The Place Beyond the Pines hits cinemas in the US on March 29th and the UK on April 12th. With the release date fast approaching a new UK poster and couple more images of Ryan Gosling in the movie have been released, which you can see above and below.

The film reunites Gosling with Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance, to tell the tale of Luke (Gosling), a professional motorcycle rider who turns to bank robberies to support his newborn son. However, when he crosses paths with a rookie police officer (Bradley Cooper), their violent confrontation spirals into a tense generational feud. Rose Byrne, Eva Mendes, Ray Liotta and Dane DeHaan also star.

The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to good although not rapturous reviews, and will hope for success with general audiences soon. Click on the pics below for larger versions.

Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis & Director Seth Gordon On For One Night on the Hudson

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jason-sudeikisCharlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and director Seth Gordon must like working together as just last week they all agreed to reunite for Horrible Bosses 2, and now THR reports they’re also planning the new comedy One Night on the Hudson.

The film is about a rookie police officer who catches a criminal, both of whom have to go on the run to escape a unit of corrupt cops. It isn’t immediately clear which roles Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis will play at this time, although presumably one will be the policeman and the other the criminal.

T.J. Fixman wrote the screenplay. He’s a video game writer whose credits include Resistance 2, Overstrike, and the Ratchet and Clank series, although this will be his first feature film.

Die Hard 5’s Jai Courtney To Play Eric In Divergent

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jai Courtney

Jai Courtney

Summit Entertainment is betting big on Divergent to be their new Twilight, and they’re now busy filling out the cast for the film. Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, Zoë Kravitz, and Ansel Elgort are already set for the movie, and they’ve now been joined by Die Hard 5’s Jai Courtney, according to Deadline.

The film is based on Veronica Roth novel, which depicts a futuristic America that is divided into five factions: selflessness (Abnegation), peacefulness (Amity), honesty (Candor), bravery (Dauntless), and intelligence (Erudite). At the age of 16, each citizen must choose which trait they want to devote the rest of their lives to.

Courtney is set to play the leader of the Dauntless tribe, who’s called Eric. He serves as one of the primary antagonists for Shailene Woodley’s Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior, who struggles with the Dauntless initiation when she makes a powerful discovery about her hidden strength, and uncovers a conspiracy to destroy all people like her. In the book Eric is described as having multiple facial piercings, although it’s not known if this will follow through into the movie.

Neil Burger is directing from an adapted screenplay by Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman).

Joel Kinnaman Joins Tom Hardy & Noomi Rapace In Child 44

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joel-kinnamanTom Hardy & Noomi Rapace are spending much of this year together, making Animal Rescue and Child 44. Now they’ve got a new co-star for the latter, as Joel Kinnaman is in talks to join the movie. Kinnaman will reunite with director Daniel Espinosa for the film, having previously worked together on Snabba Cash and last year’s action-thriller, Safe House.

Child 44 is set in 1950s Russia, with Hardy as a Soviet military police officer who becomes the target of his suspicious government while he’s investigating a string of child murders. Joel Kinnaman will play the killer responsible for these brutal deaths. Noomi Rapace is Hardy’s wife.

Daniel Espinosa will direct from a screenplay by Richard Price, adapted from the Tom Rob Smith novel of the same name. Shooting will start this summer. (Source: THR)

WWE’s Dave Bautista To Play Drax The Destroyer In Guardians of the Galaxy

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dave-bautistaIt seems WWE fights really wants to follow in Dwayne Johnson’s footsteps by making it big in Hollywood. Last year he appeared in Scorpion King 3 and starred in RZA’s fight flick The Man With The Iron Fists, while this year he’ll be seen in Riddick.

Now he’s been confirmed for his biggest role yet, playing Drax the Destroyer in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, according to THR. Jason Momoa was previously in talks to take on the part, although he lost out by hoping for a better deal from the studio (seemingly not realising that Marvel doesn’t do better deals, as people are so keen to be part of the Marvel world that it doesn’t need to). Isaiah Mustafa and Brian Patrick were also in contention for the role.

So far Chris Pratt is the only other confirmed cast member member for the film. He’ll play Peter Quill, aka Star Lord. Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer was born as a human called Arthur Phillips. After he was murdered by Thanos, he was given a powerful new body and spirit by Kronos. The green warrior was resurrected with the sole purpose of killing by being that killed him. His powers include super-human strength and the ability to emit energy blasts.

James Gunn is set to direct, with the movie shooting in Britain later this year.

Colin Trevorrow To Direct Jurassic Park IV

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Colin-TrevorrowSince his sci-fi indie debut, Safety Not Guaranteed, Colin Trevorrow’s name has been rumoured for everything from Star Wars VII to a remake of Flight Of The Navigator, but now he’s landed a major gig, as Universal has announced (via Deadline) that he will helm the long-gestating Jurassic Park IV, which is currently set for release on June 13th, 2014.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are on screenplay duties, but no story details have been released at this time. Frank Marshall is producing alongside Patrick Crowley, with original Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg serving as an executive producer.

And as you would expect nowadays, the movie will be shot in 3D.

The first three movies Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III, have grossed over $2 billion worldwide. The original Jurassic Park will be re-released in theaters with an all new 3D conversion on April 5.

Let’s just hope it’s better than Jurassic Park III. Recent rumours have suggested the movie will shoot this summer in Louisiana.

Rose Byrne Up For This Is Where I Leave You & Townies

March 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Rose-ByrneRose Byrne is one of those actresses who always pops up in things – Insidious, X-Men: First Class, Bridesmaids – without ever really hitting the big time. Now she’s got a couple more role she’ll hope will push her towards the a-list, with Townies and This Is Where I Leave You.

Universal’s Townies already has Seth Rogen and Zac Efron attached to star. Rogen will play a man who lives close to a fraternity house, which is led by the raucous Efron, and reaches a breaking point with their wild antics. Byrne is set to play the man’s wife, who’s the sensible adult in the relationship. The film will reunite Byrne with her Get Him To The Greek director Nick Stoller. Shooting is scheduled to begin sometime this spring.

This Is Where I Leave You is based on the novel by Jonathan Tropper, who also wrote the screenplay. Jason Bateman stars as one of four siblings who reunite when their father passes away. They learn that dad had one final wish, for the four of them to spend one whole week in their childhood home together, which they haven’t done in 10 years. Rose Byrne will play an old crush of Jason Bateman’s character. Tina Fey, Kathryn Hahn, Jane Fonda, and Corey Stoll also star. Shawn Levy directs with shooting due to start this June.

Veronica Mars Movie Gets $2 Million Kickstarter Funding & A Greenlight

March 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac 2 Comments

Veronica-Mars-CastEver since Veronica Mars ended on TV in 2007, Kristen Bell and creator Rob Thomas have talked up a movie version, but as the series was never a big hit on television, it didn’t seem like Warner Bros. would ever take a punt of a film. However Thomas & Bell never gave up, eventually striking on the idea of going to Kickstarter and seeing if they could get $2 million to greenlight a Veronica Mars film.

The crowd-funding campaign has been more successful than either Bell or Thomas could have dreamed, raising the full $2 million in less than 12 hours. Many are already calling it fastest and largest fund raiser in the history of crowd-funded movies.

As a result of the success, Bell and Thomas have announced that the film now has the greenlight. While the Kickstarter money will go towards production, it was as much to prove to Warner Bros. that there is enough interest to make it worth them putting up the rest of the cash. The studio is now committed to a summer start date for the movie.

Rob Thomas commented, “My mind is blown. I’ve been fantasizing about this taking big and had to tell myself, ‘Stop it, Rob, you’re being silly. You’re setting yourself up for disappointment. And now today has exceeded the wildest pipe dream I let myself entertain. Holy cow. We better make a good movie. These amazing fans have stepped up. We better deliver.”

Kristen Bell added, “I knew Veronica Mars fans were cool, but I had no idea they could rally with such power. They are unstoppable – just like Veronica. I will have a permanent blush on my face, feeling so lucky to be associated with this entire thing.

The plan is for the movie to get a limited theatrical release as well as a VOD release. Rob Thomas added that the studio was eager to try out this Kickstarter campaign, “Kristen Bell and I met with the Warner Bros. brass, and they agreed to allow us to take this shot. They were extremely cool about it, as a matter of fact. Their reaction was, if you can show there’s enough fan interest to warrant a movie, we’re on board.”

New Scary Movie 5 Trailer Hits – Do we need another one? Charlie Sheen thinks so

March 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I can’t imagine there are many people who’ve spent the last six years praying we’d get another Scary Movie film, but it’s coming anyway, with an April 12th release set and a second trailer to try and win us over to more horror spoofery.

Mainly based around Paranormal Activity, with plenty of other movie reference chucked in, the film stars Ashley Tisdale, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Jerry O’Connell and Terry Crews, among others.

I’m ready to bet already that this won’t win next year’s Best Picture Oscar.

The Lone Ranger International Trailer – Exploding even bigger in Japanese

March 14, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The voiceover and text in this new international trailer might be in Japanese, but you don’t really need to translate special effects and explosions, so it’s definitely worth taking a look.

There’s plenty of new footage to give us a taste of the big budget take on the classic western.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero  is brought to life through new eyes.  Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.’

The film hits cinema on August 9th 2013.
