Smash may never have become a hit with viewers, but Megan Hilty nevertheless got a lot of fans as the bitchy, insecure, backstabbing, Ivy, who was determined to be a star and step out of her famous mother’s shadow. Sadly there’ll be no more Smash, but we will get to see more of Hilty, as EW reports that she hay joined the cast of Sean Hayes’ gay-themed sitcom, Sean Saves The World.
In the original pilot, Lindsay Sloane played the role of Hayes’ best friend, Liz, but she was let go in May and when the show airs on NBC in the autumn, Hilty will take over the role. Megan and Sean previously worked together when he guest starred on Smash.
The show features Hayes as a gay dad who’s recently been given full-time care of his daughter, Ellie, and must now raise her as child as a single father. Let’s hope it does better than last year’s gay-themed comedies, Partners and The New Normal, neither of which got past their first season.
