Benedict Cumberbatch Is Going To Find Out How to Stop Time

March 14, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Benedict Cumberbatch already cracked the enigma code in The Imitation Game, has been jumping through dimensions in Doctor Strange, and now he wants to find out How To Stop Time. Well, sort of. That’s the title of the latest film the actor has become attached to, at least.

How To Stop Time is the first adult novel in four years by Matt Haig. It tells the story of Tom Hazard (Cumberbatch), a man who may look like an ordinary 41-year-old but, owing to an extremely rare condition, has been alive for centuries. It’s described as ‘a wildly imagined love story that spans centuries and continents and cements Haig’s reputation as one of the most original and exciting novelists of his generation.’

As well as starring, Cumberbatch will Executive Produce the movie through his SunnyMarch production company. The novel will hit shelves this summer, although it’s not clear when we might get to see the movie.

Ridley Scott Directing Movie About Getty Kidnapping, With Natalie Portman Circling To Star

March 13, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ridley Scott is busy finishing up his latest Alien movie, Covenant, and while he’s promised there’s another trip into world of xenomorphs coming in the future, he’s planning something rather different before he completes his Alien prequel trilogy. Variety reports he’s set to direct a movie about the real-life kidnapping of the grandson of billionaire John Paul Getty, with Natalie Portman possibly starring.

The film will be about, ‘the 1973 kidnap in Italy of J. Paul Getty III — the rebellious teenage grandson of oil billionaire J. Paul Getty, who was reluctant to pay the $17 million ransom demanded by the kidnappers… The kidnappers sent a lock of hair and the teen’s severed right ear to the family to convince them pay the ransom. Harris and the boy’s father eventually convinced the elder Getty to pay a $2.9 million ransom, resulting in the teenager being freed after six months. He had been chained to a stake in a cave in Italy.’

Natalie Portman is circling the role of John Paul Getty III’s mother, Gail Harris, a role Angelina Jolie was recently offered, but turned down due to scheduling issues. Scott is planning to start shooting almost immediately after he’s completed publicity duties on Alien:Covenant, with filming set to begin in Italy in late May.

Wonder Woman Origin Trailer – Gal Gadot & Chris Pine are bringing the comic book action

March 12, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of months ago there were rumours that Wonder Woman was in trouble, and that the film was a bit of a mess. However, from the evidence of this trailer, it looks like it might be quite fun, not least because it seems to have a lighter tone and more of a sense of humour than most of the previous DC Universe movies. It also takes us back in time, for a superhero movie set during the First World War.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

‘Patty Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg and Jason Fuchs, based on characters from DC. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.’

The movie will be in cinemas in early June. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

The Little Mermaid Trailer – It’s a live-action family film, but it isn’t Disney

March 11, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Among the many classic animated movies Disney is planning to bring into the live-action arena is The Little Mermaid. However, they’ve been beaten to the punch by a rather different film that may share the same title but isn’t exactly Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved tale – although it certainly share a similar inspiration.

The film stars William Moseley, Loreto Peralta, Poppy Drayton, Gina Gershon and Shirley MacLaine. It follows a reporter and his niece who go to a circus in Mississippi. There they discover a creature they think might be a real mermaid. It does look a little cheesy, but it might be a decent family film.

Take a look at the trailer below. It’ll be released later this year. [Read more…]

Deadpool 2 Gets Zazie Beetz As Domino

March 11, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Deadpool 2 will be introducing us to some more new mutants we haven’t seen on the big screen before, and one who’ll be taking a major role is Domino, the expert marksman whose abilities allow her to alter the laws of probability, allowing her to control things such as bullets that are in her field of vision. While a few name have been rumoured for the role, it’s now been revealed that Zazie Beetz will take on the role.

Beetz is best known for starring in Donald Glover’s Atlanta, but this will be by far her highest profile film role so far. Ryan Reynolds revealed the news via the Tweet you can see below.

Now much has been announced about the plot, but it is known that Domino will be a major part of the movie, teaming up with Deadpool, who isn’t likely to want to do much teaming. Some have suggested that bringing Dominio in means Fox is hoping to move things towards an X-Force movie, the superhero team that Domino and sometimes Deadpool is a part of.

Deadpool 2 is expected in cinemas in 2018.

New Fast & Furious 8 Trailer – Is Vin Diesel really going against his crew?

March 9, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We still can’t believe that Vin Diesel is really going to go against the crew he’s bonded with over the last five movies, but the promos so far for Fast & Furious 8 certainly suggest that (don’t be shocked if in the actual movie it turns out not to be quite as clear cut as that). Now a new trailer has arrived, which wants to show that while they might be shaking up the formula a little, there’ll still be a lot of OTT action.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. The series welcomes newcomers Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Oscar® winner Helen Mirren.

‘Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.’

The movie will be in cinemas in April. [Read more…]

March 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Rough Night, an edgy R-rated comedy, five best friends from college (played by Scarlett Johansson, Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, and Zoë Kravitz) reunite 10 years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. Their hard partying takes a hilariously dark turn when they accidentally kill a male stripper. Amidst the craziness of trying to cover it up, they’re ultimately brought closer together when it matters most.’

Geostorm Trailer – Gerard Butler takes on the ultimate in extreme weather

March 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For many years, Dean Devlin has a master of disaster, producing the likes of Independence Day and 1998’s Godzilla. However, it’s only now that he’s stepping into the director’s chair, and he’s certainly hoping to destroy a lot of the world in the process.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the world’s leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrong—the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it’s a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything…and everyone along with it.

‘Dean Devlin (writer/producer, “Independence Day”) makes his feature film directorial debut with suspense thriller “Geostorm,” starring Gerard Butler (“Olympus Has Fallen,” “300”), Jim Sturgess (“Cloud Atlas”), Abbie Cornish (“Limitless”), Alexandra Maria Lara (“Rush”), Daniel Wu (“The Man with the Iron Fists,” “Warcraft: The Beginning”), with Oscar nominees Ed Harris (“The Hours,” “Apollo 13”) and Andy Garcia (“The Godfather: Part III”).

‘Butler stars as Jake, a scientist who, along with his brother, Max, played by Sturgess, is tasked with solving the satellite program’s malfunction. Cornish stars as Secret Service agent Sarah Wilson; Lara as Ute Fassbinder, the ISS astronaut who runs the space station; Wu as Cheng, the Hong Kong-based supervisor for the Dutch Boy Program; with Garcia as U.S. President Andrew Palma; and Harris as Secretary of State Leonard Dekkom. The film also stars Adepero Oduye (“The Big Short,” “12 Years a Slave”), Amr Waked (“Lucy,” “Syriana”), Robert Sheehan (“The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones,” “Season of the Witch”) and Eugenio Derbez (“Instructions Not Included”).’

Take a look at the trailer below. Geostorm will be in cinemas in October. [Read more…]
