Elizabeth Banks Will Take A Walk Of Shame In A New Comedy

October 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After her sojourn into Panem for The Hunger Games, it seems Elizabeth Banks is heading back to comedy as Variety reports she’s signed up to star in Walk Of Shame, which Steve Brill is set to write and direct.

Banks is set to play a woman whose dream job is being a news anchor. She thinks she’s got her big break when she scores an audition at an LA station. However it doesn’t go well and so she decides to throw caution to the wind and have a wild night of partying.

She wakes the next morning to discover that despite her pessimism, she got the job. However in her hungover state she can’t remember what she did with her car, her money or what happened the night before. As a result she must head through unfamiliar neighbourhoods so she can get to her new job and make it on air at 5pm.

It’s not clear when it might shoot, although presumably Banks will slot it in between instalments of The Hunger Games movies.

The Details Trailer – Tobey Maguire explores infidelity after a raccoon infestation

September 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Details certainly has a good cast, with Tobey Maguire in the lead (who replaced the originally cast James McAvoy), joined by Ray Liotta, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Line, Kerry Washington, Sam Trammell and Dennis Haysbert. Maguire and Banks play a couple whose marriage starts disintegrating when raccoons start burrowing in their garden. Yes, that’s right, this is a movie about the trauma of raccoons. Apparently the animal pests set off a chain of events that ends up with infidelity and murder! The film arrives in the US on November 2nd, but no UK release is set yet.

The Hunger Games – The Unseen Version (Blu-ray)

August 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci
Director: Gary Ross
Running Time: 142 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: September 3rd 2012

In the early days of DVD, studios went to great trouble putting together really good packages, with feature-length documentaries, plenty of featurettes and various other bits and pieces to please film fans. These releases are becoming increasingly rare, with even major mega-budget blockbusters often getting paltry extras that are only there because they’re expected and give the marketers something to write on the back of the box. It’s nice then that The Hunger Games gets a two-disc Blu-ray release with around three hours of features, including an extremely good 122 minute ‘making of’ documentary. [Read more…]

As many know by now, Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games is a young adult bestseller that’s become a phenomenon around the world. It’s now been transferred to the screen and is one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year. So far the novel trilogy has amassed over 26 million in book sales (mostly due to popular word of mouth) and this will no doubt grow after the pretty much inevitable success of the movie.

Elizabeth Banks & Paul Reubens Up For Frank Or Francis

January 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

At the end of last week it was revealed that Charlie Kaufman’s second directorial outing, Frank Or Francis, had added Kate Winslet and Catherine Keener to its ranks. Now the cast has grown once more, with THR reporting that Elizabeth Banks has signed up for a role, while Variety adds that Peewee Herman himself, aka Paul Reubens, will be in the movie.

The film is about an online war that develops between a successful filmmaker (Steve Carell) and a movie blogger (Jack Black). Nicolas Cage is also onboard as The Emcee, an actor known for commercial successes such as Fat Dad, while Kevin Kline stars as the director’s brother.

Banks is set to play a well-regarded actress whose career is largely made up of formulaic comedy bombs, who has an affair with Carell’s character. Reubens meanwhile will be an old school film critic.

It isn’t certain when the movie will start filming.

What To Expect When You’re Expecting Trailer

December 9, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Turning a self-help book into a movie is a bit of a strange idea if you ask me, but they’ve done it with What To Expect When You’re Expecting, which follows several couples through the dubious joys of pregnancy. Over the moon about starting a family, TV fitness guru Jules and dance show star Evan find that their high-octane celebrity lives don’t stand a chance against the surprise demands of pregnancy. Baby-crazy author and advocate Wendy gets a taste of her own militant mommy advice when pregnancy hormones ravage her body; while Wendy’s husband, Gary, struggles not to be outdone by his competitive alpha-Dad, who’s expecting twins with his much younger trophy wife, Skyler. Photographer Holly is prepared to travel the globe to adopt a child, but her husband Alex isn’t so sure, and tries to quiet his panic by attending a “dudes” support group, where new fathers get to tell it like it really is. And rival food truck chefs Rosie and Marco’s surprise hook-up results in an unexpected quandary: what to do when your first child comes before your first date? The film’s out next May.

The Hunger Games Trailer

November 14, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

They’re certainly hyping up The Hunger Games, in the hopes it will take over from Twilight as the top young adult franchise around. Now the first full trailer for the movie has arrives, which certainly make the movie look intriguing and that it may hold interest for those a little older than the target audience. Jennifer Lawrence i heads a cast that also includes Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Stanley Tucci, to tell the tale of a future society where the US has broken down into separate factions, and the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in The Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which ‘Tributes’ must fight with one another until one survivor remains. Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence), is representing District 12, replacing her chosen younger sister. The film arrives in cinemas March 23rd, 2012.
