There has been a lot of comment about how Michael Bay films the few female characters allowed into his movies in a way that makes even the least socially aware person suddenly realise what the term ‘objectification of women’ means.
What isn’t mentioned quite as often is that there’s also at least one moment in any Bay movies where gay people will start cringing due to a joke where ‘homos’ are the punchlines, and which like the way he treats women, reveals a very old-fashioned attitude to what it means to be a ‘man’ and what masculinity is. Yet there’s still a fascination with, probably due to the fact he loves bromances, even if Bay is now the king of ‘no homo’.
To show just how Bay’s attitude to gay people works (and with Transformers: Age Of Extinction opening), Gawker has come up with a rather fascinating supercut of gay jokes from a variety of the director’s movies, which shows just how cheap, casual and rather unpleasant his film’s attitude towards homosexuality is, whether it’s the world’s most stereotypically gay stylist in The Rock (which really does come across like a gay minstrel show), or Mark Wahlberg making sure there are ‘no homos’ amongst a group of kids in Pain & Gain.

A few day ago we posted a story about the fact the director of the upcoming Star trek 3, Roberto Orci, says he’s open to including a gay character in the film (even if it doesn’t seem particularly likely that’s it’s actually going to happen). The reason is was worth reporting is that despite Star Trek not being far from its 50th anniversary, it’s never had an openly gay character (on screen at least).
For some young people there’s never been a better time to grow up LGBT, with some rarely facing homophobia directed personally at them. However, with attitudes towards homosexuality often polarised (particularly in the US), for others the increased visibility of gay people and the vitriolic attitudes of some people mean there can be intense pressure of them, which can sometimes lead to tragedy.
Last September the news emerged that 
For many years there’s been talk of a Jimi Hendrix biopic but various issues have stood in the way of getting a major one made. However those have been cleared away for Jimi: All Is By My Side, which sees André Benjamin, aka André 3000 of Outkast as the legendary musician.
For several years a live action movie version of Mattel’s toy and TV show line Max Steel has been in the works. At one point it was planned as a big budget tentpole affair starring Taylor Lautner, but that didn’t work out and it’s ended up as something a bit smaller and interestingly the entire thing is being funded my Mattel themselves.
Last year two movies called Chef were in development. While Job Favreau’s one is now in cinemas, the other Chef, which is due to star Bradley Cooper, is still in the works, although it’s cast has now grown as Irish actor Sam Keeley has signed on to star.
A couple of days ago the first pic arrived on Henry Cavill on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set arrived, but that wasn’t from the studio, it was released in support Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.
After Horrible Bosses became a hit, it didn’t take long for a sequel to be put into the works. It’s taken a couple of year for it to come to fruition, but now it’s on its way and the trailer has arrived, which you can watch below.
