
Normally a British film needs to find success in the US to get a sequel, but with The Inbetweeners Movie taking more than £40 million in the UK alone – and costing about a tenth of that to make – the only thing stopping us having a follow-up before now has been getting the guys back together.
Now THR reports that creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley have confirmed that a second film is on the way with plans to shoot this autumn. Jay (James Buckley), Neil (Blake Harrison), Simon (Joe Thomas) and Will (Simon Bird) will all be back, although there’s no news on what the plot of this one will be.
Following up the popular Channel 4 TV series, the first film saw them head off on holiday, which inevitably resulted in all manner of hijinks. It’s safe to say there’ll be plenty more sexual japery and embarrassment in the follow-up.
Expect it in cinemas next year.
