New Side Effects Trailer – Channing Tatum & Jude Law get paranoid about prescription medication

January 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Everyone’s getting pretty paranoid in the new trailer for Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects, which makes you wonder whether any viewers of the movie are going to look twice at what prescription medication they are taking.

The film stars Rooney Mara, Channing Tatum, Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones, and is about a woman (Mara) who turns to prescription medication to deal with her anxiety over her husband’s (Tatum) release from prison. She begins to take a new brand of anti-depressant, prescribed by a doctor (Jude Law), who seems to have more than a professional interest in her. Before long, everything spirals badly out of control, when it appears a murder has been committed.

The film is set for release in the UK on March 15th, 2013. It certainly looks like it’ll be a dramatic one.

New Man Of Steel Image Has Henry Cavill Looking Serious

January 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

man-of-steel-preview-pic2
Man Of Steel is definitely one of the more intriguing movies of 2013, not least for the ponderings over the tone it will have. Will it be popcorn fun? Will if be more grounded like The Dark Knight movies? Is it, as the trailers suggest, going to be rather reflective and about Superman’s internal struggle.

To be honest, it’s difficult to get much of a hint from this new photo about what modd the movie will have. We presume it’s from the scene in the trailer where Superman is standing on a military base looking rather concerned.

Expect to see far more from the movie before its June 14th release.

Glee’s Chris Colfer Talks Being ‘Pigeonholed’ For His Sexuality

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Glee star Chris Colfer doesn’t even seem to want to be pidgeonholed as an actor – he’s also written and produced the movie Struck By Lightning and had a book he authored on the New York Times Bestseller List – and he isn’t keen on being typecast as gay either.

He’s recently been talking about that and the presumptions made about him because of his sexuality. Indeed, he feels others have made a bigger deal about him being gay than he has.

He says, “I’ve never made it a big deal, it’s everyone else that’s always made it a big deal. I don’t think I’ve ever tried to be something that I’m not. I think people do that for you.

“People try to pigeonhole you. People tried typecasting me before they even saw me in anything else. I never understood that – why don’t you wait until my next project before you start telling what my career is going to look like for the next ten years.”

He’s certainly trying to defy expectations by becoming a multi-hyphenate, although we’ll have to wait and see whether he is typecast as gay in his acting career after he ends his stint on Glee.

New Song For Marion/Unfinished Song Trailer – Gemma Arterton gets Terrence Stamp to sing ‘Let’s Talk About Sex’

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It appears that while the film Song For Marion is sticking with that title in the UK, in the US it’s going to be known as Unfinished Song, as that’s the name this American trailer gives for the movie. Whatever it’s called, it looks corny but potentially fun, with Gemma Arterton getting a bunch of old folks to sing.

The film is a London-set comedic drama about grumpy pensioner Arthur (Terence Stamp) who is reluctantly inspired by his beloved wife Marion (Vanessa Redgrave) to join a highly unconventional local choir. At odds with his son James (Christopher Eccleston), it is left to choir director Elizabeth (Gemma Arterton) to try and persuade Arthur that he can learn to embrace life. Arthur must confront the undercurrents of his own grumbling persona as he embarks on a hilarious, life-affirming journey of musical self discovery.

It hits UK cinemas on February 8th.

New Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters NSFW Trailer

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We might have had to wait quite a while for the release of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but it’s not long now until the film’s February 22nd release. To help up the anticipation, Paramount has released a new red band trailer, showing this fairytale is going to be pretty violent.

The film sees Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown up versions of Hansel & Gretel, who now work as bounty hunters tracking down witches. If you were thinking this was going to be all buttercups and fairytale prettiness, think again, as it’s going to have plenty of blood and guts, along with a dark sense of humour. Tommy Wirkola directs.

New Evil Dead Remake Trailer – Things are getting very gory

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When it was announced several years ago that they were planning on remaking The Evil Dead, the presumption was that it would be a toned down, PG-13 rated cash-in. However everything we’ve seen of the movie so far has been keen to suggest that blood, guts and gore are very much part of the film. Indeed this latest trailer is impressively grisly!

In the movie five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

The movie hits UK cinemas April 13th, 2013.

New A Good Day To Die Hard Trailer – Bruce Willis gets explosive in Russia

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Presumably there’s not enough of the US left that John McLane hasn’t had a hand in destroying, and so this time he’s going international, heading to Russia to team up with his son (Jai Courtney) for a new, and as this trailer show, suitably explosive adventure.

What John doesn’t know when he first gets to Russia is that his wayward son, Jack, is actually a highly trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. Jack likes likes his modern, tech based techniques while John is old-school – and the combination may be the only way to stop the bad guys.

The film’s due out February 14th, 2013, so it’ll be a Valentine’s movie for the guys.

John Krasinski, Michael Rosenbaum & More Up For Guardians Of The Galaxy

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

isaiah-mustafaOver the past few weeks, various names have come up in connection with the role of Star Lord (aka Peter Quill) in Guardians Of The Galaxy. Now a couple more actors are said to be in contention with Michael Rosenbaum and John Krasinki up for the part, joining Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zachary Levi and Jim Sturgess on the frontrunners list.

Now it appears they’re also looking for another member of the Guardians team, as Comic Book Movie reports that Isaiah Mustafa (best known for his Old Spice ads), Dave Bautista (a WWE wrestler), and Brian Patrick Wade (Generation Kill) are contenders to play the evil Drax The Destroyer.

In the comic books, Drax began life as a normal human called Arthur Douglas, whose entire family is killed by Thanos. Super-being Kronos then tranfers Arthur’s soul into a new body so he can take on Thanos. That arc is likely to be slightly changed for the film.

Comic Book Movie is also behind the news about John Krasinki. Marvel is said to be looking at him for Peter Gunn, although it’s not clear if he’s actually going to test for the role. Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum himself tweeted that he’s up for the movie, saying ‘Read for my pal @jamesgunn GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY for PETER QUILL. What a treat! Thanks Jimmy. @marvel’.

Peter Quill is a NASA astronaut who learns that his true father is actually an alien, which leads him on a journey into outer space. With a sentient space ship, he becomes the Star-Lord, an intergalactic cop who serves as the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

James Gunn is directing from his own screenplay, a release date of August 1st, 2014 is already set.

New Oz The Great And Powerful Pics Arrive

Sam Raimi’s Oz The Great And Powerful hits cinemas on March 8th, and just in case we didn’t think this new take on the L. Frank Baum tales was bright and colourful enough, some new pictures have shown up online of James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and co.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.’
