Logan Super Bowl Spot – Hugh Jackman returns for one last mutant adventure

February 6, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been some pretty good buzz about Logan, and from what we’ve seen it’s like nothing we’ve seen from the X-Men universe before, which is underlined by this Super Bowl spot. It certainly shows that this is a far cry from Days Of Future Past, Apocalypse, or even The Wolverine. But it does look like it might be good.

Here’s the short synopsis: ‘In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.’

What that doesn’t quite get across is the rather bleak, western feel. The film is out March 1st. You can watch the Super Bowl spot and a new clip below. [Read more…]

Fast & Furious 8 Super Bowl Spot – Back into the world of OTT cars and action

February 6, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I don’t know why we get boring Fast & Furious names in the UK, but sadly we’re just getting Fast & Furious 8, while in the US it’ll be the more interesting The Fate Of The Furious. The give us a new taste, as Super Bowl spot has been released.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘On the heels of 2015’s Fast & Furious 7, one of the fastest movies to reach $1 billion worldwide in box-office history and the sixth-biggest global title of all time, comes the newest chapter in one of the most popular and enduring motion-picture serials of all time: Fast & Furious 8.

‘Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

‘From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.

‘For Fast & Furious 8, Vin Diesel is joined by a returning all-star cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to Theron, the series welcomes newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar® winner Helen Mirren. The film is directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) and produced by returning producers Neal H. Moritz, Michael Fottrell and Diesel.’

The movie will be in cinemas next April. [Read more…]

John Wick: Chapter 2 Super Bowl Spot – The action flick trolls Fifty Shades fans

February 6, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

You wouldn’t think those people who can’t wait for the release of Fifty Shades Darker would be the same ones hoping to watch John Wick: Chapter 2, but the action movie decided to have a bit of fun with them with its Super Bowl spot. The short ad initially looks like it will be for Fifty Shades, before revealing itself to be something else.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.’

Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane also star, with Chad Stahelski directing. The film will be out in the US on Friday and arrives in the UK on February 17th. [Read more…]

A Cure For Wellness Super Bowl Spot – Gore Verbinski takes Dane DeHaan into a strange world

February 6, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There were quite a few movies that ponied up the cash for a 30 second spot during the Super Bowl. They might be expensive, with with over 100 million Americans watching, it can be worth it. One of the films that featured during the game break was The Cure For Wellness.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure.’

The movie will be in UK cinemas on February 24th. [Read more…]

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge Extended Super Bowl Spot – Back on the high seas with Jack Sparrow

February 6, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Disney hasn’t hyped the return of Pirates of the Caribbean with Salazar’s Revenge (Dead Men Tell No Tales in the US) as much as we might have expected. However, they did give the movie a Super Bowl spot, with an extended version released online, which you can take a look at below.

It also confirms the return of Orlando Bloom, who looks like he’s been having a few problems since we last saw him in the franchise.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.’

It’ll be in cinemas in May. [Read more…]

Transformers: The Last Knight Extended Super Bowl Spot – And Michael Bay says again he’s leaving the franchise

February 5, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Michael Bay said he was only directing three Transformers films, but then he agreed to make a fourth. That though, he said, would definitely be the last, before he signed on to help a fifth one. However, this time he seems to really mean it, as alongside The Last Knight’s Super Bowl spot, Bay has released a statement underlining that this will be his final time as director (although he does leave the door open).

He also seems keen to suggest this film will be a bit of a departure from what’s gone before, although I’m sure that doesn’t mean he will have given up on exploding everything in site. Take a look at Bay’s statement below and the new Super Bowl spot underneath that.

I’ve been living in this franchise for over 10 years now. For Transformers: The Last Knight, we put together a writers’ room designed to greatly expand our mythology, integrating our films in a whole new way. Every movie will interlink.

It was a huge task to expand mythology from the beginning of the world throughout history. We had a great team of writers: Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind); Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man); Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down); Zak Penn (Ready Player One); Lindsey Beer (Barbie); Geneva RobertsonDworet (Tomb Raider); Christina Hodson (Bumblebee); Steven DeKnight (Daredevil, Smallville); Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Lost); and Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man).

Through the summer of 2015, they worked in a huge space on the Paramount lot, surrounded by over 10,000 concept images from the franchise’s history: the movies, cartoons, and comic books. They had a life-size Bumblebee, a Megatron head, and many other props staring them down. We pulled from everything. It was a fan’s dream room.

We brought in Transformers historians from Hasbro to educate them on where Transformers has been – so that they could figure out where it can go. I can safely say that there’s never been a Transformers film with the huge visual scope and expansive mythology as this movie, The Last Knight.

It’s bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I’ve said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make- A-Wish kids who visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I’m blowing this one out.

It’s a final chapter and a new beginning. Here’s the writers’ log line:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference.

In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours. [Read more…]

Personal Shopper Trailer – Kristen Stewart has an unusual haunting

February 5, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Personal Shopper certainly divided audiences at Cannes last year eliciting boos at the critics screening and a standing ovation the next night on its official premiere. The Times summed it up as, ‘Think of an episode of Scooby-Doo, add product placement by Chanel, plus a soupçon of French existentialism, and you have some sense of the sheer bonkersness of Personal Shopper.’

The film is heading towards its March general release, and as a result a trailer has arrived.

In the movie, ‘A young American in Paris works as a personal shopper for a celebrity. She seems to have the ability to communicate with spirits, like her recently deceased twin brother. Soon, she starts to receive ambiguous messages from an unknown source.’

Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Life Super Bowl Spot – Jake Gyllenhaal & Ryan Reynolds find life on Mars

February 5, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The poor old International Space Station. It floats around doing good for science, but in the movies it’s a hotseat of problems, whether it’s getting smashed to smithereens in Gravity, or now in Life, being the location for a dangerous first contact with alien intelligence.

The Super Bowl spot for the movie has been released, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Life tells the story of the six-member crew of the International Space Station that is on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As the crew begins to conduct research, their methods end up having unintended consequences and the life form proves more intelligent than anyone ever expected.’

The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Olga Dihovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Ryan Reynolds. It’ll be in cinemas May 2017. [Read more…]

Fist Fight Red Band Trailer – Charlie Day and Ice Cube are gonna go toe-to-toe

February 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Synopsis: ‘Ice Cube (“Barbershop: The Next Cut,” the “Ride Along” movies) and Charlie Day (“Horrible Bosses,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) star as high school teachers prepared to solve their differences the hard way in the comedy “Fist Fight,” directed by Richie Keen (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”).

‘On the last day of the school year, mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell (Day) is trying his best to keep it together amidst outrageous senior pranks, a dysfunctional administration and budget cuts that are putting his job on the line just as his wife is expecting their second baby.

‘But things go from bad to worse when Campbell crosses the school’s toughest and most feared teacher, Ron Strickland (Ice Cube), causing Strickland to be fired. To Campbell’s shock—not to mention utter terror—Strickland responds by challenging him to a fist fight after school. News of the fight spreads like wildfire as Campbell takes ever more desperate measures to avoid getting the crap beaten out of him. But if he actually shows up and throws down, it may end up being the very thing this school, and Andy Campbell, needed.

‘“Fist Fight” also stars Tracy Morgan (“30 Rock”), Jillian Bell (“22 Jump Street”), Dean Norris (“Breaking Bad”), Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”), Dennis Haysbert (“The Unit”), JoAnna Garcia Swisher (“The Astronaut Wives Club”) and Kumail Nanjiani (“Silicon Valley”). The cast also includes an ensemble of young actors, including twins Charlie Carver and Max Carver (“Desperate Housewives,” “Teen Wolf”), Austin Zajur in his major feature film debut, and Alexa Nisenson (“Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life”).’

The movie will be in UK cinemas on March 3rd. [Read more…]
