New Hours Trailer – Paul Walker races against time during Hurricane Katrina

October 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paul Walker has never had a huge amount of success rushing around in the Fast & Furious franchise, but he’ll be hoping for more from Hours, as while there’s plenty more racing about, this time the plot is more dramatic.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Before sunrise on August 29, 2005 Nolan (PAUL WALKER) arrives at a New Orleans hospital with his pregnant wife Abigail (GENESIS RODRIGUEZ) who has gone into early labor. What should be one of the happiest days of Nolan’s life quickly spirals out of control when the birth goes tragically wrong and Hurricane Katrina ravages the hospital, forcing an evacuation. Told to stay with his child, who is on a ventilator, Nolan and his newborn are soon cut off from the world by power outages and rising flood waters. When no one returns to help, Nolan faces one life-and-death decision after another, fighting to keep his daughter alive, as minute by agonizing minute passes, becoming unimaginable “Hours.”’

The movie is due out in the US in December. [Read more…]

Will Smith May Be Selling Time In A New Supernatural Thriller

October 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

will-smithAfter the failure of After Earth, Will Smith’s long reign as a box office titan has been starting to look shaky. However he’s hoping to get back on top with 20th Century Fox’s supernatural thriller, Selling Time. The actor was actually attached to the project years ago when it was first in development, although he had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. Now he’s back in, according to TheWrap.

Several top directors are reportedly circling the project, although no one has signed on yet. Dan McDermott (Eagle Eye) wrote the original script, which was also worked on by Spike Lee, Steven Martini and Derick Martini. It’s not known when it might shoot.

Robert Zemeckis Set For Marwencol, With Leo DiCaprio Sought To Star

October 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

robert-zemeckisRobert Zemeckis made in impressive return to live-action with Flight, after a decade in the world of motion capture. He’s busy planning what he’ll do next, and one of the project that’s just been announced is a narrative adaptation of the 2010 documentary Marwencol, according to Variety.

Although no offers have been made, the director is reportedly trying to lure in Leonardo DiCaprio to star.

Universal has also picked up the life rights of Mark Hogancamp, the subject of Jeff Malmberg’s documentary. The original film follows Hogancamp’s long road to recovery after he was severely beaten by five teenagers, causing him to slip into a coma for nine days. When he came out around, he had no memory of his life or friends and family.

To help his recovery, he began constructing a one-sixth scale model of a World War II-era Belgian village in his backyard, with figures that resembled his friends, family members and even his attackers, which allowed him both to heal his memory and escape into his own fantasy scenarios.

Caroline Thompson (The Secret Garden, The Nightmare Before Christmas) is writing the screenplay, which will blend fantasy and reality. There’s no news on when it might shoot.

First Look At Samuel L. Jackson As The President In The Big Game

October 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Big-Game-pic1If Samuel L. Jackson ran for President, I bet he’d get an awful lot of votes. Now we can get out first look at what it would be like if Jackson really did run the US, with the first pic from The Big Game. It suggests that when Sam takes over, he’ll spend a lot of time hanging out on top of mountains.

The first image comes just as the shoot is coming to an end, along with a press release about the movie. Here it is: ‘The first image from the set of Jalmari Helander’s BIG GAME features Samuel L. Jackson as “The President” and Onni Tommila as his 13-year old sidekick “Oskari” as captured on location in Bavaria.

‘Joining the cast in the final weeks of the shoot are Felicity Huffman (Transamerica, Desperate Housewives) playing “The CIA Director”, Victor Garber (Titanic, Argo) playing “U.S. Vice President” and Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs, American Gangster) as “General Underwood.” Samuel L. Jackson and Onni Tommila (Rare Exports) take the leading roles and other previously announced co-stars include British talent Jim Broadbent (Iris, The Iron Lady) and Ray Stevenson (Thor, GI Joe: Retaliation) and, from Germany, Mehmet Kurtulus (Short Sharp Shock).

‘An adrenaline-fuelled action adventure, BIG GAME is written and directed by Jalmari Helander (Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale) and is nearing the end of its eight-week shoot on locations across Bavaria and at Bavaria Film Studios.

‘When Air Force One is shot down by terrorists leaving The President of the United States stranded in the wilderness, there is only person around who can save him – a 13-year old boy called Oskari. In the forest on a hunting mission to prove his maturity to his kinsfolk, Oskari had been planning to track down a deer, but instead discovers the most powerful man on the planet in an escape pod.

‘With the terrorists closing in to capture their own “Big Game” prize, the unlikely duo must team up to escape their hunters. As anxious Pentagon officials observe the action via satellite feed, it is up to the President and his new side-kick to prove themselves and survive the most extraordinary 24 hours of their lives.

‘Based on a story by Jalmari Helander and Petri Jokiranta, BIG GAME combines the universal rite-of-passage theme of iconic 80′s films, such as E.T. and The Karate Kid with the visceral thrill of high-concept action classics such as Die Hard and Taken. The Director of Photography is Mika Orasmaa (Rare Exports, Iron Sky) with Scanline VFX (Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Iron Man) on board for all special effects.

‘As director and co-writer, Jalmari Helander comments: “BIG GAME is an action adventure story on an epic scale. I’m delighted to be taking this genre on as it has always been very close to my heart, as action-packed adventure stories contain the elements that I believe make movies that are worth watching.”’

Tom Cruise Is Gonna Go Like Hell With Oblivion Director Joseph Kosinski

October 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tom-cruiseTom Cruise must have enjoyed working with director Joseph Kosinski on Oblivion, as they hoping to team up again, as they are both circling the racing drama Go Like Hell for 20th Century Fox, according to THR.

The movie has been in the works since 2011, when Michael Mann was close to directing. The drama is based on A.J. Baime’s book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, And Their Battle For Speed And Glory At Le Mans, which follows Ford’s decision to challenge Ferrari’s dominance at the 24-hour LeMans race. The Ford team, led by Henry Ford II, Lee Iacocca and Carroll Shelby developed the Ford GT40 in 1966, which became the first American-made sports car to win LeMans. The car went on to win the next four LeMans races.

There’s some confusion over exactly Cruise will play. It’s not known when it will shoot either.

Ethan Hawke Reteaming With Andrew Niccol For Drone Pilot Thriller

October 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ethan-hawkeEthan Hawke has previously worked with director Andrew Niccol on Gattaca and Lord of War. Now they’re teaming up again, with Deadline reporting that they’re making a currenly untitled thriller set within the world of drone pilots.

Hawke will play a troubled pilot who live in Las Vegas and spends 12 hours a day operating drones, coming home to a bickering wife and children for the rest of his day. He begins to question his mission and whether or not his work fighting the Taliban is actually creating more terrorists than the ones he kills via remote control every day.

It isn’t known if Andrew Niccol wrote the screenplay, but since he has written all of his films in the past, it seems likely. Filming is due to begin during February 2014.
