New Girl Most Likely Trailer – Kristen Wiig and Darren Criss get quirky

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Wiig’s passion project, Girl Most Likely (previously known as Imogene) is heading for cinemas this July, and now a new trailer has dropped to give us a taste of its quirky sense of humour.

Wiig plays Imogene, who stages a fake suicide in the hope of winning back her ex. However her plan works a bit too well, as everyone thinks she really was trying to kill herself and so they put her in the custody of her gambling addict mother (Annette Bening). Imogene is thrust back into a life she hoped she’d left behind, but discovers that perhaps the things she’s shunned are just what she needs.

Darren Criss, Matt Dillon and Natasha Lyonne also star.

New Posters For Man Of Steel & Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Man-of-Steel-Poster2
The final poster for Man Of Steel poster has landed, as well as the very first teaser for Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, which you can see above and below.

Man Of Steel hits cinemas on June 14th, 2013, with Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, who has to deal with the fact he has tremendous power, which means he must spend his life knowing that if he loses control he could cause immense damage. It becomes even more pressing when General Zod arrives in Earth.

Nymphomaniac meanwhile stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Shia LaBeouf, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell and Christian Slater, and tells the story of a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, who recounts her adventures. Director Lars Von Trier has said he’ll cut two versions, one featuring hardcore sex for some territories, while others will get a softer version. It’s due out later this year.

New Marvel Pics From Thor: The Dark World, Guardians Of The Galaxy & Captain America 2

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

thor-the-dark-world-preview-pic1
EW
has dropped some new pics from Marvel’s upcoming movies, including a still of Chris Hemsworth looking heroic in Thor: The Dark World, plus concept art from Guardians Of The Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Marvel head honcho Kevin Fiege also has a few comments, saying “There are things in [Iron Man 3], in the next Thor movie, and particularly in the next Cap movie that will drastically change the landscape between Avengers and Avengers 2.”

On Captain America 2, he says, “Just as he’s given permission to let go of the past and to focus on the modern world… a ghost comes up.” That refers of the Captain’s old friend, Bucky Barnes, who’s resurrected, turned evil and becomes the Winter Soldier of the title.

Fiege adds, “We weren’t going back to World War II. Cap cannot travel in time. So while Tony can go home to Malibu and Thor goes up to Asgard and Hulk can sort of ride the rails, Cap was stuck. So Cap does stay with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he has nowhere else to go. But he’s not necessarily comfortable there…

“With the greatest generation in World War II, there’s a tendency to reflect on that period and say. ‘Things were black and white back then, and now it’s hard to know who the bad guys are.’ We wanted to play on that a little with Cap being uncomfortable with the way S.H.I.E.L.D., and in particular Nick Fury, operates. Fury certainly rides a line, sort of rides the shadows. He has, I think, lied to every character in every movie, though always for seemingly for the good.”

On the grittier, slightly more fantasy based Thor: The Dark World, he says, “It’s less to chase either Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings — because you’re not going to catch up. But part of the fun of Thor over the other characters is he doesn’t have to stay on Earth. We visit a few of the other realms in this new movie.”

As for Guardians, he says, “We can take it to all those crazy places as long as all the characters respond in an emotionally truthful way. That’s why I believe people are going to respond to Chris Pratt and to an alien Zoë Saldana—because they did respond to that one time before [with Avatar]. And to a tree and a raccoon who, it is certainly our intention, will steal the whole movie.”

Fiege also has a few words about Ant-Man, saying that later this year they’ll be refining the script of the Edgar Wright movie to tie it into the Marvel cinematic universe.

First Jurassic Park 4 Location Pic Hints At Return To Isla Nublar

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jurassic-park-4-location-picMany wondered why, after the first film, Jurassic Park never returned to the original island. One of the main reasons is that in Michael Crichton’s original book, Isla Nublar gets blown up, so when they were planning The Lost World they decided to go to a new island while skirting around the issue of what happened to the first island.

However for Jurassic Park IV, it seems we’re heading back to that first location, and now director Colin Trevorrow has tweeted a pic of the Hawaiian paradise that will become the film’s island, accompanied simply by the word ‘Nublar’.

There’s still no word of the specific plot, but a June 13th, 2014 release has been set and filming is due to begin this summer.

Ben Stiller In Early Talks To Direct Robert Downey Jr. In Pinocchio

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ben-StillerMany are suggesting that The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty will completely change people’s idea of Ben Stiller as a director. Indeed, after the first footage screened last month, there was very, very early Oscar buzz. Now he may take on another huge project, as Robert Downey Jr. has Stiller is in early talks to direct a live-action version of Pinocchio for Warner Bros, according to Deadline.

Official negotiations have not begun yet, although there have been discussions with writers for this new movie. Robert Downey Jr. is currently set to star as Geppetto, and will also produce with his wife Susan Downey. Ben Stiller’s involvement sprung from an interview Robert Downey Jr. gave for Iron Man 3, where the actor-producer said he wanted Ben Stiller to direct Pinocchio, after Tim Burton’s departure.

No story details have been given, although Robert Downey Jr. wants to go in a different direction than the movie he had planned with Tim Burton. If a deal comes together, the project would mark a reunion for Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr., who worked together on the hit 2008 comedy Tropic Thunder.

The Help’s Tate Taylor Set For Stephen King’s Joyland

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tate-TaylorTate Taylor had a massive success with his directorial debut, The Help, but so far he hasn’t made a follow-up. Now he’s got a new movie in the works, as Taylor has optioned Stephen King’s upcoming novel, Joyland, according to Deadline.

The official description of the book says that it is, ‘Set in a small-town North Carolina amusement park in 1973, Joyland tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a carny and confronts the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the ways both will change his life forever.’

The novel is due to be published in June.

The openly gay Taylor is planning to write the screenplay adaptation and direct. He’ll probably have to movie fast though, as fed up with people taking film rights to his books and then never actually making a film, King now allows people to option his novels for a small fee up front, but there is also a “ticking clock” aspect to ensure things keep moving towards the screen.

Twilight: Eclipse Helmer David Slade to Direct The Widow

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David-SladeDavid Slade hasn’t made a movie since he directed The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, spending much of his time launching TV series by helming early episodes of This American Housewife, Awake and Hannibal. However now he’s heading back to the movies, as he’s signed on to direct The Widow.

Ray Wright (The Crazies, Case 39) wrote the screenplay, which follows a young woman who becomes friends with a lonely widow, only to discover that their meeting was not by chance.

Vendome Pictures is backing the film, and its CEO, Philippe Rousselet, commented, “We are thrilled to be working on this piece with David. He is such a dynamic filmmaker, and we are excited about his vision to make this movie a throwback to some of the most iconic thrillers in cinematic history – not to mention the two females leads being the strongest and most interesting we have seen in some time.”

Bradley Cooper To Star In Chef & Steven Spielberg’s American Sniper

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooper-bathtuban After the success of Lincoln, Steven Spielberg has chosen his next movie and decided that he’s going to team up with actor Bradley Cooper for American Sniper, according to THR.

The action movie is based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, a Texas native who racked up the most confirmed sniper kills of anyone in US military history. Tragically though, he was killed by a fellow veteran at a shooting range last February (it’s not clear if that will be included in the movie).

Jason Dean Hall (Spread, Paranoia), is writing the screenplay. Shooting is tentatively scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2014. Spielberg was previously going to make Robopocalypse as his next film, but that film was put on hold by DreamWorks in January.

That’s not the only movie Cooper has signed up for though, as Deadline says he’ll star in Chef, which John Wells (August: Osage County) is closing a deal to direct. Derek Cianfrance was previously attached to helm, but he is no longer involved.

Cooper will play Adam Jones, a chef in Paris who ruins his reputation because of an addiction to controlled substances. He sobers up and returns to the City of Lights, determined to create the greatest restaurant in the world, with the goal of receiving three Michelin stars. Omar Sy co-stars. The film will shoot next year.

Jessica Chastain Joins Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jessica-ChastainJessica Chastain has tended to stick with dramas and Oscar-worthy fare, without going too far into the mainstream, but now she’s headed towards one of next year’s biggest sci-fi projects, as Deadline reports that Chastain is in talks to star in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.

The actress will play the third lead, joining Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway in the movie. Little is known about the story, although it’s been said it’s about a journey into outer space that redefines what we know about science and technology.

Originally set to be directed Steven Spielberg in its first incarnations, the idea for the movie was be based on the theories of physicist Kip S. Thorne, who believes that wormholes actually exist, and can be used for time travel.

Christopher Nolan is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother, Jonathan Nolan. It’s not clear when it will shoot, but a release date of November 7th, 2014 is already set.
