New Inside Llewyn Davis Trailer – Fresh look at the Coen Brothers’ new movie

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If they’d stuck to the original plan, Inside Llewyn Davis would have already been and gone from cinemas, but it was pushed back to a Christmas US release in the hope of getting some awards recognition. Now we get a new taste of the Coen Brothers’ film with a new trailer.

Oscar Isaac stars as the title character, a folk singer making his way through the Greenwich Village music scene in the 1960s. The movie is loosely based on the life of folk singer Dave Van Ronk. Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Gerrett Hedlund, and John Goodman also star.

It certainly looks stylish, with plenty of the Coens’ trademark sharp dialogue, although it’s definitely one of their more idiosyncratic efforts. The film will be out in US on December 20th, with a January 2014 opening set for the UK. [Read more…]

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Cary-FukunagaDreamWorks has picked up the rights to Paul Kix’s upcoming book Noble Assassin, and they’ve already got a director attached, as Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre, Sin Nombre) has signed on, according to Deadline.

The film tells the true story of Robert de la Rochefoucauld, who was a mercenary for the French Resistance during World War II. He was trained in the dark arts and partook in the destruction of train stations and munitions factories. The war veteran also endured months of torture and escaped his own execution.
The book will be hitting U.S. shelves this October.

The film isn’t likely to shoot for a while, as Fukunaga is first set to make Beasts of No Nation, which recently added Idris Elba to star.

Benedict Cumberbatch Out Of Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Guillermo Del Toro started casting Crimson Peak earlier this year it surprised many as the movie isn’t due to shoot until next year. While he’d signed Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain, his gambit of getting actors early hasn’t completely paid off with one star, as Benedict Cumberbatch has exited the movie, according to THR.

He’s the second actor to bail, as in June Emma Stone bailed and has since been replaced by Mia Wasikowska.

Cumberbatch signed up in April, but now he’s out, with Legendary Pictures and Del Toro currently seeking a replacement for the Star Trek Into Darkness. The film is scheduled to begin production in February.

Guillermo del Toro is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Matthew Robbins and Lucinda Coxon. The project is said to revolve around a haunted house, but no specific story details have been confirmed. It’ll start shooting next February.

Bradley Cooper Sought To Voice Rocket Raccoon In Guardians Of The Galaxy

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooper-bathtubEarlier today, rumours emerged via Latino Review that Marvel was talking to Bradley Cooper about voicing Rocket Raccoon in Guardians Of The Galaxy. That’s now been confirmed by TheWrap. An offer has apparently been made to the actor, although it’s not know how close he is to signing (Cooper would provide the voice, although someone else will do the motion capture for the CGI character).

Rocket Raccoon started out with his own comic mini-series in the mid-80s before becoming part of the Guardian Of The Galaxy. He’s a talking Raccoon who a fast-talking member of the group that has vowed to protect the universe from the bad guys. Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey have both previously been rumoured for the role, but Cooper is apparently who director James Gunn wants.

In a recent interview Gunn said, “Here’s the thing: there are a lot of people who have a lot of ideas of who is right for Rocket Raccoon. Rocket Raccoon has been slightly different over the years, in the comic books, and within my scripts he is a very, very specific guy, and I think people are going to have to wait for a few weeks before they see. We’ll have to wait for a few weeks to see. We’ll get our dream guy, because a lot of people want to do it, so we’ll get the person who’s perfect for the role.”

The film recently began shooting in the UK, with an August 1st, 2014 release date set.

Olivia Munn Up To Join Johnny Depp’s Mortdecai

August 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Olivia-MunnFor a while it’s seemed that Hollywood has known Olivia Munn is a talent that could break out, but other than TV’s The Newsroom and small roles in the likes of Magic Mike, they haven’t quite known what to do with her. Know she’s scored a high profile role, as Deadline reports that she is in talks to join the cast of Mortdecai for director David Koepp.

Johnny Depp is attached to play the title role, an art dealer who searches for a painting rumoured to contain access to a secret bank account filled with Nazi gold. Parkland Trailer – Zac Efron works on a shot JFK

August 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination coming up in November, it’s little surprise a movie like Parkland is due out soon, which focusses on the hospital the President was taken to after he was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald (and where Oswald went when he was killed). Now the first trailer for the movie is here.

Billy Bob Thornton plays the head of Dallas’ Secret Service in the film, with Paul Giamatti as Abraham Zapruder, the man who took some infamous footage of the assassination (which many will remember from JFK). Marcia Gay Harden is the head nurse at the hospital, with Zac Efron as a rookie doctor who has to work on the President. Jeremy Strong plays Lee Harvey Oswald.

The movie’s US release has just been moved to early October, with a November 8th UK release currently set. [Read more…]

Katniss & Peeta Get A Hunger Games Victors Banner, Plus The First Poster For Terry Gilliam’s Zero Theorem

August 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

catching-fire-victory-panel-posterThe Victors Emerge is a new banner for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which show Katniss and Peeta looking slinky in skin-tight outfits. It’s the first in a series of pics due to debut on the new site, TheHungerGamesExplorer.com. The image sees them gearing up for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, also known as The Quarter Quell, which brings many past victors back to head go into the arena once more. The film’s out in November.

Also just released, via TheFilmStage, is the first poster for Terry Gilliam’s Zero Theorem. The movie is about an eccentric and reclusive computer genius (Christoph Waltz), who is plagued with existential angst while working on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence, or the lack thereof, once and for all. However, it is only once he experiences the power of love and desire that he is able to understand his very reason for being.

Ben Whishaw, Matt Damon, Tilda Swinton, David Thewlis, Mélanie Thierry, Lucas Hedges and Sanjeev Bhaskar co-star. The story, by Pat Rushin, was partially inspired by Gilliam’s own Brazil, so it’s very apt Terry has taken the project on.
