Jake Kasdan Back For Bad Teacher 2, With Cameron Diaz Also Likely To Return

June 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cameron-diazEver since Bad Teacher was released there’s been talk of a sequel. Now Columbia Pictures is moving forward with the film and has revealed that Jake Kasdan will return to direct, from a script by Justin Malen.

The project is being developed for Cameron Diaz to star in, although as yet no deal is set with the actress (and probably won’t be until the script is ready.

2011’s Bad Teacher took $216 million at cinemas, which certainly ensured Sony wanted some more. Indeed, they’re already turning it into a TV series, which with air on next season and will star Ari Graynor.

Jake Kasdan is also in pre-production on Sony Pictures’ Sex Tape, which has Diaz set to star alongside Bad teacher co-star Jason Segel.

Don Johnson Joins The Other Woman Opposite Cameron Diaz

June 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

don-johnsonDirector Nick Cassavetes has certainly built an interesting cast for The Other Woman, with Cameron Diaz set for the lead, and the likes of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Leslie Mann, Nicki Minaj and Kate Upton also set to star. Now one more interesting name has been added, as Don Johnson has signed up.

Melissa Stack’s script follows Diaz as a woman who finds out that her boyfriend (Coster-Waldau) is actually married, and that she is the “other woman” in the relationship. She teams up with his vengeful wife (Mann) in a plot to turn the tables on him.

Johnson will play Diaz’a father, a ladies’ man who frequently dates women half his age. Presumably he’ll have a few good tips on how to get back at a cheater.

The film has already started shooting and should be released next spring.

Cameron Diaz & Jason Segel May Make A Sex Tape

April 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cameron-diazJason Segel has long wanted to make a Sex Tape, and for a while it looked like he’d be doing in with Reese Witherspoon, but she’s since dropped out, so now he’s trying to recruit Bad Teacher co-star Cameron Diaz to do it with him. Of course we’re not talking about a real sex tape, as it’s actually a new raunchy comedy.

The movie centres on a married couple who decide to spice things up in the bedroom by making a sex tape. However, when they wake up the next morning, the tape is gone, and the couple launches a desperate search to find it.

TheWrap has the news on Cameron Diaz’s involvement. Jake Kasdan is set to direct, but there’s no news on when it might shoot. It won’t be for a while yet though, as Diaz is due to film The Other Woman first.

Cameron Diaz Will Be The Other Woman, With Kristen Wiig Circling

November 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Wiig and Cameron Diaz sounds like a good combination of funny ladies and it looks like it may well happen, as The Wrap reports that Diaz has signed up for The Other Woman, with Wiig also circling the project.

The movie is about a woman who learns that the man she’s been seeing is actually married. Filled with rage, she decides to tell the man’s wife and the two of them team up for payback. The project is described as being similar to The First Wives Club, but targeting a younger audience.

The script was written by Melissa Stack, who doesn’t have any feature credits but had her first screenplay, I Want To F**k Your Sister, land on the Black List (the annual list of the best unproduced screenplays). That script is currently in development at MTV Films.

It isn’t known how close Wiig is to signing up, but she could certainly be a good sparring partner for Diaz.

Gambit Trailer – Firth, Diaz & Rickman star in the Coen Brothers scripted film

September 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Gambit has been in the works for a long time, with the Coen Brothers intially thinking of directing this remake of a 1960s Shirley Maclaine and Micheal Caine movie. However after delays due to financing, they handed the directing reigns to Michael Hoffman, although Joel and Ethan did provide the script. Now we have the trailer, which gives us out first taste of the movie.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘Private art curator Harry Deane (Colin Firth) devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England’s richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Alan Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Cameron Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.

‘BAFTA award winner Sir Tom Courtenay, Golden Globe winner Stanley Tucci and Academy Award© winner and veteran comedienne Cloris Leachman round out the cast.’ The movie hits UK cinemas on November 21st.

Cameron Diaz and Benicio Del Toro Join Agent: Century 21

May 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Benicio Del Toro may not be the first name that comes to mind when it comes to action comedies, but he’s going for one and he and Cameron Diaz are both attached to star in Agent: Century 21. The film is written by Greg Brooker (Stuart Little) and will be directed by Adam Hashemi, who will make his feature film debut.

Crushed by her recent divorce, Mary Kay Curly (Diaz) cannot catch a break. Desperate to protect the two most important things in her life, her kids and her real estate agent job, Mary Kay agrees to take on an unpleasant task for her boss that accidentally gets her kidnapped and tossed into the centre of a Mexican drug war. Armed with little more than her maternal instincts and a streak of pure dumb luck, Mary Kay must overcome incredible odds and outsmart the FBI, various underground crime lords and an international terrorist organization- in time to make it home for dinner.

No prizes for guessing Del Toro will be involved in the Mexican drug war side of things. The movie is set to start shooting in September 2012. (Source: Variety)
