Me Before You Extended Trailer – Emilia Clarke & Sam Claflin find rom-com love

March 28, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

me-before-you-poster-slideSynopsis: ‘Often times you find love where you least expect it. Sometimes it takes you where you never expected to go… Louisa “Lou” Clark (Clarke) lives in a quaint town in the English countryside. With no clear direction in her life, the quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet.

‘Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge. Taking a job at the local “castle,” she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye. No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up. That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives—and hearts—changing in ways neither one could have imagined.’

First Look At Wonder Woman Alongside The Amazonian Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lisa Loven Kongsli

March 26, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

wonder-woman-and-amazonsTo tie in with the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, a new pic from Wonder Woman has been released, featuring the title character alongside some of the Amazonian women, including Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright and Lisa Loven Kongsli.

Nielsen is playing Wonder Woman’s mom, Hippolyta, with Wright as General Antiope and Kongsli as Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe. All of them live on Themyscira, a island that is hidden from the rest of the world, where the fierce Amazonian women of Greek legend still thrive.

EW comments, ‘Hippolyta, a revolutionary leader, longs to shelter her beloved daughter from the outside world, but Antiope, the Amazon responsible for Diana’s training, wants to prepare her. “She is the only child they raised together,” says [director, Patty Jenkins], calling from outside London, where she is deep into the film’s production. “And their love for her manifests in a different way for each of them.”

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman makes her debut in Batman v Superman, all ready to set up her own solo adventure, which Warner/DC will bring to cinemas in June 2017.

Elisabeth Shue & Andrea Riseborough Will Have A Battle of the Sexes Opposite Emma Stone’s Billie Jean King

March 22, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

elisabeth-shueFox Searchlight’s Battle of the Sexes has been in the works a long time, but now it finally looks like its moving forwards. Emma Stone has been attached for quite a long time (although she was briefly replaced by Brie Larson when it looked like schedules wouldn’t work out) and was joined more recently by Steve Carell. Now Variety reports that she’s been joined by Elisabeth Shue and Andrea Riseborough.

The film will be set in the early 70s, when former male World Number 1 tennis played and self-proclaimed chauvinist Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) declared that the female game was inferior and that a top woman player couldn’t beat him even at the age of 55. He then challenged the already legendary female player Billie Jean King to a match, but she declined.

However Margaret Court, who was then the top female player in the world, took on the challenge, but lost to Bobby in straight sets, seemingly confirming Riggs’ claims. King wasn’t going to stand for that and agreed to play Bobby in what became a nationally televised media sensation. It was an important time in King’s life for another reason too, as for the first time she’d relatively recently become involved in a relationship with a woman, even though she was still married to a man at the time.

Shue is set to be Riggs’ wife. It’s not clear who Riseborough will be, but the best bet is either Margaret Court, or one of King’s first girlfriends. Simon Beaufoy wrote the script, with Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) set to direct.

Battle Of The Sexes is one of three films about the events doing the rounds, with HBO backing HBO backing Proof with Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti, and Will Ferrell attached to Match Maker. Interest in the match was reignited by a 2013 documentary, also called The Battle Of The Sexes.

Garrett Hedlund, Carey Mulligan & Jason Clarke Are Set To Be Mudbound

March 22, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

garrett-hedlundMudbound isn’t exactly the most exciting name for a movie, but the indie drama has attracted a good cast, with Variety reporting that Garrett Hedlund, Carey Mulligan, Jason Clarke and Jason Mitchell are all in talks to star. Dee Rees (Bessie, Pariah) is set to direct.

The film, ‘revolves around a city worker in a WWII-torn country who relocates his family to a failing Mississippi farm and is forced to overcome insurmountable hardships, including his brother’s return from war.’ Virgil Williams wrote the script, based on Hillary Jordan’s novel.

The film is currently looking for financing, with the film hoping to shoot later this year.
