Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions company have managed to almost monopolise popular horror with everything from Get Out and the Paranormal Activity series to Insidious and The Purge. The producer is hoping to add another hit to the list with Truth or Dare (although I think it’s fair to say it won’t be matching Get Out’s Oscar success).
Synopsis: ‘Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) and Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) lead the cast of Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare, a supernatural thriller from Blumhouse Productions (Happy Death Day, Get Out, Split). A harmless game of “Truth or Dare” among friends turns deadly when someone-or something-begins to punish those who tell a lie-or refuse the dare.
‘Directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2), the thriller co-stars Violett Beane, Nolan Gerard Funk, Hayden Szeto and Sophia Taylor Ali. The film was produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and executive produced by Wadlow.’

It’s fair to day there are still plenty of people who are unsure whether Disney should be making a belated sequel to one of the true classics of family cinema, Mary Poppins. However, the first teaser trailer has arrived to try and convince us it’ll be worth having the magical nanny back, in the form of Emily Blunt this time – and it has to be said, it does a good job.
You’ve certainly got to hope that with a cast including Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen, Book Club will be a lot of fun. It’s also got a potentially fun concept, with the quartet of actress playing friends who’ve started a book club to improve their minds.
For the past few years, Sony Pictures has been enviously eyeing the massive franchises other studios have built, to the point they were so keen for Spider-man to properly work out for them, they handed the reigns to Disney-controlled Marvel to help get it right. Their plan to rejuvenate Ghostbusters didn’t quite work out as they’d hoped, but now they’re panning to put one of the stars of that movie in a reboot of the Men In Black franchise.
While there was plenty of talk about how Wonder Woman was a sign that sexual equality in the world of superheroes wasn’t as impossible as some studio executives seemed to think. However, it’s not just the in the ranks of heroes where there’s been a lack of women – the supervillains have tended to be men too.
A few weeks ago it was revealed that Leo DiCaprio was reteaming with director Quentin Tarantino for his film that takes place in LA at the time of the Charles Manson murders. Now he’s bagged another big name he’s worked with before, as Brad Pitt has also joined the movie, according to 
Before the release of Wreck-It Ralph, there were plenty of people shaking their heads and saying it was evidence that Disney animation had lost its way. However, it turned out to be the beginning of a critical and box office rennaisance that’s continued with the likes of Frozen and Moana. Its $470 million worldwide gross also means we’re getting a sequel.
Lewis Gilbert, the prolific British director whose career spanned across eight decades, has died aged 97. He is a man whose name should be better known as he directed some true classics, but perhaps because his successes were so eclectic and spread across so many years, many people don’t realise he was the man behind all of them.
Synopsis: ‘It is summer 1962, and England is still a year away from huge social changes: Beatlemania, the sexual revolution and the Swinging Sixties. Florence (Saoirse Ronan) and Edward (Billy Howle) are just married and honeymooning on the dramatic coastline of Chesil Beach in Dorset. However, the hotel is old fashioned and stifling, and underlying tensions between the young couple surface and cast unexpected shadows over their long anticipated wedding night.
Synopsis: ‘Set in ’70s Kingston and ’80s Hackney, Yardie centres on the life of a young Jamaican man named D (Aml Ameen), who has never fully recovered from the murder, committed during his childhood, of his older brother Jerry Dread (Everaldo Creary). D grows up under the wing of a Kingston Don and music producer named King Fox (Sheldon Shepherd). Fox dispatches him to London, where he reconnects with his childhood sweetheart, Yvonne (Shantol Jackson), and his daughter who he’s not seen since she was a baby.
