Crush Of The Day: Robbie Amell For Bello Mag

August 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

robbie-amell-slide
This time last year it was all about Stephen Amell as The CW geared up to launch Arrow on the world. Now it’s the turn of his brother, Robbie, who’s taking a starring role in The Tomorrow People, a US TV version of a 1970s British television show about a group of teens who have special powers and can communicate telepathically. They work together to take on evil.

Ahead of the show’s debut in October, Robbie’s been chatting with Bello and also posing for some rather hot photographs, which we couldn’t help but admire.

Robbie’s previously appeared in the likes of 1600 Penn, Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous and played Fred in a couple of Scooby Doo TV movies. However recently he’s been rather outshone by older bro Stephen and his ridiculously toned bod.

Take a look at the great pics of Robbie below and then click here for some of Stephen and decide which brother is the hotter Amell. (The latest issue of Bello is available to read on the mag’s website for a limited time) [Read more…]

The Jungle Book (Blu-ray)

August 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: George Sanders, Phil Harris, Louis Prima, Sebastian Cabot, Bruce Reitherman
Director: Wolfgang Reitherman
Running Time: 75 mins
Certificate: U
Release Date: August 5th 2013

Since he was a baby, Mowgli has been raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. When the local animals hear that the fierce tiger, Shere Khan, is nearby, they decide Mowgli must be sent back to his own kind. However panther Bagheera has trouble getting him there, as Mowgli doesn’t want to go, which isn’t helped when he meets carefree bear, Baloo.

It wins nearly every poll of people’s favourite Disney film, so it’s a good job that for its first appearance on Blu-ray, the movie has been given a really great HD transfer, which is pin sharp and has virtually no noise. Indeed it’s impressive what can be done with these older animated movie, as while nearly every other film from before about 1980 has obvious signs of degradation, Disney has managed to ensure their films look as good as the day they were made. Philomena Trailer – Steve Coogan teams up with Judi Dench

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Judi Dench and Steve Coogan play unlikely friends in Philomena, the moving, funny and at times shocking true story of one woman’s search for a lost son. Now the first trailer for the movie has arrived, which you can watch here.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Falling pregnant as a teenager in Ireland in 1952, Philomena was sent to the convent of Roscrea to be looked after as a “fallen woman”. When her baby was only a toddler, he was taken away by the nuns for adoption in America. Philomena spent the next fifty years searching for him but with no success.

‘Then she met Martin Sixsmith, a world-weary political journalist who happened to be intrigued by her story. Together they set off to America on a journey that would not only reveal the extraordinary story of Philomena’s son, but also create an unexpectedly close bond between Philomena and Martin.

‘The film is a compelling narrative of human love and loss that ultimately celebrates life, showing that there is laughter even in the darkest places.’

Directed by BAFTA winner Stephen Frears (The Queen), Philomena will open in the UK and Ireland on 1st November 2013. [Read more…]

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire International Trailer – Katniss & Peeta head back to the arena

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The November release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is drawing closer, and now a new international trailer has been released, giving us plenty of new footage from the film. It certainly looks dramatic, with rebellion fermenting in the districts and the Capitol trying to quell that by putting former champions back in the arena – including Katniss and Peeta.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.’

The film’s due out November 22nd.

Tom Hiddleston Likes The Pirate Fairy In A New Disney Movie

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tom Hiddleston at The Avengers LA PremiereAmong all the news that Disney has been revealing at their D23 Expo comes the announcement of a new Peter Pan prequel that Disneytoon Studios is making, The Pirate Fairy. While Disneytoon is largely responsible for Disney’s straight-to-DVD offerings, they do sometimes go a little bigger and theatrical, such as with the Cars spin-off Planes, which hit US theatres this weekend.

It seems they’ll be doing the same with The Pirate Fairy, and they’ve already signed Tom Hiddleston to help them. He’ll be playing a young Captain Hook in the movie. The film is a spin-off from Disney’s increasingly popular Tinker Bell series (which gave birth to the Disney Fairies brand).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a misunderstood dust-keeper fairy named Zarina steals Pixie Hollow’s all-important Blue Pixie Dust, and flies away to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock, Tinker Bell and her fairy friends must embark on the adventure of a lifetime to return it to its rightful place. However, in the midst of their pursuit of Zarina, Tink’s world is turned upside down. She and her friends find that their respective talents have been switched and they have to race against time to retrieve the Blue Pixie Dust and return home to save Pixie Hollow.’

Hiddleston will be James,  a cabin boy who ends up becoming Captain Hook and who Zarina falls for. It should be out Spring 2014.

Lucas Neff & Neil Patrick Harris Up For Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, With Amy Poehler Going Inside Out

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

good-dinosaur-concept-art1
Pixar has been revealing info about some of their upcoming movies. While we knew they had films in the works about dinosaurs and a film set inside the human brain, we now know they’re called The Good Dinosaur and Inside Out. We’ve also got new concept art pics from the films and info about the voice casts.

Raising Hope’s Lucas Neff leads The Good Dinosaur cast, playing Apatosaurus Arlo. The film is set in a world when an asteroid never made the dinosaurs extinct, so they now live alongside humans. After a traumatic event rattles the enormous Arlo’s (Lucas Neff) tranquil community, he sets out on a quest to restore peace, gaining an unlikely companion along the way in the form of a young human boy named Spot.

Disney have revealed that Arlo’s Poppa will be played by John Leguizamo, Momma will be Frances McDormand and Sister Ivy is Judy Greer. Bill Hader and Neil Patrick Harris will be Arlo’s two older brothers. The film’s due out May 30th, 2014.

inside-out-concept-art1Inside Out takes you to a place that everyone knows, but no one has ever seen: the world inside the human mind. Riley, an 11-year-old girl who recently moved with her family to San Francisco, is not the main character but the setting for the film. Moviegoers will go inside her mind to explore how memories are formed and how a mixture of five emotions- Joy, Disgust, Anger, Fear and Sadness – define life experiences.

Amy Poehler is Joy, Lewis Black is Anger, Mindy Kaling will be Disgust, Phyllis Smith takes on Sadness, while Bill Hader is Fear. You can see the Five Emotions in the photo above. Inside Out should be in cinemas June 19th, 2015.

Ty Burrell & Diane Keaton Join Ellen Degeneres In Finding Dory

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

finding-dory-concept-art1We already knew that Ellen DeGeneres was coming back for the Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory, but now she’s got some company, as at D23, Disney has revealed that Albert Brooks will also be back as the voice of Marlin.

Diane Keaton is also onboard as the voice of Dory’s mom Jenny, Eugene Levy is Dory’s dad Charlie, and Modern Family star Ty Burrell will be Bailey. It certainly seems it’ll be a bit of a family affair for Dory.

Not much has been released about the actual plot, although it has been revealed that they’re currently altering the ending in the wake of controversy over the treatment of killer whales at aquatic parks the has erupted sinxe the release of the documentary Blackfish. The ending will still apparently take place at a park, but it’ll be a place where the creatures have the choice to leave.

The film is currently due out November 25th, 2015. Take a look at a new concept art pic above.

Disney Announces Zootopia Animated Movie From The Director Of Tangled

August 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zootopia-concept-art1
Disney has kicked off its D23 Expo, which is kind of like Comic-Con but just for Disney projects. They’ve started out with their animated offerings, including the announcement of a new Walt Disney Animation movie, which is going by the working title, Zootopia.

Director Byron Howard (Tangled) and writer Jared Bush were on hand to talk about the movie, which will be set in the animal city of Zootopia. It follows a fast-talking fox who’s trying to make it big, but has to go on the run when he’s framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Zootopia’s top cop, a self-righteous rabbit, is hot on his tail, but when both become targets of a conspiracy, they’re forced to team up and discover even natural enemies can become best friends.

They also shared a piece of concept art for the movie, which you can see above. The current plan is to have the film in cinemas in 2016.

First Look At Kate Winslet & Josh Brolin In Jason Reitman’s Labor Day Released

August 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Labor-Day-pic1It looks like Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman might be getting serious with Labor Day, as the first image, which arrives via EW, show us Kate Winslet looking rather stressed and upset, while Josh Brolin gazes off into the distance (or at least into the wall).

Reitman says it’s a more straightforward work than his previous movie. ”There’s no cynicism in this movie. There’s no irony in this movie,” he says. “This one is dramatic, romantic, and has moments of being a thriller — all new things for me. It felt like making my first movie again.”

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Labor Day centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.’

A Christmas Day US release is set, with the film coming to the UK in early 2014.

August 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kick-ass-2-character-pic1 Kick-Ass 2 hits UK cinemas on August 14th (and the 16th in the US), and so ahead of that Universal has revealed a septet of character images, giving us an up-close look at Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Night Bitch, as well as villains The Motherf*ucker, Black Death, Genghis Carnage and Mother Russia.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave.  With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.  Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own.  With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

‘Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets,  the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad.  But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.’
