Posters Arrive For Roland Emmerich’s White House Down

March 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

White-House-Down-Teaser-Poster
With Olympus Has Fallen doing well at US cinemas, the makers of rival terrorists-taking-over-the-White-House movie, White House Down, want to make sure people know about their movie too. Two posters for the film have been released, with the promise a trailer is imminent.

Both posters show Washington before the chaos descends, with Channing Tatum as a secret service agent who’s in the White House when a group of terrorists take over. He’s then tasked with guiding the President (Jamie Foxx) to safety. Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, Lance Reddick and Joey King also star.

The Roland Emmerich directed film hits cinemas this June.

Douglas Booth Heads For The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending

February 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Douglas Booth

Douglas Booth

Douglas Booth may look more like a fashion designer has carved him for the catwalk than a real person, but he’s certainly handsome and is building a respectable acting careers that’s seen him appear in Christopher And His Kind, LOL and as Pip in the BBC’s Great Expectations.

He’s got even bigger projects coming up with Romeo & Juliet, Noah and now Variety reports that he’s joined the cast of the Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending.

The likes of Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne, and Sean Bean are already onboard the sci-fi flick, which is set in a future where one supreme leader rules the universe and humans are considered the lowest form of life. Tatum will play a bounty hunter who is ordered to kill an Earth woman (Mila Kunis) who is the spitting image of the Queen of the Universe. However rather than completing his task, he starts to fall for her.

There’s no news on exactly who Booth will play, although I’d be willing to bet he’s on the side of the rulers rather than the subjugated humans.

It’s believed Andy and Lana Wachowski hope to shoot the movie in the next few months.

Sean Bean Heads For The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending

February 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sean-beanAlthough Cloud Atlas didn’t do as well as Lana and Andy Wachowski probably hoped, they’re planning a slightly more mainstream sci-fi adventure for their next outing – Jupiter Ascending. Now a new cast member has signed up, with Deadline reporting that Sean Bean has joined the already cast Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, and Eddie Redmayne.

The story is set in a universe where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary food chain, and one supreme leader rules all. The plot follows a young Earth woman (Mila Kunis) who is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe, because she bears a striking similarity to the ruler. Channing Tatum plays the bounty hunter who is sent to kill the woman, but ends up falling for her in the process (so it’s all a bit Snow White). Sean Bean is portraying Stringer, who’s described as a ‘Han Solo-type character’.

Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski are directing from their own original screenplay. The last we heard an early 2013 production start was being eyed, although an exact start date isn’t known.

New Side Effects Trailer – Channing Tatum & Jude Law get paranoid about prescription medication

January 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Everyone’s getting pretty paranoid in the new trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects, which makes you wonder whether any viewers of the movie are going to look twice at what prescription medication they are taking.

The film stars Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and is about a woman (Mara) who turns to prescription medication to deal with her anxiety over her husband’s (Tatum) release from prison. She begins to take a new brand of anti-depressant, prescribed by a doctor (Jude Law), who seems to have more than a professional interest in her. Before long, everything spirals badly out of control, when it appears a murder has been committed.

The film is set for release in the UK on March 15th, 2013. It certainly looks like it’ll be a dramatic one.

Fresh Posters For Dark Skies, Warm Bodies, GI Joe: Retaliation and Side Effects

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Today seems to be poster day, so rather than doing a post for every single one of them, I’m gathering a few of them together for you to take a look at. So scroll down for pics from Dark Skies, GI Joe: Retaliation, Warm Bodies and Side Effects.

dark-skies-poster1From the producers of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and Sinister comes Dark Skies: a supernatural thriller that follows a young family living in the suburbs. As husband and wife Daniel and Lacey Barret (Keri Russell and Josh Hamilton) witness an escalating series of disturbing events involving their family, their safe and peaceful home quickly unravels. When it becomes clear that the Barret family is being targeted by an unimaginably terrifying and deadly force, Daniel and Lacey take matters in their own hands to solve the mystery of what is after their family.’

gi-joe-retaliation-poster1It’s heroes vs. villains in this new GI Joe: Retaliation poster. Channing Tatum (Duke) Bruce Willis (Joe Colton), Dwayne Johnson (Roadblock), Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye), and Ray Park (Snake Eyes) represent the good guys, with Ray Stevenson (Firefly), Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow), and Elodie Yung (Jinx) on the baddies side. The 3D movie hits cinemas in March.

warm-bodies-poster2R (Nicholas Hoult) is a zombie. After a zombie apocalypse, he shambles across an America filled with collapsed buildings, rusted cars, shattered windows, and abandoned high-rises. He can only grunt or moan and craves human brains to get high on their memories. After eating the brains of a suicidal teen, R is overcome with love for the teen’s companion, Julie Grigio (Palmer). R rescues Julie from his zombie pack and takes her back to his lair. She eventually leaves, and R follows her back to Citi Stadium, the largest remaining human refuge. It hits cinemas February 8th.

side-effects-poster1Steven Sobderbergh lines another star-filled thriller, this one with Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Side Effects is about a woman (Mara) who turns to prescription medication to deal with her anxiety over her husband’s (Tatum) release from prison. She begins to take a new brand of anti-depressant, prescribed by a doctor (Jude Law), who seems to have more than a professional interest in her. Before long, everything spirals badly out of control, when it appears a murder has been committed. The film is set for release in the UK on March 15th, 2013

Eddie Redmayne Joins Channing Tatum In The Wachowskis’ Jupiter Ascending

December 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

eddie-redmayneCloud Atlas may not have been the critical and commercial success the Wachowskis (and co-director Tom Twyker) had hoped, but they’re now planning a return to the sci-fi arena with Jupiter Ascending. They’ve already got Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis attached to star, and now Variety reports that Les Miserables star Eddie Redmayne is in talks to join him.

The movie is set in a future where humans are considered the lowest form of life in the galaxy. Tatum is set to star as an intergalactic bounty hunter who is sent by the Queen of the Universe to kill an human woman (Kunis) whose genetic detailss are identical to the Queen’s. And as this is the movies, the would-be assassin begins to fall in love with the person he’s supposed to kill.

It’s not been revealed how Eddie Redmayne fits into all this. Andy and Lana Wachowski will direct from their own screenplay, with production scheduled to begin early next year.

Fresh G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer – Channing Tatum is back in action

December 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When GI Joe: Retaliation’s release was delayed from last August to next March, the official reason was so that they could convert it to 3D. However many wondered if there were major problems with the movie, which seemed to be confirmed when reshoots were ordered. However it now seems that the main issue was that Paramount made a major miscalculation about Channing Tatum.

He was the main star of the first GI Joe film, but then they decided that while he’d be in the follow-up (his contract meant he had little choice in the matter), he’d be majorly sidelined. Then he became one of the biggest stars around thanks to the likes of Magic Mike and 21 Jump Street, and so the reshoots were apparently mainly about reinserting him as a main character. That’s noticeable is this new trailer, as in earlier marketing Tatum was pretty much invisible – he didn’t even make it into many of the posters or trailers at all. Now he’s very visible at the beginning and end of this new trailer, alongside newbies Bruce Willis and The Rock. The film hits UK cinemas March 27th, 2013.

You’ll also notice that London isn’t going to come out of GI Joe: Retaliation very well.

Magic Mike (DVD)

November 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer, Cody Horn, Channing Tatum
Director: Steven Soderbergh
Running Time: 105 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: November 26th 2012

While there was a lot of interest in Magic Mike before it was released in cinemas, I don’t think many people suspected that this $7 million budgeted movie would pull in over $100 million at the US box office, or get quite so many people so excited. There’s little doubt much of the interest in the film is that while women are routinely sexualised in cinemas, its rarer for a film to come along that offers the girls and gay guys something to get hot under the collar about, with male characters unabashedly served up for their sexual delectation. Channing Tatum Is People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2012

November 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Channing Tatum

In what is perhaps the least surprising news this week, the hotly tipped Channing Tatum has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive, taking over from last year’s winner ,Bradley Cooper (who was a more controversial pick, as many thought it ought to have gone to Ryan Gosling).

With Tatum having made us laugh in 21 Jump Street, gotten all romantic in The Vow and then made everybody very hot and bothered by bumping and grinding in his underwear in Magic Mike, it’s little surprise he topped the list. In fact, just Magic Mike would have been enough, but he really has had an exceptional year, scoring three hit movies, loads of fans and showing us more of his body than most actors would dare.

Channing commented, “My first thought was, ‘Y’all are messing with me.’ I told Jenna [his wife] after we’d been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they’d gotten skunked.

“She was like, ‘What?’

“Yeah, she calls me [the Sexiest Man Alive] now.”

He also reveals that he’s now thinking about starting a family, who’ll certainly get some good genes.

And to see more of Channing, check out our gallery of the guys from Magic Mike and of Tatum himself.

Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson & Alison Brie Join LEGO movie

November 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The planned CGI LEGO movie is certainly pulling a great cast together, with the news that Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, and Nick Offerman have all signed up to voice roles in the film, according to Variety.

Will Arnett, Channing Tatum, Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, and Elizabeth Banks also star, with Arnett and Tatum particularly interesting, as they’ll be Superman and Batman, marking the first time the characters have appeared on screen together. The story is about Emmett (Pratt), a seemingly average Lego figure who is mistaken for a powerful man who can help save the universe. He joins a group determined to stop the evil President Business (Ferrell). Liam Neeson will play the villain’s right hand man, Bad Cop, with Alison Brie portraying a member of Emmett’s group. Nick Offerman will play a surly pirate, hell-bent on getting revenge on President Business.

And with a villain called President Business, we can already sense right wing nutjobs preparing to froth at the mouth about how this is trying to indoctrinate kids into hating capitalism.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street) are directing from a screenplay they co-wrote, based on an original story by Dan Hagerman and Kevin Hagerman. A release date of February 28th, 2014 is already set.
