Jeff Goldblum Likely To Return For Independence Day 2 But Not Jurassic World

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jeff-goldblumIn the 90s Jeff Goldblum was part of two of the biggest movies of the decade – Independence Day and Jurassic Park. With sequels to both those films currently getting closer to shooting, that actor has revealed that he is in talks for the Independence Day 2, but that no one has approached him to appear in Jurassic World.

While doing press for  The Grand Budapest Hotel, Jeff Goldblum revealed he hasn’t read the script for the second Independence Day film yet, although he knows things are moving forward fast. HuffPo reports him as saying, “Yeah, they’ve talked to me about it and I’ve talked to them about it and they’re excited and I’m anxious and eager to see – I haven’t read anything – what they cook up. You know, I think they’re trying to put it together.”

On Jurassic World he says, “Yeah…they haven’t called me for 4, I know Steven Spielberg isn’t directing it…”

Although that suggests he only wants to do dino movies Spielberg helms, when asked if that’s why didn’t return for  Jurassic Park III, he says, “No, nobody asked me, but I was perfectly satisfied with the two that I did. I’m still satisfied with that and I’ll be the first in line to see anything else, so, you know.”

Fast & Furious 7 Will Restart Shooting in April, Following The Death Of Paul Walker

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fast-and-furious-7-pic1When Paul Walker tragically died last November during a Thanksgiving break on the Fast & Furious 7 shoot, Universal Pictures was understandably forced to indefinitely shut down production on the movie.

They quickly decided they would keep Walker in the movie, using his performance that he’d filmed so far, but the script would therefore need extensive rewrites to accommodate this, with Walkers character being retired rather than killed off. Now THR reports that the movie is gearing up to resume shooting with the cast and crew planning to reunite close to Atlanta on or near April 1.

The shoot there is scheduled to last between six and eight weeks in Atlanta. It’s believed the movie will then continue to shoot in other locations – LA and Dubai have been mentioned.

The film is currently due for release April 10th, 2015.

Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson & Some Sheep Get A New A Million Ways To Die In The West Poster

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

million-ways-to-die-in-the-west-poster9
In the last 20 years, westerns have always been a hit and miss for Hollywood and they’ve had particular problems with comedy westerns. However Universal will be hoping that Seth MacFarlane can overcome that with A Million Ways To Die In The West. After all, many thought an R-rated comedy about a talking teddy sounded like a disaster until Ted became a massive hit.

Now a new poster has arrived, showing us MacFarlane alongside Liam Neeson and Charlize Theron.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West. After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.

‘Starring alongside MacFarlane are Oscar® winner Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Sarah Silverman and Neil Patrick Harris. MacFarlane reunites many of the filmmakers behind Universal and MRC’s hit film Ted including Scott Stuber (Bluegrass Films) and Jason Clark who produce, and Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin who co-wrote the script.’

The film’s due out on May 30th.

Marc Webb Takes On The Comedy Spy Thriller Cold Comfort

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Only a couple of day ago Marc Webb confirmed that he had signed on to helm the third marc-webbAmazing Spider-man movie, but it appears he’s looking beyond the world of superheroes, as Deadline reports he’s attacked to direct Cold Comfort, based on the upcoming book How to Catch a Russian Spy, which 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to.

The non-fiction book is about an American civilian who became a self-taught spy and helped bring down a Russian agent operating on American soil. The book was co-written by journalist Ellis Henican alongside this real-life civilian-turned-spy, who will reveal his true identity upon the book’s publication, although it isn’t known when it will be released.

Several studios and directors were vying for the rights, especially as it’s seen as being a great project to base around a comedy actor such as Jonah Hill. No screenwriter is currently attached. As Marc Webb has got Spider-man 2 set for this Spring and the third film already planned for Summer 2016, it’s not certain when he’ll fit in Cold Comfort.

Jonathan Levine to Direct Brooklyn Castle, With Seth Rogen Producing

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jonathan-levineSeth Rogen must be pining for the days of 50/50, as a couple of weeks ago it was revealed he was planning to reteam with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and director Jonathan Levine for a currently untitled Christmassy comedy. Now he’s going to produce an movie adaptation of the documentary Brooklyn Castle, which also has Jonathan Levine attached to direct, according to Deadline.

They’re also bringing back 50/50 screenwriter Will Reiser, who is writing the script based on Katie Dellamaggiore’s 2012 doc. That film is about a team of chess champions who hail from an inner-city Brooklyn school. However budget cuts threaten to take the team away from these gifted students, for whom chess has become more important than just being a game.

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are producing, and they’re going to be really busy as it’s also been revealed recently they’re planning to direct an adaptation of the book Console Wars, about the battle between Nintendo and Sega in the 1990s.

Adam Sandler, Kevin James & Josh Gad Sign On For Pixels

February 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A movie version of Patrick Jean’s short film Pixels has been in development at Sony since 2010. However while the short seemed ready made for the big screen treatment it’s taken a long time to find a way to properly get it to work as a feature-length film.

Now though it seem ready to move forward as Deadline reports that Kevin James and Josh Gad have signed on to star in the movie. Right from the very first days of the project, Adam Sandler has been set to produce, but it’s only now that he’s decided he’s officially going to star, according to TheWrap.

Jennifer Aniston is also apparently being courted for a role, but she’s not close to signing on yet.

The film is about four video arcade champions who are called upon to save the world when aliens attack by using the Earth to stage versions of classic 1980s video games. In the original short film, New York City was transformed into 8-bit pixels, with everything from Space Invaders to Frogger attacking the metropolis. It’s now known if real games will feature in the movie version.

It’s not clear exactly who Kevin James, Adam Sandler and Josh Gad will play, although they are set for lead roles, so will presumably be two of the champions.

Chris Columbus is set to direct from a script by Tim Herlihy (Grown Ups, Big Daddy) and Timothy Dowling (Role Models). Filming is scheduled to begin this summer.

Adam Driver Close To Getting Villainous In Star Wars: Episode VII

February 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Adam-Driver
It seems we know the first new actor to join Star Wars Episode VII, as after endless rumours of just about everyone who’s everyone on the planet being in contention for the movie, both Variety and THR report that Girls star Adam Driver in in talk to play a villain in the movie.

Nothing is completely set yet, but Driver is apparently nearing a deal for the undisclosed role. Sources suggest this role may be the role that Michael Fassbender met for late last year and that Joel Kinnaman seem to have tested for it as well. However little is known about the part itself or who exactly Driver will be playing.

Although we’ve known Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would all return, Adam Driver is the first new actor we’ve known will probably be in the film. However it’s believed numerous other roles are very close to being cast, although director JJ Abrams and Disney are trying to keep an absolute shroud of secrecy over the production.

Expect to hear more soon though, as it’s due to start shooting in April/May.

David Fincher Takes On Aaron Sorkins’ Steve Jobs Biopic

February 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

david-fincherDavid Fincher and Aaron Sorkin had a lot of success teaming up for The Social Network, with the latter winning an Oscar for his work on the film. Not long after that movie was released it was revealed that Aaron Sorkin had been hired to write a biopic of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, based on Walter Isaacson’s semi-official biography.

Sorkin has taken a long time getting it right (he started writing it around the same time a rival biopic starring Ashton Kutcher was announced, which has already been and gone from cinemas), but now it seems he’s ready to movie forward as THR reports that Davis Fincher is in early talks to reteam with Sorking and direct the movie.

Walter Isaacson’s book is,”Based on more than forty interviews with Jobs conducted over two years-as well as interviews with more than a hundred family members, friends, adversaries, competitors, and colleagues-Walter Isaacson has written a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and searingly intense personality of a creative entrepreneur whose passion for perfection and ferocious drive revolutionized six industries: personal computers, animated movies, music, phones, tablet computing, and digital publishing.

‘At a time when America is seeking ways to sustain its innovative edge, and when societies around the world are trying to build digital-age economies, Jobs stands as the ultimate icon of inventiveness and applied imagination. He knew that the best way to create value in the twenty-first century was to connect creativity with technology. He built a company where leaps of the imagination were combined with remarkable feats of engineering.

‘Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published. He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.

‘Driven by demons, Jobs could drive those around him to fury and despair. But his personality and products were interrelated, just as Apple’s hardware and software tended to be, as if part of an integrated system. His tale is instructive and cautionary, filled with lessons about innovation, character, leadership, and values.’

Last November Sorkin revealed that the movie will be based around of three half-hour speeches, taking place just before the Apple head announced the Mac, NeXT, and the original iPod. It’s possible the structure may have changed, and that as well as the speeches we’ll get to see footage of what he’s talking about, showing us his life beyond the corporate showfloor.

It’s not known when it will shoot.

Ruben Fleischer Is Staying Overnight For A Disney Family Adventure

February 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ruben-fleischerRuben Fleischer had success with Zombieland and 30 Minutes Or Less, but the much hyped Gangster Squad was a bit of a damp squib. He’s found a new film though, as he is in negotiations to direct the family adventure Overnight for Walt Disney Pictures, according to Variety.

Oren Uziel (The Kitchen Sink) wrote the script, which is described being like Home Alone but set in a large toy store similar to FAO Schwartz. It’s about a divorced father and his son who win a sleepover in the shop. However their treat takes on unexpected turn when they have to diffuse a hostage situation when thieves try to stage a robbery.

The movie was going to be made by Sony/Columbia Pictures, however Disney picked it up out of turnaround last year. It’s not known when it will shoot.

Director Marc Webb Coming Back For The Amazing Spider-Man 3

February 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amazing-spider-man-2-poster5Marc Webb jumped up the Hollywood food chain with The Amazing Spider-man, and while he agreed to sign on for a second Spidey movie, it wasn’t known if he would be interested in making more. However now Variety reports that Webb has been confirmed to The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is already set for release on June 10, 2016.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 writers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Jeff Pinkner are returning to write the script for the third adventure, with Matthew Tolmach and Avi Arad producing.

Andrew Garfield is already contracted to be back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and last October is was reported that Paul Giamatti will return as Aleksei Sytsevich aka. The Rhino. Chris Cooper, who plays Norman Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has also hinted that he will be in part three. However no other cast members have been confirmed.

With Spider-man becoming a lynchpin for Sony Pictures (to the point where some investors feel they’re relying on it too much and ought to find some other major franchise) they are also expanding the Spider-Man universe, with The Sinister Six and Venom spin-offs. It’s believed they hope to release a Spidey related movie every year.
