Swiss Army Man Red Band Trailer – Take a look at Daniel Radcliffe’s farting corpse’s boner compass!

May 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

swiss-army-man-daniel-radcliffeSwiss Army Man is a film first, as it’s almost certainly the only movie in history that almost immediately become knows as the ‘farting corpse movie’. It’s also resulted in the most unlikely headline for a post I think I’ve ever written. The first trailer gave us a taste of just how bizarre and Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano movie was, and now that’s been amplified with a Red Band trailer.

It also gives us our first look at Radcliffe’s much talked about boner compass!

The film follows a castaway man (Dano), who has reached the end of his tether living alone when a corpse (Radcliffe) washes up on the island. The movie charts the growing relationship between the man and flatulent dead guy, which as you’ll see below, gets increasingly surreal and rather romantic.

Swiss Army Man is apparently a real audience divider, but it certainly looks intriguing. Expect to see it in cinemas later this year. And in case you’re wondering the scene right at the end is one that got many people talking, where Radcliffe is ridden like a jet-ski, powered by his farts! [Read more…]

Ridley Scott Will Take On The Western, Wraiths of the Broken Land

May 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ridley-scottWhile Ridley Scott signing on to direct a movie doesn’t always mean he’ll actually end up behind the camera – he likes to have a lot of film in development, only some of which he ends up making – Variety reports that he’s set to helm Fox’s western, Wraiths of the Broken Land.

There is some reason to think he may well make it though, as the project will reteam him with The Martian writer Drew Goddard, based on the acclaimed novel by S. Craig Zahler. The book ‘is set in Mexico around 1900 with two sisters forced into prostitution at a gentlemen’s club. The sisters’ two brothers and their father attempt to rescue them through their outlaw gang which also includes a former slave, an Indian and a brutal gunman (or “wraith”) who is the tactical leader.’

Scott is directing Alien: Covenant at the moment, but Wraiths of the Broken Land will be in the mix after he’s finished with that movie.

May 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

yoga-hoser-slideKevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers debuted to mixed reviews at Sundance, and now we get to see why, as it looks absolutely crazy. The first trailer has arrived, which show this is Smith at his most nuts.

Here’s the synopsis from Sundance: ‘Colleen and Colleen are BFFs AF. Manitoba is where they go to school together, do yoga together, play in a band together, and work together at a boring convenience store. Life is whatevs, but also on fleek. That’s kinda what being 15 and a half is all about. #RealTalk

‘So when two older guys invite the Colleens to a senior party, the girls are determined to go no matter what—even if that “what” is a terrible, secret evil that threatens to destroy everything decent and polite about Canada. Can Colleen and Colleen save the day and go viral? Will those senior boys prove squad-worthy?’

Harley Quinn Smith, Lily-Rose Depp, Johnny Depp, Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Genesis Rodriguez, Adam Brody, Justin Long star. It’ll be out in the US in July. [Read more…]

Gael Garcia Bernal Back On To Be A Futuristic Zorro

May 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gael-garcia-bernalBack in 2012 Gael Garcia Bernal was attached to the title role in Zorro Reborn, a futuristic take on the classic sword-swishing character, which had Ricardo de Monteuil loosely set to direct. However, the movie never happened and got trapped in development hell. However, the producers didn’t give up on the idea.

Now they’re back with Z, described as being completely different to Zorro Reborn but still taking the swashbuckler to the future. And once more, Bernal is attached to star, according to Deadline.

Jonás Cuarón (son of Alfonso), who helmed Bernal in the upcoming Desierto will direct. Cuaron also wrote the script for the movie, which is said to be set in the near future (so probably different to the full-on post-apocalyptic setting on Zorro Reborn. The plan is to shoot this autumn at Pinewood Dominican Republic studios.

Alden Ehrenreich Will Be The New, Young Han Solo

May 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

alden-ehrenreich26-year-old Alden Ehrenreich has been the ‘next big thing’ for a while (in fact ever since he was discovered by Steven Spielberg entertaining at a bar mitzvah). However, the likes of Beautiful Creatures failed to really break him out, and while he’s gotten very close to numerous other major tentpole roles, they’ve ended up going to someone else.

Now though, he’s landed a massive one, as it’s been revealed that he wiill play the young Han Solo in a planned standalone movie about the space jockey, set before the events of A New Hope. While the film isn’t expected to shoot until next year, it’s believed Lucasfilm wanted to cast him early, so they could include a cameo from him in this December’s Rogue One.

Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan are writing the script for the Han Solo movie, with Phil Lord and Chris Miller set to direct.

Ehrenreich has just come off an incredibly well received turn in the Coens’ Hail, Caesar!, which many commented would make a lot of people in Hollywood pay more attention to him. It certainly seems to have done that, although the young actor will also be aware that he’s got some very big boots to fill, taking over from Harrison Ford.

First Look At The New Power Rangers Suits & The Shiny Spandex Is Gone

May 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

power-rangers-suits-1st-lookA new Power Rangers movie has been shooting, which has a bigger budget than previous attempts to the franchise on the big screen, and will be bringing a more cinematic feel, rather than just being a TV spin-off. The movie won’t be in cinemas until next year, but the makers are keen to show us that this won’t be the slightly cheesy Rangers we know from television.

That includes giving the suits a complete makeover. Gone is the spandex-type material and in are superhero inspired robotic-looking suits. They look pretty cool, but it’s certainly noticeable that while the men appear to have lost their genitals, the women have been given ample boob room – but that’s Hollywood for you.

The new pic above comes shortly after we got out first look at Elizabeth Banks as the new Rita Repulsa, who again looked very different from how she looked in the original series.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.’

Russell Crowe May Join Tom Cruise In The Mummy Reboot

May 4, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

russell-croweThere was major surprise when it was announced that Tom Cruise had attached himself to star in Universal’s planned reboot of The Mummy franchise. Part of the reason is was so unexpected is that few had thought such an established star would have either been sought or would have wanted to sign on. However, then it turned out Cruise wasn’t the only big name the studio was after for its interconnected monster universe, with Johnny Depp signing on to play The Invisible Man in a new, standalone movie.

Now it looks like Russell Crowe may be joining the throng, as THR reports he’s in talks to play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The plan is for the character to make his first appearance in The Mummy, before becoming part of a universe that will also include new The Bride of Frankenstein and The Creature From the Black Lagoon movies. Tom Hardy and Javier Bardem were previously in talks for the role, but neither signed on the dotted line.

The Mummy is currently shooting in London, and ‘is set in the modern day with Cruise playing a special forces soldier (or former soldier)’. Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Jake Johnson also star.
