Macbeth Trailer – Michael Fassbender takes on Shakespeare’s Scottish king

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

macbeth-pic1-slideAfter what seems like a very long wait, Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in a new film version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth is on its way, and the trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The highly anticipated tale of war, ambition, love, murder and betrayal, directed by Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) and starring Academy-Award nominee Michael Fassbender (Twelve Years A Slave, Shame, Hunger) and Academy-Award winner Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night, La Vie En Rose) will see a UK release on OCTOBER 2nd.

‘Macbeth is the story of a fearless warrior and inspiring leader brought low by ambition and desire. A thrilling interpretation of the dramatic realities of the times and a reimagining of what wartime must have been like for one of literature’s most famous and compelling characters, a story of all-consuming passion and ambition set in war torn Scotland.

‘MACBETH is from the producers of The King’s Speech and Shame. MACBETH also stars Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum), David Thewlis (the Harry Potter series), Sean Harris (Prometheus), Jack Reynor (What Richard Did) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby).’ [Read more…]

New Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation Trailer – Tom Cruise goes to war with the Syndicate

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mission-impossible-rogue-nation-poster2-slideIt would seem the Mission: Impossible franchise has decided it wants to sit halfway between a Marvel superhero movie and a James Bond flick, but considering the amount of money those films make, that’s probably not a bad decision for Paramount to have made.

Synopsis: ‘With the IMF disbanded, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, the team now faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate. These highly trained operatives are hellbent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who may or may not be a member of this rogue nation, as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.’

Tom Cruise star alongside Simon Pegg, Jeremy Renner and Ving Rhames, and adds to the cast Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin

New Vacation Trailer – Ed Helms & Chevy Chase try to have a holiday

June 4, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Vacation-Main-PosterSynopsis: The next generation of Griswolds is at it again. New Line Cinema’s “Vacation,” starring Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Christina Applegate (the “Anchorman” films), takes the family on the road for another ill-fated adventure. The film marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut.

Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America’s “favorite family fun park,” Walley World.

Rounding out the cast are Leslie Mann (“The Other Woman”) as Rusty’s sister, Audrey; Chris Hemsworth (the “Thor” films) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; and Skyler Gisondo (“Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb,” “Hard Sell”) and Steele Stebbins (“A Haunted House 2”), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic “Vacation” comedies.

Goldstein & Daley (“Horrible Bosses,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”) wrote the script, based on characters created by John Hughes. David Dobkin (upcoming “The Judge,” “Wedding Crashers”) and Chris Bender (“We’re the Millers,” “Horrible Bosses 2”) are producing, with Marc S. Fischer and Jeff Kleeman serving as executive producers. [Read more…]

Do I Sound Gay? Trailer – Is it time to re-embrace the gay voice?

June 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

do-i-sound-gay-slideWe first reported on Do I Sound Gay? in April 2014 when it was crowdfunding for completion cash. Now it’s finished and has a distribution deal which means it will arrive in US cinemas and on VoD on July 10th.

The trailer is here giving us a look at a film which goes deep into the idea of the ‘gay voice’, which for decades became the butt of jokes by straight people at the expense of LGBT people. As a results fell out of favour with many, who felt that in the fight for equal rights the gay voice undermined that battle and allowed straight people to think we were inherently different to them.

However in recent years there’s been a fightback, with many believing that the belittling of the gay voice marks a kind of assimilation that cannot accept difference and actually undermines what gay people have been fighting for – the right to be whoever we are without shame. It may also be that dislike of the gay voice, allied with an obsession with being ‘straight-acting’, is a mark of internalised homophobia.

Director David Thorpe has previously said, “In the tradition of funny-but-serious first-person movies like Supersize Me, Roger and Me and Good Hair, you’ll follow me as I encounter a colorful cast of linguists, historians, voice coaches, speech therapists, friends, family, and total strangers on the street, gay and non-gay, who share their wisdom and touching, funny stories about the “gay voice.” You’ll also hear intimate confessions and hilarious anecdotes from LGBT icons – Margaret Cho, Tim Gunn, Don Lemon, Dan Savage, David Sedaris and George Takei – as they open up about the “gay voice.” Thanks to all the incredible people I met, I was able to embrace my authentic voice.” [Read more…]

Suffragette Trailer – The Carey Mulligan, Ben Whishaw & Meryl Streep movie will also open the London Film Festival

June 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

suffragette-pic2The London Film Festival may not be until October, but there’s been a very early announcement of the opening film, as Suffragette will kick off the event with its European Premiere on October 7th. Alongside that news came the trailer for film.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film stars Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw and Meryl Streep. It is directed by LFF alumna Sarah Gavron, who returns to the Festival for a third time, reteaming with her Brick Lane screenwriter Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady). SUFFRAGETTE is produced by Faye Ward and Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks, LFF Closing Night film, 2013).

‘SUFFRAGETTE is an intense drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement as they fought for the right to vote, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse with an increasingly brutal State. These women were not primarily from the genteel educated classes, they were working women who had seen peaceful protest achieve nothing. Radicalised and turning to violence as the only route to change, they were willing to lose everything in their fight for equality – their jobs, their homes, their children and their lives. The character of Maud, played by Carey Mulligan, is one such foot soldier. The story of her fight for dignity is both heart-breaking and inspirational.’

Take a look trailer below. The movie will reach UK cinemas on October 30th. [Read more…]

99 Homes Trailer – Andrew Garfield wants out of the eviction business

June 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

99-homes-slideAndrew Garfield is doing something a little different than swinging through the streets of New York as Spider-man with his new film, 99 Homes. Now the trailer has arrived, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In this timely thriller, charismatic and ruthless businessman, Rick Carver (Academy nominee Michael Shannon), is making a killing by repossessing homes – gaming the real estate market, Wall Street banks and the US government. When he evicts Dennis Nash (Golden Globe nominee Andrew Garfield), a single father trying to care for his mother (Academy Award nominee Laura Dern) and young son (newcomer Noah Lomax), Nash becomes so desperate to provide for his family that he goes to work for Carver – the very man who evicted him in the first place. Carver promises Nash a way to regain his home and earn security for his family, but slyly seduces him into a lifestyle of wealth and glamour. It is a deal-with-the-devil that comes with an increasingly high cost – on Carver’s orders, Nash must evict families from their homes. As Nash falls deeper into Carver’s web, he finds his situation grows more brutal and dangerous than he ever imagined.’

The film is due in US cinemas on September 25th, 2015, and in the UK on October 16th. [Read more…]

Paper Towns Trailer – Nat Wolff gets into a mystery in the John Green adaptation

June 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paper-Towns-posterAlthough it sounds like a rather different type of movie, Paper Towns will be hoping to follow the success of The Fault in Our Stars, as they’re both adapted from books by John Green. Indeed there’s a sense Hollywood is hoping Green can be a Nicholas Sparks for young adults.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Adapted from the bestselling novel by author John Green (“The Fault in Our Stars”), PAPER TOWNS is a coming-of-age story centring on Quentin and his enigmatic neighbour Margo, who loved mysteries so much she became one. After taking him on an all-night adventure through their hometown, Margo suddenly disappears–leaving behind cryptic clues for Quentin to decipher. The search leads Quentin and his quick-witted friends on an exhilarating adventure that is equal parts hilarious and moving. Ultimately, to track down Margo, Quentin must find a deeper understanding of true friendship–and true love.’

Take a look at the trailer below. The film’s in UK cinemas on 17th August. [Read more…]

Folsom Forever Exclusive Clip – Showing off the incredible diversity of the fetish scene street fair

June 2, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

folsom-forever-slide2I wish I’d never watched the clip below. I always knew my life would be the complete the moment I saw Mickey Mouse wearing nothing but a jockstrap and high heels posing as if he were giving a BJ to Minnie. Now I’ve seen it and I don’t know what the point will be of the rest of my existence.

However that’s just part of the fascinating exclusive clip from the documentary Folsom Forever that we’ve been given, which shows off the astonishing diversity of San Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair, where a gay-friendly church can rub up against a dildo hoopla game, and you can visit the PFLAG just after you’ve seen something that means you will never think of Disneyland in the same way again.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In 1984, a scrappy little neighborhood in San Francisco – home to many low-income tenants and the heart of the gay male leather scene – faced destruction from the bulldozers of redevelopment and the AIDS crisis. The Folsom Street Fair was started to call attention to gentrification and raise money for AIDS charities. Folsom Forever tells the story of how this small street fair grew into the biggest outdoor kink and fetish event in the world, and managed to do a lot of good along the way.

Breaking Glass Pictures releases Folsom Forever on DVD & VoD in the US on June 9th. [Read more…]
