New Amazing Spider-man 2 Pics Reveal More Of Electro & Rhino

Yesterday we got our first official look at Amazing Spider-man 2 villain Electro with the new cover of EW, and now a load more images have been released from inside the mag’s Comic-Con 2013 preview issue.

They give us a better look at the creepy Electro, as well as Paul Giamatti’s Rhino’s, along with Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

It’s all looking pretty cool as Spider deals with his rising public profile as well as his promise to Gwen’s father to stay away from her – a promise he can’t keep – although hints at where the film series is going suggest that he ought to.

The Amazing Spider-man 2 hits cinemas May 2nd 2014. Click on the pics below for larger versions.

New Captain America: The Winter Soldier Concept Art Suggests An Epic Ending

At Comic-Con next weekend, Marvel will be showing off its upcoming movies, including Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Ahead of that they’ve released a pretty cool concept art image, via EW, which show the Cap going up against the titular Winter Soldier, while the world burns in the background.

Those who know the comics will be aware that The Winter Soldier is actually Captain America’s friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). In the first film he was last seen falling off a train, but now in the modern day he’s resurrected with his personality altered to go up against the Captain.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due out April 4, 2014.

Aaron Eckhart Isn’t Happy In The First Official I Frankenstein Image

It feels like we’ve been waiting for I, Frankenstein for aeons, but after lots of development issues with various directors coming and going, it’s finally coming with Stuart Beattie directing and Aaron Eckhart starring. And we’ve got the evidence as the first image has been released in the latest issue of EW.

The film is based on Kevin Grevioux’s graphic novel of the same name about Adam Frankenstein (Aaron Eckhart), the creation of Dr. Frankenstein, who is still alive centuries after his ‘birth’. Adam is hunted down by a clan of demons who want to learn Adam’s secret in order to reanimate deceased demons and start a new army.

Miranda Otto, Jai Courtney, Bill Nighy and Aden Young also star.

The release date has been slipping from February 2013 to September 2013 and now it’s due next January.

Disney Releases Nine New Frozen Character Portraits

Disney’s Frozen looks like it could be pretty good. Now the House Of Mouse is hoping to get us more interested by introducing us to the film’s characters with nine new images and descriptions, which you can see above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” presents “Frozen,” a stunning big-screen comedy adventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey—teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven—to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter. Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.

‘The film is directed by Chris Buck (“Tarzan,” “Surf’s Up”) and Jennifer Lee (screenwriter, “Wreck-It Ralph”), and produced by Peter Del Vecho (“Winnie the Pooh,” “The Princess and the Frog”). Featuring music from Tony® winner Robert Lopez (“The Book of Mormon,” “Avenue Q”) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (“In Transit”), “Frozen” is in UK cinemas in 3D on December 6, 2013’

Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) – Anna is more daring than graceful and, at times, can act before she thinks. But she’s also the most optimistic and caring person you’ll ever meet. She longs to reconnect with her sister, Elsa, as they were close during their childhood. When Elsa accidentally unleashes a magical secret that locks the kingdom of Arendelle in an eternal winter, Anna embarks on a dangerous adventure to make things right. Armed with only her fearlessness, a never-give-up attitude and her faith in others, Anna is determined to save both her kingdom and her family.
Duke of Weselton (voice of Alan Tudyk) – What the Duke of Weselton lacks in stature, he makes up for in arrogance and showboating. He’s determined to get close to the new queen—that is, until Elsa’s magical secret is revealed. Then he’s the first to call her a monster and try to turn her own kingdom against her—anything that might help him exploit Arendelle’s tradable goods.
Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel) – From the outside, Elsa looks poised, regal and reserved, but in reality, she lives in fear as she wrestles with a mighty secret—she was born with the power to create ice and snow. It’s a beautiful ability, but also extremely dangerous. Haunted by the moment her magic nearly killed her younger sister Anna, Elsa has isolated herself, spending every waking minute trying to suppress her growing powers. Her mounting emotions trigger the magic, accidentally setting off an eternal winter that she can’t stop. She fears she’s becoming a monster and that no one, not even her sister, can help her.
Hans (voice of Santino Fontana) – Hans is a handsome royal from a neighboring kingdom who comes to Arendelle for Elsa’s coronation. With 12 older brothers, Hans grew up feeling practically invisible—and Anna can relate. Hans is smart, observant and chivalrous. Unlike Elsa, Hans promises he’ll never shut Anna out; he just might be the connection she’s been waiting for all these years.
Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) – Kristoff is a true outdoorsman. He lives high up in the mountains where he harvests ice and sells it to the kingdom of Arendelle. Rough around the edges, Kristoff’s the strong, no-nonsense type, who follows his own set of rules. He may seem like a loner, but he always has his best friend by his side—a loyal and extremely mangy reindeer named Sven.
Marshmallow – Marshmallow is an enormous icy snowman born from Elsa’s powers. He serves as a brute bodyguard charged with keeping intruders away from her ice palace. The menacing white beast doesn’t say much, but he packs a powerful punch.
Oaken (voiced by Chris Williams) – Oaken runs Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna. But since Elsa’s massive winter storm hits in mid-July, he finds himself with a surplus of summer supplies. Deal-seekers beware: though he’s good-natured and helpful, if you cross him, Oaken won’t hesitate to throw you out of his humble establishment.
Olaf (voice of Josh Gad) – He’s Olaf and he likes warm hugs. Sprung from Elsa’s magical powers, Olaf is by far the friendliest snowman to walk the mountains above Arendelle. His innocence, outgoing personality and uncanny ability to disassemble himself at good and not-so-good times lead to some awkward, albeit laughable moments. He may also have the world’s most impossible dream, but what he doesn’t know won’t melt him—or will it?
Sven – A reindeer with the heart of a Labrador, Sven is Kristoff’s loyal friend, sleigh-puller and conscience. He makes sure his mountain-man companion is the stand-up guy Sven knows and loves, and does so without saying a word. A few emphatic snorts usually get his point across. Life would be perfect if only Kristoff would lose that ridiculous reindeer voice he likes to use when speaking for Sven (as if reindeers really talk that way).

Sam Mendes Confirmed To Direct Daniel Craig In Bond 24

Sam-MendesFollowing the $1 billion success of Skyfall, it’s little surprise that Eon Productions wanted Sam Mendes to come back and direct the 24th Bond movie. Now, after extended negotiations, Mendes has signed on the bottom line to helm the film.

It’s also been confirmed that Daniel Craig will once again return as the legendary British secret agent, working from a screenplay written by John Logan.  They’ve set a UK release date of October 23rd, 2015, while it’ll come to the US on November 6th, 2015.

Mendes commented, “I am very pleased that by giving me the time I need to honour all my theatre commitments, the producers have made it possible for me to direct Bond 24. I very much look forward to taking up the reins again, and to working with Daniel Craig, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for a second time.”

Of course, at the moment there’s no title for the movie or plot details.

Ben Affleck Offered The Lead In David Fincher’s Gone Girl

ben-affleckThere have been quite a few reports recently about Ben Affleck deciding what to direct next, but he may have to fit his plans for behind the camera around what he’s doing in front, as he’s now circling the male lead in the upcoming David Fincher thriller Gone Girl, according to Deadline.

It appears he’s been offered the role, but it isn’t clear whether negotiations are under way yet. If he does sign on, Affleck will make Gone Girl before moving on to starring in and directing Live by Night.

The film is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, following the husband (Affleck) of a woman who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary. Inevitably the hubby becomes the primary suspect in her mysterious disappearance. The wife is yet to be cast.

David Fincher is directing from an adapted screenplay that Gillian Flynn wrote herself.

Jason Clarke Reuniting With Tom Hardy For Child 44

Jason-ClarkeAussie actor Jason Clarke has been flirting with the edges of true movie stardom in the likes of The Thing, The Great Gatsby, Zero Dark Thirty and White House Down, and now he’s got another interesting role that will see him reunite with Lawless co-star Tom Hardy.

THR reports that Clarke has signed up for Child 44, which follows Tom Hardy’s character, a Soviet military police officer who investigates a string of brutal child murders in the 1950s, only to discover that he himself has become a target of his own government. Jason Clarke is playing a man named Brodsky, who is accused of being a traitor by the MP. Noomi Rapace is Tom Hardy’s wife, with Joel Kinnaman playing the military cop’s murderous co-worker. Paddy Considine, Gary Oldman, and Philip Seymour Hoffman also star,

Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) is directing from a script by Richard Price, which was adapted from Tom Rob Smith’s novel. Filming is already under way.

The Canyons Trailer – Lindsay Lohan & James Deen think cinema is dead

There’s been a lot of talk about The Canyons, the ultra-low budget movie from writer Bret Easton Ellis and director Paul Schrader. However most of those who’s actually seen it have suggested that while it hints at being something interesting, it’s not been fully realised. Steven Soderbergh even offered to re-edit it, to see whether he could tease it into something better. Schrader rejected the offer though.

Despite the mixed reaction, the talk about the film – from its sex scenes to profiles of Lohan’s difficult on-set behaviour – ensured it got US distribution, and will be in cinemas on August 2nd. Now there’s a slightly pretentious new trailer that seems believe cinema is dead!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Christian is a young LA trust-fund dude who’s financing a horror film simply to keep his dad off his back about doing something with his life. He has been dating Tara for about a year — she was an aspiring actress/model who settled down with him when the reality of the business became apparent to her. She’s now just Christian’s bored plaything. Christian’s assistant Gina is casting the film with assistance from Tara. Gina is pushing Ryan, her boyfriend and struggling actor, for the lead. Unbeknownst to either Christian or Gina, Ryan and Tara were a couple three years ago. When Ryan came back into Tara’s life during the auditions for the movie, they reignited their affair. But Christian, a dangerous control-freak, finds out about the affair and starts playing cruel mind games with both Tara and Ryan, which escalate into an act of bloody violence.’

Oldboy Red Band Trailer – Take a look at Spike Lee’s remake of Park Chan-Wook’s film

As we were promised, the first trailer for Spike Lee’s version of Oldboy has been released, which partially seems to be about trying to assuage fans of Park Chan-Wook’s original that this will be its own beast, while keeping the best bits of the original. To be honest, I don’t think it’s gonna help, as those who love Wook’s Oldboy, really love it and pretty much see Lee’s film as sacrilege, whatever it turns out to be like.

It does look like it might be okay though.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.’

Seventh Son Trailer – Plus a new poster for the Jeff Bridges fantasy

Young Adult fantasy has proved a difficult genre, as while success can be enormous, more often than not they barely make a dent at the box office. However after spending decades trying to get it off the ground, Jeff Bridges will be hoping audiences take to Seventh Son. Now we get our first taste with a trailer and poster.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more.

‘Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago.  But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance.  Summoning her followers of every incarceration, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world.

‘Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory. In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return.  Now he has only until the next full moon to do what normally takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a dark magic unlike any other.

‘Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.’
