House Of Card’s Corey Stoll Joins Marvel’s Ant-Man

March 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

corey-stollThe Ant-Man cast continues to grow with the news that the always excellent Corey Stoll (House Of Card, Midnight In Paris) has joined the cast, according to TheWrap, although it’s not known who he will play.

He’ll star alongside Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd as original Ant-Man Hank Pym and his eventual successor Scott Lang. Evangeline Lilly will be the female lead, who is rumoured to be Pym’s daughter and Lang’s love interest.

Patrick Wilson and Michael Pena are also set for currently unknown roles (although it’s believed Pena will be a villain).

Marvel hasn’t officially released any plot details, but it’s believed the story starts in the 1960s, where Hank Pym, who has invented technology that can shrink him to a tiny size, is working as a spy fighting Communism for the government. The story then shifts to the present day, where Michael Douglas is an older Hank Pym. It’s been suggested Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang initially steals Pym’s tech, but eventually starts to work with him and become the Ant-man.

Edgar Wright is directing from a script he co-wrote with Joe Cornish. Filming begins next month.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Trailer – Can one film handle this many famous mutants?

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

X-Men: Days of Future Past always looked like it was gonna be a big movie, but it’s not until this trailer that we’ve been able to see just how massive it is. The idea of the two X-Men casts coming together is exciting enough, but that’s only one part of this trailer, which really piled on some enormous effects-filled set-pieces.

Now we can’t wait until the movie’s May release.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.’

Take a look at the trailer where the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Ian McKellen, James McAvoy, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage and Halle Berry are only the beginning of the new and old faces we’ll get to see.

Oh, and enjoy the new poster below. [Read more…]

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Step Up has proved to be a surprisingly lucrative franchise, due to the fact each film doesn’t cost a huge amount to make but they always seem to be able to find an audience. Now Step Up All In is coming and a trailer has been released.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the next exciting chapter of the international phenomenon STEP UP, all-stars from previous installments come together in glittering Las Vegas, battling for a victory that could define their dreams and their careers.’

Edge Of Tomorrow Tease – Take a brief look at the Tom Cruise sci-fi ahead of tomorrow’s trailer

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Trailers for trailer are a bit of an odd thing, but when it’s an original movie with a massive budget, you can understand why a studio would think letting people know a trailer is coming and what they might expect. Now a brief look at Edge Of Tomorrow has arrived ahead of tomorrow’s full trailer – and it’s here to show this is going to be sci-fi on a huge scale.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The epic action of ‘Edge of Tomorrrow’ unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

‘Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

‘But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

‘The international cast also includes Bill Paxton (“Aliens,” HBO’s “Big Love”), Kick Gurry (Australian TV’s “Tangle”), Dragomir Mrsic (“Snabba Cash II”), Charlotte Riley (“World Without End”), Jonas Armstrong (BBC TV’s “Robin Hood”), and Franz Drameh (“Attack the Block”).

‘Liman is directing “Edge of Tomorrow” from a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Jez Butterworth & John-Henry Butterworth, based on the acclaimed novel All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.’

It’s out at the end of May. [Read more…]

Ellen Page May Be John Belushi’s Wife Alongside Emile Hirsch In A New Biopic

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ellen-Page
A couple of months ago Emile Hirsch and Miles Teller signed on to star in a biopic of legendary comic John Belushi. Now it’s time for the movie to get a bit of female energy, as TheWrap reports that Ellen Page is in talks to play Judith Jacklin, John Belushi’s wife.

Steve Conrad (The Weather Man) wrote the screenplay and is directing the biopic, which follows John Belushi’s (Emile Hirsch) life until his tragic death at the age of 33 from a heroin overdose. The story is said to be an allegory that illuminates the highs and lows of the American dream.

Teller is set to be Dan Aykroyd, became one of Belushi’s main comedy partners, working with him on Saturday Night Live and making the likes of Blues Brother together.

Jacklin meanwhile was Belushi’s high school girlfriend, who later became his wife. Both Page and Teller will have firsthand experience to draw on as Aykroyd and Judith (who now goes by the surname Belushi-Pisano) are acting as producers.

Dwayne Johnson Gets Shirtless In New Hercules Photos

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hercules-brett-ratner2
In early 2014, it’s Kellan Lutz who’s been Hercules, but come summer we’ve got another take on the legend, with Dwayne Johnson taking on the role and Brett Ratner directing. Now USA Today has released a couple of stills from the movie, which show The Rock in action mode.

Is it just us, or does the shirtless one above look like it could have fallen out of a gay porn vid. You just need another guy stood behind him.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Everyone knows the legend of Hercules and his twelve labors. Our story begins after the labors, and after the legend…

‘Haunted by a sin from his past, Hercules has become a mercenary. Along with five faithful companions, he travels ancient Greece selling his services for gold and using his legendary reputation to intimidate enemies. But when the benevolent ruler of Thrace and his daughter seek Hercules’ help to defeat a savage and terrifying warlord, Hercules finds that in order for good to triumph and justice to prevail… he must again become the hero he once was… he must embrace his own myth… he must be Hercules.’

Joseph Fiennes, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Rebecca Ferguson, Aksel Hennie and John Hurt co-star. It’ll be in cinemas this July (and a trailer is promised soon).

Travis Mathew’s Gay-Themed In Their Room: Berlin Is Online For Free, But Only For A Limited Time

March 22, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

in-their-room-berlin-slide
Travis Mathews has been getting a fair amount of attention for his movie I Want Your Love and his collaboration with James Franco, Interior Leather Bar. However for several years he’s been making In Their Room shorts.

He started off with In Their Room: San Francisco in 2009, which was initially just going to be a series of interviews with gay people in their bedrooms talking about their live, but as the project continued it took on a more intimate, sexual dimension. That was followed by 2011’s In Their Room: Berlin, which looked at the gay experience amongst a group of German guys, and most recently In Their Room: London (which Mathews shot while in the UK for a film festival).

While they’ve screened at fests and few of the segments have shown up online, due to their mix of documentary and explicit sexuality it’s been difficult to get them proper distribution. However now porn company NakedSword has stepped forward and put In Their Room: Berlin online for free at www.iwantyourlovethemovie.com – but only until March 30th, after which it will be behind the paywall in the member’s area of the NakedSword site.

NakedSword was the company that backed Mathews I Want Your Love short and followed that up by helping the movie version get made, as no one else was interested in the way he wanted to look at a more realistic depiction of gay sexuality. What the director does is certainly not porn, but because it isn’t afraid to be erotic, it’s not always been easy for him to get backing. That is starting to change though.

If you want to take a look at the 60 minutes of In Their Room: Berlin, go watch while it’s free!
