A Little Chaos Trailer – Kate Winslet returns to period drama in Alan Rickman’s movie

December 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A-Little-ChaosAlan Rickman is a great actor, but now he’s turning director (technically for the second time after 1997’s The Winter Guest) and going period drama with A Little Chaos.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A LITTLE CHAOS re-imagines the creation of the Rockwork Grove, one small element of the Sun King, Louis XIV’s building of the magnificent Palace of Versailles.

‘Madame Sabine De Barra (Kate Winslet) is an unlikely candidate for landscape architect of the still‐to-be-completed Palace of Versailles. She has little time for the classical, ordered designs of the man who hires her, the famous architect Le Nôtre (Matthias Schoenaerts). However, as she works on her creation, she finds herself drawn to the enigmatic Le Nôtre and forced to negotiate the perilous rivalries and intricate etiquette of the court of King Louis XIV (Alan Rickman). But Sabine is made of strong stuff; her honesty and compassion help her to overcome both the challenges of her newfound popularity, and an unspeakable tragedy from her past, to win the favour of the Sun King and the heart of Le Notre.’

A UK release is set for April 17th, 2015. [Read more…]

True Story Trailer – Jonah Hill and James Franco get dramatic

December 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

true-story-pic1James Franco’s plans have certainly changed in the past few days, as rather than running around promoting the release of The Interview, the cancellation of the film’s release means he’s lying relatively low instead. However just so we don’t forget about him, the trailer for True Story has arrived, a film that hopefully won’t have hackers threatening to commit terrorist atrocities.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When disgraced New York Times reporter Michael Finkel meets accused killer Christian Longo — who has taken on Finkel’s identity — his investigation morphs into an unforgettable game of cat and mouse. Based on actual events, Finkel’s relentless pursuit of Longo’s true story encompasses murder, love, deceit, and redemption.’

Franco plays Longo, with Jonah Hill as Finkel. Felicity Jones and Ethan Suplee also star. The film premieres at Sundance, with a US release set for April 10, 2015. No UK date is currently set. [Read more…]

Take A Look At Tom Hanks on the Set Of Spielberg’s Cold War Thriller

December 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Steven-Spielberg-tom-hanks-cold-warTom Hanks and Steven Spielberg have had fruitful collaboration over the years, and now they’re back together for a Cold War thriller, which may be going in front of the camera but currently has no title.

And to give us a sneak look, EW has released the first on-set image, which you can see below.

Tom Hanks is set to play American lawyer James Donovan, who is tasked by the US government to negotiate the release of American U-2 spy plane pilot Francis Gary Powers after his aircraft crashes in the Soviet Union.

Spielberg is directing from a script by Joel and Ethan Coen.

First Pic Of Jessica Chastain In Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak

December 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

crimson-peak-jessica-chastainGuillermo Del Toro is certainly taking his time with Crimson Peak. The movie shot early this year but won’t be in cinemas until October 2015. However we now get our first look at the movie courtesy of an image of Jessica Chastain that appears in the latest issue of EW.

Few story details have been released, beyond that young author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowksa) discovers that her charming new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be and has plenty of secrets. Chastain plays Sharpe’s sister, Lucille, while Charlie Hunnam is Dr. Alan McMichael.

As you can see from the pic, it’s a rather gothic affair and it appears it’ll be shot through with Del Toro’s unique style.

Chris Pratt Gets Photobombed By A Velociraptor In A New Jurassic World Pic

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chris Pratt & raptor in Jurassic WorldI still can’t get over how fricking hot Chris Pratt has become since he started working out (maybe there’s still hope for me), and that’s certainly true in this new pic, released by Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow on Twitter as a festive treat.

While we might all like to get photobombed by a raptor, Trevorrow says, ‘Happy Holidays from the editing room. Do not try this at home.’

It’s an apt pic as in interviews Trevorrow has confirmed that Pratt’s character has been studying the raptors and has developed a relationship with them – they’re not friends and can’t be trained to do tricks, but it appears things may have moved on from the super-smart agents of destruction they’ve been in earlier movies. That would certainly explain the shot in the trailer where Pratt is riding a motorbike in amongst a pack of the dinosaurs.

You can take a look at that trailer here.

JK Rowling Says Of Course Harry Potter Had Gay School Mates (And She Does It With Class)

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

JK-RowlingIt would have been a bit odd if the only gay person at Hogwarts was Dumbledore, but there’s been no confirmation before now that he wasn’t the sole anomaly in a sea of straightness surrounding Harry Potter.

Now someone on Twitter has prompted JK Rowling to address the issue, and while she declined to name names, she confirmed that ‘of course’ there were LGBT people at the school.

The user, @claraoswiin, asked, “Do you think there are a lot of LGBT students in modern age Hogwarts? It’s safe to assume that Hogwarts had a variety of people and I like to think it’s a safe place for LGBT students”.

Rowling, who’s long been a supporter of gay rights, responded with the perfect Tweet below.

The author also recently confirmed she’s completely the initial work on the screenplay for the Potter spin-off trilogy, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, with the first of those movies due in cinemas November 2016.

Jamie Dornan Went To A BDSM Dungeon To Get Into 50 Shades Character (While Showing Off His Guns)

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jamie-dornan-ELLEWhile Jamie Dornan didn’t have a huge amount of time to get ready to play Christian Grey in the upcoming movie version of 50 Shades Of Grey, it seems he still took his research seriously. Talking to Elle UK, he says he decided to head to a BDSM dungeon to have a look at what goes on.

Dornan comments, “I went there, they offered me a beer, and they did…whatever they were into. I saw a dominant with one of his two submissives. I was like: ‘Come on guys I know I’m not paying for this but I am expecting a show,’” he said. “It was an interesting evening. Then going back to my wife and newborn baby afterwards… I had a long shower before touching either of them.”

It’s a shame the encounter wasn’t videotaped so we could take a look ourselves on the eventual DVD extras.

Dornan also posed for the great pic above for Elle as part of his cover shoot, where we have to say he’s certainly looking good.

50 Shades hits cinemas on Valentine’s Day.

Apropos Of Nothing: The Warwick Rowers Go Full Frontal In A New Video (NSFW)

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

warwick-rowers-2015-slideHallelujah! For the last few years the Warwick Rowers have gained an international reputation for their very sexy naked calendars, as well as for being thoroughly nice guys who raise huge amounts of money for good cause, mostly for their own charity which sets out to combat homophobia in sports.

However while we’ve seen a lot of them, they are also masters of artfully covered genitalia – until today, that is.

In order to help promote the video that goes along with their 2015 calendar, they’ve released a six-minute video that gives you a bit more of an eyeful of what the rowers have to offer (and which incidentally also seems to be an advert for filming things using a drone camera, which does admittedly look cool).

While those who’ve bought previous videos have been able to see things uncut (literally and metaphorically), this is the first time the world at large has been able to take a look.

And of course, you can head here to buy the full length video – in Ultra HD no less, so you really can get a close-up look. [Read more…]

New Cinderella Trailer – Fresh look at Lily James & Richard Madden in a more magical fairy tale

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

CINDERELLA-character-poster1-slideA few weeks ago the main trailer for Disney’s live action Cinderella emerged, but there was a bit of problem – for a film based on a fairy tale, it didn’t look that magical. Indeed it looked like despite his success with Thor, director Kenneth Branagh may have returned to the somewhat journeyman role that’s hampered quite a few of his movies.

However now a new trailer has emerged via Disney New Zealand, which suggest there will indeed be a bit of enchantment in the film, even if most of comes from CGI.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella” brings to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually-dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation.

‘The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.’

The movie is due out on March 27th, 2015. Take a look at the trailer and poster below. [Read more…]

Viola Davis May Have Just Joined The Suicide Squad

December 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

viola-davisTwo Oscar nominations failed to properly get Hollywood to pay attention to Viola Davis, but it appears that her turning helping people get away with murder on TV has finally made them take notice. Latino Review reports that after being rumoured for a while she’s been offered the role of Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad.

After the announcement that the likes of Jared Leto, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy, and Cara Delevingne would be in the squad, having no one playing Waller was a bit of a hole, as she’s the character who runs the show.

Waller is a former congressional aide and government agent who become a prison warder and the person in charge of the Suicide Squad, a group of captured supervillains who’ve agreed to go on potentially suicidal mission in the hope of redemption.

There is a problem though, Davis is hard at work on How To Get Away With Murder, and Suicide Squad is due to start shooting before Season 1 wraps. But assuming they can work things out, she’ll be joining the movie.

Knight of Cups Trailer – First look at Christian Bale in Terrence Malick’s film

December 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

knight-of-cups-pic1While Terrence Malick likes to take his time with films, there’s a chance we’ll be getting two 2015, as he shot a couple of movies back-to-back, the first of which, Knight Of Cups, will premiere at the Berlin Film Festival. And now we have a trailer for the film.

As you’d expect from the director of The Tree Of Life and To The Wonder, it’s not a typical movie, as it was shot with no script, allowing the cast to improvise to Malick’s direction. However as the trailer shows, it does look like something a little different, with more energy, modernity and than we’re used to seeing from the helmer.

There’s no real synopsis, but the great cast includes Christian Bale alongside Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Jason Clarke, Joel Kinnaman, Joe Manganiello, Brian Dennehy, Antonio Banderas, Freida Pinto, Wes Bentley, Isabel Lucas, Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Armin Mueller-Stahl and the voice of Ben Kingsley.

The other Malick movie mentioned above doesn’t have a title yet, but it shares quite a few of the same actors and is set against the music scene. [Read more…]

Pacman, Donkey Kong & More Invade Earth In First Pixels Posters

December 16, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pixels-poster3Pixels has the potential to be one of the more interesting films of next summer, as anyone who’s seen the short it’s based on can attest. In that 8-bit video characters attack a city, turning it to pixels in the process. Many have wondered whether that same aesthetic will be brought into the film – and from the evident of these posters, it looks like it will.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Monaghan plays the team’s unique weapons specialist. The action-comedy is directed by Chris Columbus from a story by Tim Herlihy and a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling, based on the short film of the same name by Patrick Jean.’

The movie is due out July 24th, 2015, and hopefully we’ll get a trailer soon. [Read more…]
