Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer – Peter Parker gets some advice from Tony Stark

December 9, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s here – the first trailer for Spider-man: Homecoming. It has to be said it’s pretty cool, with some great action, a menacing Michael Keaton as the Vulture, and Robert Downey Jr. showing up as Tony Stark to give the young Peter Parker a bit of advice.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.’

Take a look at the new trailer below (we’ve included both the international and US versions). It’ll be in cinemas next July. [Read more…]

Baywatch Trailer – Dwayne Johnson & Zac Efron prove just how much time they’ve spent in the gym

December 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

From the evidence of this first trailer for Baywatch, Zac Efron is trying to very slowly turn into the Hulk – he may start turning green at some point, although for this movie, he’s gone for orange. The man has the most ridiculously defined, bulging torso. But then, he may not see it that way, as perhaps he was feeling puny next to the bulk of Dwayne Johnson.

Either way, the sight of both of them with their shirts off is quite impressive.

The film is, of course, based on the hit 90s TV series. As you might expect being taken from show that’s known for being pretty cheesy, the film keeps it’s tongue firmly in its cheek. And yes, there is some slo-mo running in swimsuits.

Take a look at the trailer below.Baywatch will be in cinemas next summer. [Read more…]

Spider-man: Homecoming Trailer Tease – Plus a pic of Tom Holland in his Spidey suit

December 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While many were dubious about yet another reboot of Spider-man, Tom Holland certainly made in impression in Captain America: Civil War, which ensures that there’s plenty of anticipation for Spider-man: Homecoming. We should be getting the first full trailer shortly, but as a warm-up, a brief teaser and a new pic from the movie has arrived.

Not a vast amount of plot details have been released, but Tom Holland tells USA Today that the movie is “more a character piece about this kid who’s struggling to talk to girls and also struggling to save the city.” He also adds that while it’s not yet another Spidey origin story,  “This is really a movie where Spider-Man’s not the finished article. He really does learn and he makes massive mistakes. It’s nice to see a kid do that and then try to rectify those mistakes.”

Take a look at the teaser below. [Read more…]

The Wall Trailer – Aaron Taylor-Johnson & John Cena get trapped in war for Doug Liman

December 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Doug Liman’s last movie was told on a massive scale, with Edge Of Tomorrow having huge sets, special effects. However, for his new movie, he’s paring things back to single location, but it’s a location with plenty of potential.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“The Wall” follows two soldiers pinned down by an Iraqi sniper, with nothing but a crumbling wall between them. Their fight becomes as much a battle of will and wits as it is of lethally accurate marksmanship. Directed by Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Edge of Tomorrow”), “The Wall” stars Aaron Taylor Johnson (“Nocturnal Animals,” Kick-Ass,” “Savages” “Godzilla,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) and WWE star John Cena (“Trainwreck,” “Daddy’s Home”), Written by first-time screenwriter Dwain Worrell, “The Wall,” was produced by Amazon Studios, Big Indie Pictures and Picrow. The film is produced by David Bartis. Executive Producer is Ray Angelic. Associate Producer is Alison Winter. FilmNation is handling international sales.’

Take a look at the trailer below. It’ll be in US cinemas next March, and should be out in the UK around the same time. [Read more…]

Kate McKinnon Gets Her First Lead Role In Amblin’s The Lunch Witch

December 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Out actress/comedienne Kate McKinnon has gained a lot of fans thanks to Saturday Night Live, and this year she got her biggest movie role yet in Ghostbusters. However, she’s never had a lead role in a film, until now.

Variety reports that Kate has signed up to play the central part in The Lunch Witch, Amblin’s planned movie based on the book by Deb Lucke. She will play, ‘Grunhilda, who has inherited generations worth of magical recipes. But when no one believes in magic anymore, she is forced to apply to be a school lunch lady, thanks to her knack for cooking up foul dishes. While she spends most of her time scaring the children at the school while serving them lunch, Grunhilda accidentally befriends a shy girl who needs help both at school and at home, given her timidness, something a witch like Grunhilda has a tough time following through on.’

Clay Kaytis is set to direct the movie, although it’s not clear when the movie might shoot.

Greg Berlanti To Direct Little Shop of Horrors Musical Reboot

December 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems like out producer/director Greg Berlanti may be moving away from being so actively involved in TV’s Arrow-verse (as well as producing Life As We Know It and the upcoming Riverdale – he’s a really, really busy man) and back towards the movie world.

He’s already putting together Simon Vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which we reported yesterday has Jurassic World’s Nick Robinson attached to star, and now he’s got another movie in development, a new version of Little Shop Of Horror. The film will be a musical, presumably using the classic songs by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken from their 1982 stage version, which became a movie starring Rick Moranis. (Oddly though, the Deadline story that first reported the news doesn’t 100% specify it’ll be the Menken/Askman music).

Little Shop started out as a low budget 1960 Roger Corman b-movie, about a young man who comes across an unusual plant. However, it turns out the plant is carnivorous and wants human flesh, and so the man begins to kill to feed it. He gains fame for his emornos flora, but has to murder to get it. The 1980s musical added plenty of great 50s style tune, with the plant gaining a wisecracking, mischievous voice, courtesy of Levi Stubbs.

Matthew Robinson is writing the script for the movie, although there’s no info on when we might see it. Although the 80s version is brilliant and even now has special effects that are truly astonishing, it’ll be interesting to see what a new version might be like.

New Fifty Shades Darker Trailer – Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson get steamy again

December 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Fifty Shades movies are a peculiar phenomenon. The first trailer for Fifty Shades Darker broke the record for most views in 24 hours, but it’s a franchise that barely seems to register for those who didn’t immediately watch the trailer, with very people in between.

Now a second trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson return as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades Darker, the second chapter based on the worldwide bestselling “Fifty Shades” phenomenon.  Expanding upon events set in motion in 2015’s blockbuster film that grossed more than $560 million globally, the new installment arrives for Valentine’s Day and invites you to slip into something a shade darker.

‘When a wounded Christian Grey tries to entice a cautious Ana Steele back into his life, she demands a new arrangement before she will give him another chance.  As the two begin to build trust and find stability, shadowy figures from Christian’s past start to circle the couple, determined to destroy their hopes for a future together.

‘Also returning from Fifty Shades of Grey are Academy Award® winner Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Ehle, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, Victor Rasuk, Eloise Mumford and Max Martini, who are joined for the first time by Oscar® winner Kim Basinger, Hugh Dancy, Bella Heathcote and Eric Johnson.

‘Fifty Shades Darker is directed by James Foley (Fear, House of Cards) and once again produced by Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Marcus Viscidi, alongside E L James, the creator of the culture-spanning blockbuster series.  The screenplay is by Niall Leonard, based on the novel by James.’

The movie will be in cinemas in February. [Read more…]

The Founder Trailer – Michael Keaton takes on McDonald’s Ray Kroc biopic

December 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Founder has had mixed notices in early reviews, but most people agree that Michael Keaton is great in the movie, and may well be in with a shot of an Oscar nomination. Now a new trailer for the movie has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘THE FOUNDER, directed by John Lee Hancock (THE BLIND SIDE, SAVING MR. BANKS), features the true story of how Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a struggling salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers’ speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. Writer Robert Siegel (THE WRESTLER) details how Kroc maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire. The film also stars Laura Dern as Ray Kroc’s first wife Ethel; Linda Cardellini as his second wife Joan Smith; John Carroll Lynch as Mac McDonald and Nick Offerman as Dick McDonald.’

The movie is getting an Oscar qualifying run starting today, before getting a full release in the US in January and the UK in February. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Damian Lewis Will Be Getting Villainous In Ocean’s Eight

December 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A great cast including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson and Awkwafina has already been lined up to be the female thieves in Ocean’s Eight. However, the heist team needs someone to go up against, and now they’ve found them in the form of Damian Lewis.

Variety reports that he’s in final talks to play the villain in the movie. Plot details are still being kept secret, so it’s not known exactly what Lewis will be doing, but he’ll presumably be causing trouble for Bullock and co. Dakota Johnson also stars, while Matt Damon is reported to be making a cameo, to help connect the film to the other Ocean’s movie.

Hunger Games helmer Gary Ross recently started shooting the movie New York. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the Ocean’s 11 trilogy, will produce.

Transformers: The Last Knight Trailer – The robots are going time-travelling

December 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

transformers-last-knight-slideAfter watching this trailer, you can almost seen the first few meetings for the latest Transformers movie, where they were trying to figure out what the hell they were going to do, so it wouldn’t seem exactly like the previous ones. Normally when that happens with a film series, they send the characters on holiday for the next sequel, but that wouldn’t really work for Optimus Prime and co, so they’ve gone for the other standby – time-travel.

Don’t worry though, this is Michael Bay, so lots of things are still going to explode.

The trailer doesn’t tell us a vast amount about the plot, but it is known that brings the robots together with King Arthur, Nazis and new dinobots, with Optimus Prime needing to find an artifact on Earth that may be able to bring Cybertron back to life.

The movie will be out next summer. [Read more…]
