Walking With Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie Trailer – The giant beasties are coming this Christmas

May 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Back in 1999 TV audiences were amazed by the CG dinos of Walking With Dinosaurs, which led sequels, spin-offs and even a live arena tour with enormous animatronic dinos. Now it’s coming to cinemas, with Walking With Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie due in cinemas this Christmas.

The first trailer for the film has now arrived, which looks pretty cool and should get youngsters excited for the chance to see dinosaurs in 3D. And while the original Walking With Dinosaurs took a documentary tack, the film seems like it’s adding in a lot more fictional heartstring pull.

It’s currently due out December 20th. [Read more…]

Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine on July 26th, and while we had a trailer a few weeks ago, some new footage has now popped up online in a exclusive trailer made for CinemaCon. Some we’ve seen already but there’s some new stuff too, which doesn’t add much to our understanding of the story, it looks cool.

Here’s the story: ‘Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Glenn Close & Frank Langella Going 5 to 7 With Anton Yelchin

May 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

glenn-closeA few months ago, Anton Yelchin signed up to star in 5 To 7. While it had been due to shoot in February, that’s slipped until after the actor has finished promoting Star Trek Into Darkness (which seems to have caused Diane Kruger to leave the film). Now a new start date in June has been set and so Anton needs some co-stars.

Variety reports that Glenn Close, Frank Langella, Berenice Marlohe, Lambert Wilson and Olivia Thirlby have signed up to appear in the movie.

Yelchin will play a young novelist living in New York who begins an affair with the wife of a French Diplomat (Marlohe). Lambert Wilson is set to play the cuckolded diplomat, Thirlby will be a New York book editor, while Langella and Close will play the novelist’s parents.

Victor Levin is directing the indie dramedy from his own script.

James D’Arcy Set To Get Villainous In Let’s Be Cops

May 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-darcyBrit actor James D’Arcy’s Stateside exposure has certainly been helped in the last few months by Cloud Atlas, and Hitchcock. It’s helped him score a role in a slightly more mainstream project, Let’s Be Cops, according to Variety.

The movie is about two best friends – Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson – who are looking for a little more out of life. They impersonate cops for kicks, but when they unknowingly mess with a real mobster, the game gets real.

D’Arcy will play the bad guy that Johnson and Wayans’ characters cross. Vampire Diaries’ star Nina Dobrev has also recently signed up to play Johnson’s love interest.

There’s no news on when the film might shoot.

Lily Collins Heads For Pride, Prejudice and Zombies, With Burr Steers Directing

May 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lily-collinsRather like the undead it features, Pride, Prejudice and Zombies is a project that just won’t die. It’s been in development for years, with directors such as David O. Russell, Mike White and Craig Gillespie attached to helm at various points, while Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson have flirted with starring.

However, while there have been moments when it’s seemed the idea of an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s book was dead, it’s always returned. Now it’s being resurrected once again, with Variety reporting that Lily Collins is set to star, with Burr Steers (17 Again, Charlie St. Cloud) attached to direct.

Grahame-Smith’s book is a retelling of Pride & Prejudice, which keeps much of Jane Austen’s original text, but adds in a zombie apocalypse to give the classic love story an extra bit of zing. Collins will play the Elizabeth Bennet character.

David O. Russell wrote the initial draft of the script, but it is unknown if they’ll work from that or start over.

Jane Got a Gun Loses Yet Another Talent, This Time Bradley Cooper

May 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bradley-cooperIt seems like Jane Got A Gun is bidding to join the ranks of legendary cursed productions, as after Michael Fassbender departed shortly before production due to scheduling problems, he was joined shortly afterwards by director Lynn Ramsay, who had creative differences with the producer. That led Jude Law to depart, who was then replaced by Bradley Cooper.

However Cooper has now gone too, according to Deadline, saying he’d hoped to fit it in but is too busy shooting David O’Russell’s new film and promoting The Hangover Part III. O’Russell’s film was affected by the Boston Bombings, which seems to have caused some delays.

Gavin O’Connor is now directing Jane Got A Gun, and as he had to come in at the last minute they added in a production break to help him get caught up. Cooper was due to film his scenes in the second part of the shoot, which starts next month, but they’ll now have to find a replacement.

Producers have already reached out to Jake Gyllenhaal, who’s unavailable, and are also looking at the likes of Tobey Maguire, and Tom Hiddleston to fill their latest casting void.

Natalie Portman stars as the title character, whose husband (Noah Emmerich) comes home riddled with bullet wounds. When the band of outlaws comes to Jane’s farm to finish the job, she seeks help from a former lover (Joel Edgerton) to ward off these gunmen.

Cooper was due to plain the main villain.

Violet & Daisy Trailer – Saoirse Ronan & Alexis Bleidel are teen assassins

May 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Violet & Daisy premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to mixed reviews, but it certainly looks like it could be interesting. Now the trailer has arrived, so we can get a better feel for this semi-arthouse teen killer tale.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Violet (Alexis Bledel) and Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) are a pair of gum-cracking teenage assassins who casually snuff out crime figures in New York City, distracted only by the fact that a concert by their favorite pop idol Barbie Sunday has suddenly been canceled. Determined to raise cash for some Barbie Sunday dresses, the duo takes on a new hit job targeting a mysterious loner (James Gandolfini) who leads them into an unexpected odyssey of self-examination and catapults the junior enforcers into a world beyond Barbie Sunday and bullets for pay. From Academy Award-winning screenwriter Geoffrey Fletcher (PRECIOUS) comes a mesmerizing hybrid of New York City crime fable and existential coming-of-age drama. In VIOLET & DAISY teenage kicks match wits with adult-world turmoil, placing three wounded souls into a line of fire none expected — themselves.’

No UK release date is currently set, but it’ll be out in the US on June 7th. [Read more…]
