The Emoji Movie Trailer Yep, they’re making an entire animated movie about Emojis

December 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For the last few years Hollywood has been well aware the Internet has caused a major shift for how people are accessing entertainment, but they haven’t been 100% sure what to do about it. It seems that in a seemingly desperate attempt to get down with the kids, somebody at Sony decided it would be a good idea to make an entire movie about Emojis.

Now the first trailer for the film has arrived, and while it’s supposed to be ironic, it just seems to point out what a precarious idea the movie is based on. However, perhaps I’m wrong, as The Lego Movie seemed like a non-starter, but that turned out to be awesome.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘EMOJIMOVIE: EXPRESS YOURSELF unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone’s user. In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression – except for Gene (T.J. Miller), an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become “normal” like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 (James Corden) and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak (Ilana Glazer). Together, they embark on an epic “app-venture” through the apps on the phone, each its own wild and fun world, to find the Code that will fix Gene. But when a greater danger threatens the phone, the fate of all emojis depends on these three unlikely friends who must save their world before it’s deleted forever.’

The film will be in cinemas next August. [Read more…]

A Cure For Wellness Trailer – Director Gore Verbinski takes Dane DeHaan into a strange world

December 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Before Gore Verbinski spent many years making Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, he really broke out with the US remake of The Ring. Now he’s returning to the horror realm for the freaky looking A Cure For Wellness.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An ambitious young executive is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious “wellness center” at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure. From Gore Verbinski, the visionary director of THE RING, comes the new psychological thriller, A CURE FOR WELLNESS.

New Justice League Pic Shows Batman, Wonder Woman & The Flash

December 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s been easy to forget that in less than a year, DC/Warner will be really upping their game with Justice League, which will bring together the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Superman, Aquaman and Cyborg. To remind us, a new pic has arrived via EW, showing the first three of those superheroes lining up.

Of course, before next November’s Justice League, Wonder Woman will be getting her own standalone movie next June, while solo movies for the other characters are already mapped between now and 2019. DC will be hoping these film are better received than than the likes of Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, which made decent amounts of cash, but haven’t been able to dent Marvel’s superiority in the critical and fanboy stakes.

The Justice League mash-up certainly has plenty of potential though. Expect it in cinemas next November.

Dick Van Dyke Confirms He’ll Be In Mary Poppins Returns

December 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There will be plenty of new faces entering the world of Mary Poppins for Disney’s planned sequel, Mary Poppins Returns. However, one familiar face has confirmed he’ll appear in the movie.

Dick Van Dyke, who famous played Poppins’ chimney sweep friend Bert in the 1964 classic, has said he’ll be back, although it doesn’t appear he’ll be playing that character again. Instead he’s suggested he’ll play the son of the banker, which is fitting, because as well as Bert, Van Dyke also played the ancient banker Mr. Dawes Senior in the earlier movie.

He told ET, “This one supposedly takes place 20 years later and the kids are all grown up. It’s a great cast – Meryl Streep, Angela Lansbury and that guy from Hamilton [Lin-Manuel Miranda]… I’ll be going to London in the spring to do my role and I get to do a little song-and-dance number. I gotta be a part of it.”

It’s certainly impressive that at 91 he’s still acting and ready to do a bit of dancing. However, it’s perhaps not too surprising, as he’s said that he never wants to stop working, as it’s what helps keep him active, happy and helping.

The follow-up will be set in the 1930s and follow Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane Banks (Emily Mortimer), as well as their children, after a major event takes place in their lives. That event results in the return of the magical Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt), who teams up with Jack (Lin Manuel Miranda) to help the family. Meryl Streep will also star as Poppins’ cousin Topsy, while Coling Firth will be William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray, Smash) will write the songs, with David Magee penning the script, based on PL Travers other Poppins stories. Rob Marshall is set to direct, with a December 2018 release date set.

John Wick: Chapter 2 Trailer Keanu Reeves is ready to kick ass once more!

December 19, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

John Wick got a lot of praise, not necessarily for its plot, but for its almost comic book style and for the quality of its action. Indeed, it reminded many of why pure action has always been so popular. Now it’s coming back for a sequel.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this next chapter following the 2014 hit, legendary hitman John Wick [Keanu Reeves] is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.’

Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo and Ian McShane also star, with Chad Stahelski directing. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Blade Runner 2049 Announcement Trailer – Deckard & the Replicants are back (with Ryan Gosling in tow)

December 19, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s easy to forget now that on its release, Blade Runner was considered a bit of a flop. Since then it’s become one of the defining sci-fi movies of the last 40 years. Even so, when it was revealed a follow-up was in the works, many were uncertain.

And to be honest, I’m not sure this announcement trailer will silence the naysayers. While there are hints towards the original, from neon lighting to Vangelis-style synth strings, its also trying to show it’s something a little bit different – although quite what that difference will be still isn’t clear.

It’s certainly intriguing though, with Ryan Gosling stepping into the central role in a world of humans and replicants. But as you’ve probably guessed, an old face also reappears – Harrison Ford, revisiting his past classic as he did in The Force Awakens and the last Indiana Jones movies.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.’

Blade Runner 2049 will be in cinemas next October. [Read more…]

Going In Style Trailer – Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman & Alan Arkin go old man bank robbing

December 19, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bank robbing isn’t normally a good idea at the best of times, but when you’re all pensioners it’s probably best something to avoid altogether. However, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin obviously feel differently in the new movie, Going In Style.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Oscar winners Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”), Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and Alan Arkin (“Little Miss Sunshine”) team up as lifelong buddies Willie, Joe and Al, who decide to buck retirement and step off the straight-and-narrow for the first time in their lives when their pension fund becomes a corporate casualty, in director Zach Braff’s comedy “Going in Style.”

‘Desperate to pay the bills and come through for their loved ones, the three risk it all by embarking on a daring bid to knock off the very bank that absconded with their money.

‘The film also stars two-time Oscar nominee Ann-Margret (“Tommy,” “Carnal Knowledge”) as Annie, a grocery cashier who’s been checking Al out in more ways than one. Joey King (“Wish I Was Here”) stars as Joe’s whip-smart granddaughter, Brooklyn; with Oscar nominee Matt Dillon (“Crash”) as FBI Agent Hamer; and Christopher Lloyd (“Back to the Future” trilogy) as the guys’ lodge buddy, Milton. John Ortiz (“Silver Linings Playbook”) also stars as Jesus, a man of unspecified credentials who agrees to show the guys the ropes, and Peter Serafinowicz (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) as Joe’s former son-in- law, Murphy, whose pot clinic connections may finally prove useful.

‘Zach Braff (“Garden State”) directs from a screenplay by Theodore Melfi (“St. Vincent”).’

The film will be in cinemas next April. [Read more…]

The Boss Baby Trailer – A young boy gets a very unusual baby brother

December 15, 2016 By Tim Isaac 2 Comments

A new baby can often cause jealousy with older siblings, but things go a bit further than that in The Boss Baby, where the new addition to the family wears a suit, carries a briefcase, and can talk. Take a look at the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby.  He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby.  The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim.  With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.’

The Boss Baby will be in UK cinemas in next April. [Read more…]

Unforgettable Trailer – Katherine Heigl goes nuts when Rosario Dawson gets with her ex

December 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Somehow I don’t think this movie will be held up in the future as a paragon of 21st Century feminism, but hey, it could be kind of fun in a Fatal Attraction/Single White Female way. Now a trailer for the movie has arrived, suggesting things are gonna get pretty extreme between Katherine Heigl and Rosario Dawson.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Katherine Heigl (“27 Dresses,” “Knocked Up”) and Rosario Dawson (the “Sin City” films) star in the film. “Unforgettable” marks a reunion for Heigl and Di Novi, who previously collaborated on “Life as We Know It.”

‘The main cast also includes Geoff Stults (TV’s “Zoo”), young actress Isabella Rice (“True Blood”), Simon Kassianides (TV’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Whitney Cummings (“The Wedding Ringer”), Robert Wisdom (TV’s “Chicago PD”) and film and television star Cheryl Ladd.

‘The film is being produced by Di Novi, Alison Greenspan (“If I Stay”) and Ravi D. Mehta (“Grudge Match”), from a screenplay by Christina Hodson.

‘Heigl stars as Tessa Connover, who is barely coping with the end of her marriage when her ex-husband, David (Stults), becomes happily engaged to Julia Banks (Dawson)—not only bringing Julia into the home they once shared but also into the life of their daughter, Lilly (Isabella Rice). Trying to settle into her new role as a wife and a stepmother, Julia believes she has finally met the man of her dreams, the man who can help her put her own troubled past behind her. But Tessa’s jealousy soon takes a pathological turn until she will stop at nothing to turn Julia’s dream into her ultimate nightmare.’

The movie will be in cinemas next April. [Read more…]

Dunkirk Trailer – Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance & Harry Styles go to war for Christopher Nolan

December 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Yesterday we got the first official poster for Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, and that’s now been followed by a trailer. While it’s certainly intriguing, it’s perhaps not quite as big as you might have expected, and doesn’t really explain much about the plot, but it does do a decent job of making it look like a slightly more hopeful version of Saving Private Ryan.

It also briefly shows that this marks Harry Styles’ acting debut.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘”Dunkirk” features a prestigious cast, including Tom Hardy (“The Revenant,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Inception”), Mark Rylance (“Bridge of Spies,” “Wolf Hall”), Kenneth Branagh (“My Week with Marilyn,” “Hamlet,” “Henry V”) and Cillian Murphy (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy), as well as newcomer Fionn Whitehead. The ensemble cast also includes Harry Styles (One Direction) making his feature film debut.

‘Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar,” “Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy) is directing “Dunkirk” from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 65mm film to bring the story to the screen.

‘“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.’

The film will be in cinemas next July. [Read more…]
