Jason Bourne Trailer – Matt Damon is back in action as the former secret agent

April 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jason-bourne-pic1After leaving the franchise behind, it surprised many when Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass were planning to return to the Bourne franchise. However, that’s exactly what they’ve done and now the first official trailer for the movie had arrived.

Along with the promo comes a poster as well as some comments from Greengrass, who says, “Jason Bourne isn’t a super hero; he doesn’t wear a cape or a mask. He’s not one of those kinds of guys. He is just an ordinary man. I think when people watch Jason Bourne they can imagine how they might react in those situations and those circumstances, and when you see him thinking his way through and coming up with a plan and executing his plan, that’s incredibly exciting.”

He adds, “It has taken us a long time to come back because we didn’t have the right story before. The world needed to change and then there comes that moment when it makes sense. You know when it feels right and that’s when you do it, not before.”

Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones also star.

Jason Bourne will be released in UK cinemas July 27th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

First Look At A Rather Green Elizabeth Banks As Rita Repulsa In The Power Rangers Movie

April 19, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

power-rangers-elizabeth-banksElizabeth Banks can’t have had enough of going to the extremes of fashion as Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games movie, as the first image of her as Rita Repulsa in the new Power Rangers movie is a bit of a Capitol wet dream. She certainly looks better than the original Rita, who often seemed to be wearing a duvet.

Hopefully Banks’ take on the character will also be a bit more ingenious than the original, whose only plan was to take take something small, make it enormous and then the Power Rangers would turn into a giant robot to beat it up. The actress is keen to point out that things have indeed changed, telling People, “I’ve never played a villain before. It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers.”

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.’

The film also stars R.J. Cyler as Billy (the Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott as Kimberly (the Pink Ranger), Ludi Lin as Zack (the Black Ranger), Becky G as Trini (the Yellow Ranger), and Dacre Montgomery as Jason (the Red Ranger). The film will be out March 2017.

McTucky Fried High Season 2 Trailer – The animated school of LGBTQ food is coming back

April 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

McTucky-Fried-High-s2-slideAn animated web series about a high school where all the students are different kinds of food, many of whom are queer, sounds a bit too kooky to be all that good. However, with its first season McTucky Fried High proved that not only could it be entertaining and fun, but could also make some very relevant point.

Now, after looking for funding a few months ago, it’s coming back with Season 2, and the trailer has arrived. Season 2 premieres June 6th, 2016, running for 7 episodes, with the season finale on July 18th, 2016. Season 1 received the Critic’s Choice Award at Shorts Showcase – Palm Springs 2016, has over 56,000 views on YouTube, screened at film festivals around the world and received plenty of praise.

The show is McTucky Fried High stands one of the only LGBTQ animated cartoons out there, and promised that, ‘Season 2 uses humor to tackle religion, racism, feminism, and STD’s while foregrounding and affirming LGBTQ characters and experiences. McTucky Fried High is leading the way with cartoons like Steven Universe, the Legend of Korra, and Gen Zed featuring specifically LGBTQ characters and story lines.

‘Creator, Director and Executive Producer Robert-Carnilius uses his own life, creative passions and community involvement in hopes of generating an entertaining, insightful and humorous cartoon. The McTucky Fried High cast and crew are also comprised predominantly of LGBTQ people and people of color, going beyond visibility by using personal empowerment to shape and create media that has a personal, political and artistic impact.’

Take a look at the trailer below. You can check out Season 1 over at the show’s website. [Read more…]

King Cobra Director Says The Actors Took Gay Sex Beyond The Script, Plus A New Clip

April 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

king-cobra-slide2Last week the first clip from King Cobra debuted, giving us a brief taste of the James Franco produced (and starring), based on a true story of murder in the gay porn industry. Now director Justin Kelly has been talking about the film, which premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival, and has suggested his actors weren’t shy when it came to the sex scene.

He told TheWrap, “We wanted to make it as unapologetic as possible. I didn’t have a desire to shock – it’s a part of the story. Myself and the actors discussed from day one that you can’t shy away.”

It appears the performers took that to heart, as Kelly adds, ‘“A few times, the actors took things further than the script.”

‘He referenced an early scene in which Slater’s middle-aged character wants to sample the goods of his barely legal young star, played by Clayton. “Please, make me feel wanted,” he says as he half begs and half forces himself on the young man.

‘In the script, the encounter “was far more mild, just kissing on the couch,” Kelly said. “But they decided it had to go further. Christian takes him up against the closet. That is what would have happened.”’

The film is about how porn actors Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes (Keegan Allen and James Franco) savagely killed porn producer and head of Cobra Video, Bryan Kocis (Christian SLater). They thought by doing so they’d be able to make it big behind-the-scenes of the porn world, and lure breakout porn star Brent Corrigan (Garrett Clayton) to work for them in order to make a massively successful movie.

Kelly was well aware that the subject matter could make it difficult to get a fair rating from the MPAA, saying, especially if he did want to be unapologetic about gay sex, saying,“It’s a complete fact that graphic gay male sex will get you an NC-17 rating. Straight men can [appear] completely naked and be choking a woman, and that’s PG-13. There are crazy rape scenes that get by, it’s mind-blowing.”

A new clip from the movie has also debuted, featuring Franco and Allen working up a sweat, which you can take a look at below. [Read more…]

Equals Trailer – Nicholas Hoult & Kristen Stewart aren’t allowed to fall in love

April 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Equals-slide2It’s forbidden love time for Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart in a dystopian future. Indeed, they’re not even meant to be able to fall in love in Equals, which has just released its full trailer.

In the film, Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart live in a gloomy, sterile world, where emotion has been outlawed and is virtually non-existent. However, the human spirit won’t take that lying down, and some people get a disease known as ‘Switched On Syndrome’, where they begin to have feelings. As a result, Hoult and Stewart start to fall in love.

Guy Pearce, Jacki Weaver, Bel Powley, Kate Lyn Sheil, and Claudia Kim also start, with a summer release expected. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Birth Of A Nation Teaser Trailer – First look at Nate Parker’s acclaimed slave drama

April 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

birth-of-a-nation-slideWhen Nate Parker – who’d previously been best known as an actor – started working on Birth Of A Nation, which he planned to write, direct and star in, many thought he’d have trouble getting it made. They weren’t wrong, and when he ended up financing a large chunk of it himself, there were some who thought he was being foolhardy, despite the relevance of the subject matter.

However, then it opened at Sundance to ecstatic reviews, won both the Audience and Grand Jury prizes, and scored the biggest deal ever to come out of the festival, with Fox Searchlight picking it up for $17.5 million. Suddenly it wasn’t Parker who people thought was being foolish, but the film industry, which has failed to see the potential of the material, as well as highlighting the difficulties of funding movies that deal directly with race.

Now the first teaser trailer has arrived, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set against the antebellum South, THE BIRTH OF A NATION follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat’s preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities — against himself and his fellow slaves — Nat orchestrates an uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom.’

It’ll be in cinemas towards the end of the year, ready for a strong run at the Oscars. [Read more…]

Kevin Hart & Dwayne Johnson May Enter The Jumanji Remake

April 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

central-intelligence-slideFor a couple of years now Sony has been developing a reimagining of Jumanji, and there’s even been talk of trying to turn it into a giant interconnected franchise. Now it looks like they’re ready to move forward with the first part of their plan, as Variety reports that Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson are being sought by the studio for the lead roles.

It certainly doesn’t seem like it’s a done deal yet though, as both men are very busy and with Sony eyeing an autumn shoot, they will have to work out whether they can fit the movie in. There’s still not a huge amount of info on what direction this new Jumanji movie will take the movie, but with Johnson and Hart involved, it sounds like Jake Kasdan’s take will be a more broadly comic adventure. Presumably though it will still be based around the basic concept of a board game where what happens in the game also happens in real life, which causes havoc when the jungle starts to erupt into reality.

It also suggests that Sony must think Hart and Johnson make a great team, and that their work on this year’s Central Intelligence is good enough that it’s worth re-teaming them as soon as possible. However, they will have to work out the scheduling if it’s going to happen.
