James Franco, Glenn Close & Brit Marling Take The Grace That Keeps This World

October 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Grace That Keeps This World has lined itself up a good cast, as Deadline reports that Glenn Close, James Franco, and Brit Marling have signed on to star in director Azazel Jacobs’ (Terri) movie.

The film is about a father and his sons who are preparing for a hunting trip. However, their lives are upended when a young environmentalist cop begins investigating hunting violations, which results in secrets being revealed that may tear this family apart. At the moment no details are known for any of the actors’ characters (although who wants to bet Franco will be the environmentalist cop?).

Matthew Aldrich wrote the screenplay, adapted from the novel written by Tom Bailey. Aldrich first found success last year when a bidding war erupted for his screenplay Father Daughter Time: A Tale of Armed Robbery and Eskimo Kisses, which currently has Matt Damon and John Krasinski attached to star. At the moment it isn’t clear when The Grace That Keeps This World might shoot.

September 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago it was revealed Terrence Malick is set to produce the directorial debut of AJ Edwards, who worked with Malick on The New World, The Tree Of Life and To The Wonder. The film is all about Abraham Lincoln’s youth and already has Diane Kruger and Jason Clarke attached to play Lincoln’s step-mother and father.

Now it’s been revealed that Wes Bentley and Brit Marling will also star, with Bentley playing the future President’s first teacher and Marling as Nancy, his biological mother who withstood the challenges of pioneer life.

The Green Blade Rises tells the untold story of the youth of America’s greatest hero. It chronicles the hardships that shaped him, including abandonment by his father in the harsh winter wilderness, the tragedy that marked him forever and the two women who guided him to immortality, putting him on the path to becoming one of the most influential Presidents in United States history.

Anna Kendrick Finds The Company You Keep

October 22, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Director Robert Redford is certainly filling out the cast for his upcoming political thriller The Company You Keep, with Variety reporting that the increasingly impressive ensemble now includes Anna Kendrick, Terrence Howard, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Elliott, and newcomer Jackie Evancho, an 11-year-old finalist on America’s Got Talent. They join Robert Redford, Shia LaBeouf, Brit Marling, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon, Richard Jenkins, Julie Christie, Stephen Root, Stanley Tucci and Chris Cooper in the Lem Dobbs-scripted pic, based on the novel by Neil Gordon.

Robert Redford stars as Jim Grant, a former Weather Underground militant wanted by the FBI for 30 years, who must go on the run when a young, ambitious reporter (Shia LaBeouf) exposes his true identity. Anna Kendrick will play Diana, a young FBI agent and Shia LaBeouf’s former flame, who provides him with that information he needs to uncover the truth about Grant and a Bank of Michigan robbery.

Terrence Howard will play Cornelius, the senior FBI agent on the case who has relentlessly pursued Grant across the nation and now leads the task force assigned to take down the Weather Underground fugitives who have been on the run for three decades. Brendan Gleeson will play Henry Osborne, the retired Michigan Chief of Police who investigated the bank robbery in the 1960s, while Sam Elliott will be Mac, Julie Christie’s employer in the marijuana trade who used to be romantically involved with her. Jackie Evancho will play Robert Redford’s daughter, who recently lost her mother and is unaware of her father’s militant past.

It’s an incredible cast for what should be a very intriguing movie. The political action thriller is currently filming in Vancouver.
