New Logan Lucky Trailer – Channing Tatum & Adam Driver star in Steven Soderbergh’s heist flick

June 29, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few years ago, director Magic Mike and Ocean’s 11 helmer Steven Soderbergh announced that he wasn’t going to direct any more feature films. However, as with his many earlier threats to retire, it’s turned out to be premature, as he’s now returning with Logan Lucky, his first film since 2013. The new movie has been described as being a bit of an anti-Ocean’s 11, with people going on a heist but stripping out the glamour.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jimmy Logan (Channing Tatum) is from a blue-collar family from the hills of West Virginia, whose clan has been famous for its bad luck for nearly 90 years. After being fired from his job, and with his ex-wife (Katie Holmes) threatening to move out of State taking their daughter with her, Jimmy decides he has to do something to get his family’s life back on track. With a little help from his brother Clyde Logan (Adam Driver), his sister Mellie (Riley Keough) and an incarcerated explosive expert, the aptly named Joe Bang (Daniel Craig), he plans to steal $14 million from the Charlotte Motor Speedway on the busiest race day of the year.

irected by Academy Award-winner Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven, Magic Mike, Traffic), Logan Lucky also stars Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, Katherine Waterston, Sebastian Stan, and Brian Gleeson.’

Logan Lucky is out in the UK on August 25th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

A Bad Moms Christmas Trailer – Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn & Kristen Bell are back & as bad as ever

June 28, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I have to say, ‘A Bad Moms Christmas’ is an impressively rubbish title, but many will be hoping the follow-up to the 2016 comedy flick, Bad Moms, isn’t as bad as its name. The first trailer has now been released for the movie, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A Bad Moms Christmas follows our three under-appreciated and over-burdened moms (Amy, Kiki, and Carla) as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of Christmas in hopes of creating a more perfect holiday for their families. And if that wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their ultimate holiday foes: their own mothers. By the end of the journey, our moms have redefined how to make the holidays special for their families and it ends up bringing them closer to their own moms.

‘Starring Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski, Cheryl Ruth Hines, Peter Gallagher, Jay Hernandez and Wanda Sykes. A Bad Moms Christmas is written and directed by Jon Lucas & Scott Moore. A Bad Moms Christmas will be released across UK and Ireland by Entertainment Film Distributors on 3rd November’. [Read more…]

The Greatest Showman Trailer – Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams & Zac Efron enter a musical big top

June 28, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Despite the success of La La Land, big, Hollywood original musicals are still a rare thing. However, Hugh Jackman has one up his sleeve with The Greatest Showman, which even has songs from the team that created the tunes on La La Land. The first trailer suggest that while it may not exactly be historically accurate, it could be a lot of fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“The Greatest Showman” is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and the sense of wonder we feel when dreams come to life. Inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, “The Greatest Showman” tells the story of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a mesmerizing spectacle that became a worldwide sensation. “The Greatest Showman” is directed by exciting new filmmaker, Michael Gracey, with songs by Academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land”) and starring Academy Award nominee Hugh Jackman. Fifty Shades Darker – Unmasked Edition (Blu-ray Review) – Just how boring is it possible for kinky sex to be?

June 25, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Eric Johnson, Kim Basinger, Bella Heathcote
Director: James Foley
Running Time: 131 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: June 26th 2017 (UK)

Oh, dear God. How do you manage to make a film that’s supposedly about kinky sex be this boring?

At the end of Fifty Shades Of Grey, the timid Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and her S&M-obsessed billionaire paramour, Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), had parted company. However, it doesn’t take long until they’re back together, with Christian promising he loves Ana enough that he wants to be her partner rather than her master. She isn’t sure, but they start dating again, and are soon negotiating a different kind of contract than the last movie. It’s a more unspoken one where they attempt to create a more equal relationship, despite Christian’s issues and ‘boundaries’ (which handily you can literally paint on him in lipstick).

It’s not going to be all smooth sailing though, as there are various figures out to cause them trouble, including the previously unseen ‘Mrs. Robinson’ character, Elena (Kim Basinger), who inducted Christian into kinkiness and isn’t quite ready to let him go. There’s also Leila (Bella Heathcote), one of Christian’s earlier submissives, and Anastasia’s boss, Jack Hyde, who may be looking to make a different sort of sexual powerplay. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Drake Bell Shows Off His Treasure Trail For Flaunt

June 24, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There were a few eyebrows raised earlier this week when it was revealed that Josh Peck had gotten married, but that his former Drake & Josh co-star, Drake Bell, wasn’t at the ceremony. However, he’s obviously not letting it get him down, as a series of smoldering shots on him have popped up on Instagram, where he’s looking ripped and giving the world a little hint towards where his treasure trailer goes.

The images are from a Flaunt magazine shoot. The pics also come with the wonderfully overblown quote about his music and fashion. “Music is my journal,” he says. “It’s a way to express myself and convey my emotions and thoughts to the world through melody and song. Fashion is an extension of the music. Artists from every generation wear clothing that resonate with and inspire the art they create. Just like music, fashion sets the tone for how I choose to be in the moment and portray myself to the world.”

But back to the wedding. He obviously wasn’t pleases, as E! says Bell tweeted and then deleted, “When you’re not invited to the wedding the message is clear… Loyalty is key. ALWAYS remember where you came from.”

Take a look at some of the pics below. [Read more…]

Ian McKellen Is Planning A Series Of LGBT Heroes Short Films & He’s Looking For Help

June 24, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ian McKellen has got a new project. Alongside with Vicious producer Gary Reich and The Brooklyn Brothers agency founder Jackie Stevenson, he is planning a series of four short films – under the banner LGBT Heroes – made by and about the LGBT community. THR reports that they’re hoping to get top notch filmmakers and actors involved in the initiative.

While Facebook has already stepped forward to partner with the film series and stream the first movie, McKellen is looking for other brands and broadcasters to help with some of the other films. The actor has previously resisted working with brands in his career, saying of Coca-Cola’s Dasani water’s attempt to recruit him for its British launch, he says, “I thought, ‘I can’t. I feel I’m selling my soul, and my soul is worth more than this.'”

However, he thinks it makes sense for this project, partly because of how brands have been supporting the LGBT community. “I’ve been impressed with gay rights all over the world, how much commerce wants to be involved,” McKellen says, “Hollywood, to crudely sum it up, has tended to deal with fantasy, tended to deal with escape. Branding has to be up to date otherwise. [Brands] come up with a response to the world as it really is. It’s a much different approach to anything that Hollywood would do.”

They are hoping to get directors Wachowskis and Tom Ford to direct two of the four films, while McKellen will appear on at least one of them, with other currently unknown actors also attached.

Those behind the project want those interested in getting involved – including brands, actors, broadcasters and anyone else with ideas – to contact them via LGBTheroes.info.

New Battle Of The Sexes Trailer – Emma Stone’s Billie Jean King struggles with her sexuality as she takes on Steve Carell

June 24, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The 2013 documentary The Battle Of The Sexes reignited interested in a moment in tennis history that electrified the US back in 1973. Indeed, the doc sparked rival movies to go into development, with Fox Searchlight backing one starring Emma Stone and Steve Carell, while HBO was planning their own movie about the event. While the latter doesn’t look like it’s happening anymore, the trailer for the former has now arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the wake of the sexual revolution and the rise of the women’s movement, the 1973 tennis match between women’s World #1 Billie Jean King (Emma Stone) and ex-men’s-champ and serial hustler Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) was billed as the BATTLE OF THE SEXES and became one of the most watched televised sports events of all time, reaching 90 million viewers around the world. As the rivalry between King and Riggs kicked into high gear, off-court each was fighting more personal and complex battles. The fiercely private King was not only championing for equality, but also struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, as her friendship with Marilyn Barnett (Andrea Riseborough) developed. And Riggs, one of the first self-made media-age celebrities, wrestled with his gambling demons, at the expense of his family and wife Priscilla (Elisabeth Shue). Together, Billie and Bobby served up a cultural spectacle that resonated far beyond the tennis court, sparking discussions in bedrooms and boardrooms that continue to reverberate today.

BATTLE OF THE SEXES also stars Sarah Silverman (‘Masters of Sex’), Bill Pullman(The Equalizer) and Golden Globe® nominee Alan Cumming (‘The Good Wife’).’

The film is due out in the UK on October 20th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Shonda Rhimes & Wonder Woman Writer Planning US Version Of British Gay Series Banana & Cucumber

June 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Still from Cucumber

A couple of years ago there was plenty of excitement about the return to gay Manchester for writer Russell T Davies more than 15 years after Queer As Folk with the interlinked series Cucumber, Banana and Tofu. While the show itself got a fairly muted critical response, that hasn’t stopped people planning a US version.

Allan Heinberg – who’s currently riding high after writing Wonder Woman – has set up Adult Behaviour at Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal producer Shondaland. Deadline describes the show as ‘a sexy, multi-generational, comedic drama inspired by Queer As Folk creator and Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies’ 2015 British TV series Cucumber and Banana.’

That suggests there may be a few changes from the British version, which focused on a middle-aged gay man, going through a series of crises following the breakdown of his relationship, when one of them wants to get married and the other doesn’t. In the US, Banana and Cucumber aired on Logo. Adult Behaviour meanwhile is being developed with the hope it will land on the major network, ABC.

Heinberg as worked with mega-producer Shonda Rhimes and her Shondaland Production Company for over a decade, on shows including Grey’s, Scandal and The Catch. He also wrote an episode of HBO’s gay-themed show, Looking.
