK date planned.

It took many by surprise when Silver Linings Playbook picked up eight Oscar nominations, as while it got decent reviews, few thought it was a serious Academy Award contender. However, as the ceremony approached it picked up momentum to the point where many thought there was a decent possibility of it taking the Best Picture prize. In the end its only gong was a much deserved Bst Actress award for Jennifer Lawrence, but you can certainly see why it became a bit of a sleeper awards contender. [Read more…]

Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton & Jacki Weaver On For JFK Assassination Drama Parkland

Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton and Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) have signed on to the John F. Kennedy assassination themed feature film Parkland, from writer/director Peter Landesman, with Tom Hanks set to produce.

The film will be based on Vincent Bugliosi’s book, Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy, which is follows the dramatic true story of the chaotic events that occurred at Parkland Hospital in Dallas on the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Parkland was where JFK was taken after he was shot. Doctors worked feverishly to save him, although it was pretty much a foregone conclusion the wounds were fatal (it was also where Lee Harvey Oswald and his assassin, Jack Ruby, died).

It hasn’t been revealed exactly who the three actors will play. The movie will shoot in Austin, Texas with for release around the 50th anniversary of the JFK shooting in November 2013. (Source: Variety)
