Milo Ventimiglia, Stanley Tucci & Anne Heche Feel The Heat

April 12, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

milo-ventimigliaIf you said to most people that they’re remaking Heat, they’d think of the 1995 De Niro and Pacino starrer directed by Michael Mann, but the one that’s being planned is a do-over of a 1986 Burt Reynolds with the same name.

Jason Statham’s already signed on, with Deadline reporting that he’s now been joined by Stanley Tucci, Anne Heche, Cedric The Entertainer, Hope Davis and Milo Ventimiglia. Sophia Vergara, Michael Angarano, and Dominik Garcia-Lorido have previously signed up.

The original Heat starred Burt Reynolds as an enforcer who takes on protection jobs to support his burgeoning gambling addiction. The plot thickens when his friend is badly beaten by the mob, and he vows to take on the mafia organisation.

William Goldman, who wrote the novel and the screenplay adaptation for the original thriller, is on board to pen the remake, with Simon West directing.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Effie Trinket & Caesar Flickman Capitol Portraits

March 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After the success of The Hunger Games, there’s a massive amount of excitement in some quarters for the follow-up, Catching Fire. Now a couple of ‘Capitol Portraits’ have surfaced, featuring Caesar Flickman (Stanley Tucci) and Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), done in oil painting style.

The pics come via a Facebook App, that will be releasing more pics over the next day or two.

Here’s the synopsis for the film: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

The film’s due out November 22nd.

Jack The Giant Slayer Banner Posters Arrive – Do you prefer the giants or humans?

January 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s only a couple of months until Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Slayer hits cinemas on March 22nd, and so Warner had decided to try and keep us interested by releasing two banners posters – one featuring the giants and the other the humans. We have to say Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Eleanor Tomlinson all look rather dashing, while the giants won’t be winning any beauty awards.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.’

Take a look at the banners above and below.

Mark Feuerstein Turns Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant

November 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Although it hasn’t been confirmed this one has some gay interest to, it’s about flight attendants and the lead character is called Larry Gaye – so we’re going to stereotype this one and call LGBT interest on it!

Mark Feuerstein, star of TV’s Royal Pains, has revealed he’s steering the movie Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant, which already has a great cast attached, including Feuerstein himself, alongside Stanley Tucci, Marcia Gay Harden, Molly Shannon, Taye Diggs, and Henry Winkler.

Variety reports the film, ‘follows womanizing, self-anointed ‘renegade’ male flight attendant Larry Gaye (Feuerstein), who must save the day when the airline he works for tries to eliminate flight attendants as a cost-cutting measure.’

The actor apparently fell in love with the script by his friend Mike Sikowitz (best known for writing several episodes of Friends) and has been steering it to production. Now it’s set start shooting in Janaury, with Sam Friedlander (Royal Pains) directing.

Feuerstein commented, “I can’t believe we get to make this ridiculous, fun and incredibly funny. “This character’s not just a male flight attendant – he’s a renegade male flight attendant. Larry Gaye makes his own rules and then he breaks them. This is my ‘Rocky!’ I’m so excited!”

New Jack The Giant Slayer Trailer – Take a look at Bryan Singer’s fairytale fantasy

November 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s taken a long time to get Jack The Giant Slayer to the screen, largely due to the special effects and creation of the fairy tale world, which saw the shooting delayed and then the film’s initial June 2012 release date slipping. However Bryan Singer’s film is now incoming, with a March 22nd 2013 release date set and a new, fantastical trailer having popped up online.

The trailer certainly suggests this is going to be an overtly family friendly affair, with liberal doses of comedy and a tone that suggests this won’t have the darkness of some recent fantasy movies. The film is a liberal retelling of the classic Jack & The Beanstalk tale, in which the long-standing peace between men and giants is threatened, as a young farmer (Nicholas Hoult) leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess.

Alongside Hoult, the likes of Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Bill Nighy and Ian McShane star. To be honest we’re not entirely convinced by this trailer, as it seems a little silly, but we’ll reserve judgement.

Margin Call (DVD)

November 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Zachary Quinto, Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci, Jeremy Irons, Penn Badgley
Director: J.C. Chandor
Running Time: 105 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: November 12th 2012

While the financial crisis has been one of the biggest global events since the Second World War, the film industry has had difficulty dealing with it. Part of the reason for that is the fear that if you just have a bunch of people sitting around talking about numbers, the audience’s eyes will glaze over and they’ll start heading for the exit. However writer/director J.C. Chandor trusts that not everyone completely zones out if things aren’t simple, and also realises that if you get a great bunch of actors together, you can take on subjects that might initially seem dull, but can still actually make a really good film. The Hunger Games – The Unseen Version (Blu-ray)

August 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci
Director: Gary Ross
Running Time: 142 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: September 3rd 2012

In the early days of DVD, studios went to great trouble putting together really good packages, with feature-length documentaries, plenty of featurettes and various other bits and pieces to please film fans. These releases are becoming increasingly rare, with even major mega-budget blockbusters often getting paltry extras that are only there because they’re expected and give the marketers something to write on the back of the box. It’s nice then that The Hunger Games gets a two-disc Blu-ray release with around three hours of features, including an extremely good 122 minute ‘making of’ documentary. [Read more…]

Stanley Tucci’s Got Your Voice in My Head

March 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Stanley Tucci is always a guarantee of a bit of class in a movie, and he’ll now be lending that to Your Voice In My Head, as Variety reports that the actor, who can currently be seen as Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games, has signed on to star in Your Voice in My Head for director David Yates.

Emma Watson will reunite with Yates to play the female lead in the film, which is based on the memoirs of screenwriter Emma Forrest, who begins a downward spiral after her relationship with a famous journalist ends. She is saved from the brink of suicide by a terminally ill psychiatrist.

Emma Watson will play Emma Forrest and Stanley Tucci is set to portray the therapist. It is said that the therapist role was being sought after by A-list talent such as George Clooney before Stanley Tucci won the role.

Shooting will begin sometime this summer.

Jack The Giant Killer Trailer – Plus the first poster for the fantasy

December 16, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With all the fuss over the likes of The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises, it’s easy to forget there are some other big movies coming next summer and a few of them aren’t even based on comic books! Nope, they’re based on fairy tales instead. Along with two Snow Whites, we’ve got Bryan Singer’s mega-budget take on Jack & The Beanstalk, called Jack The Giant Killer. While the original tale is a bit silly and fun, this first trailer suggests Singer’s taking it all fairly seriously, but with plenty of fantasy action to keep us interested. Nicholas Hoult takes the title role, with the movie due in UK cinemas on June 15th. And take a look at the first poster below.
