First Look At Michael Fassbender & Marion Cotillard In Macbeth

April 19, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

macbeth-2014-pic1Shakespeare is getting an outing this year with Macbeth, and now we’ve got our first look with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard looking suitably Dark Ages, as this take retains the original story’s 11th Century setting.

Michael Fassbender is the title character, a Scottish Lord who will do anything to become king, with Marion Cotillard portraying his wife, Lady Macbeth.

However there are some new ideas, as Fassbender told the Daily Mail, his character is “Suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. It makes total sense, when you think about it. Justin set the seed of the idea in my head. This trauma is something we know about. In World War I they called it battle fatigue, and it was probably more horrific in Macbeth’s days, when they were killing with their bare hands, and driving a blade through bodies. He’s having these hallucinations, and he needs to return to the violence to find some sort of clarity, or peace.”

He adds, “He’d been away fighting and when he returns, we see it’s a relationship that’s broken down. They lost a child, and there wasn’t time for them to grieve because he’s been away campaigning. Lady M is desperate for that reconnection, and briefly they do. And, of course, the doorway has been opened to darkness and to violence.”

The actor also revealed that the cast use Scottish accents, except for Marion Cotillard, saying “We felt it would be unreasonable for her to put on a Scottish accent. It would not be unreasonable to presume that her character spent time in the French court.”

The film should be in cinemas late this year or early next.

New Yves Saint Laurent Trailer – Things are looking classy for the gay fashion designer

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

The film Yves Saint Laurent has already had its UK cinema release, but it doesn’t arrive in in the US until July. As a result it’s got a new trailer which may slightly try to hide the fact it’s all in French, but does acknowledge Laurent was gay.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Paris, 1957. 21 year old Yves is catapulted to international stardom as the successor to Christian Dior who has recently died.  At his first catwalk show he meets Pierre Bergé, who will become his lover and business partner, and begins a relationship that will change his life forever.  Just a few years later however he’s subjected to the public humiliation of being fired.  Refusing to succumb to his critics and self-doubt, he creates the Yves Saint Laurent fashion house and presents the first-ever ‘ready to wear’ collection, shocking the world of couture.

‘YVES SAINT LAURENT follows the designer as he attempts to democratise fashion against the backdrop of Sixties’ liberation, battling his personal demons to build an empire that would be renowned for liberating women all over the world.’

It’s the year for Yves Saint Laurent in film, as beyond this film there another, currently titled Saint Laurent, which stars Gaspard Ulliel (Hannibal), Louis Garrel (The Dreamers), Jérémie Renier (In Bruges) and Lea Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color). That one’s due either towards the end of this year or the beginning on 2015. [Read more…]

Zac Efron Has A ‘Gorgeous’ Penis & His Balls ‘Have A Six Pack’ In A New Comic Video

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We all know Zac Efron has a very nice body, but unfortunately he’s never shown us his man bits. However in a new comedy video the Workaholics guys – Ders, Adam and Blake – are looking for a new cubicle buddy and they get to take a look at what Efron’s got to offer.

Zac and Seth Rogen stop by (to help promote their new film, Neighbors), but the question comes up about just how Jewish Mr. Efron is, so it’s time to whip out the schlong and show whether he’s cut or not.

However while the penis may have been brought out to try and prove his ethnic heritage, the very sight of it amazes the other guys, who thinks Efron dick is a work of art. Yep, even straight guys are fasincated by what he’s got in his pants.

Unfortunately we don’t get to see if his bits really are so “gorgeous” it looks like Leonardo Da Vinci circumcised him, or whether his balls actually “have a six pack”, but we can all imagine.

Incidentally, why do American comics think the lack of a foreskin is a good way to tell whether you’re Jewish or not? It’s a joke we hear over and over, but it’s not even that great an indicator in countries with low rates of circumcision. In America around 81% of men of all denominations have had the snip, but less than 2% of people are Jewish, so the joke doesn’t actually make much sense. It can only be because the people making the joke simply haven’t seen enough American penises! [Read more…]

Bryan Singer Rape Accuser Filed A Previous Sex Abuse Suit Without Naming The Director

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bryan-singerAfter the news yesterday that 31-year-old Michael F. Egan III has filed a suit accusing X-Men director Bryan Singer of raping him when he was underage in 1999, it’s been revealed that Egan filed a previous suit over sex abuse allegations in 2000, but didn’t name Singer at the time.

Many had wondered why, when so many of the accusations in the new lawsuit involve two men called Marc Collins-Rector and Chad Shackley (and Singer was not present for numerous incidents included in the suit), they were not named as defendants. It seems the reason is that they were subject to a lawsuit in 2000, much of which revolves around the same or similar events that Singer’s name has now become involved with. THR dug out the old case but wasn’t immediately able to discover what the outcome was.

Collins-Rector and Shackley ran an early internet content company called DEN networks and apparently knew aspiring teenage actor Egan due to the fact Shackley’s younger brother Scott was in Egan’s high-school class.

While some of the allegations in the new suit are the same as the old one, they don’t include the 1999 party in Hawaii that is now at the centre of the new case. It is there that Singer is said to have given Egan drugs and alcohol, held his head underwater to force oral sex and repeatedly raped him.

Egan and his lawyer, Jeff Herman, held a press conference yesterday, where Egan claimed, “I was raped numerous times in that house [Collins-Rector & Shackley’s], by numerous individuals. You were like a piece of meat to these people.”

He also said it was reported to the police when he was 17 but it “basically fell on deaf ears.”

When THR brought the previous lawsuit to the attention of Herman, his publicist said, “From what I understand, Michael had previously disclosed the allegations against Bryan Singer, and questions about the previous lawsuit involving the DEN people should be directed to the lawyer involved in that suit.”

Singer’s lawyer, Marty Singer, responded to the latest developments, including the press conference, by saying, “The claims made today about Bryan Singer are completely fabricated. We look forward to our bringing a claim for malicious prosecution against Mr. Egan and his attorney after we prevail. It is obvious that plaintiff’s attorney is not looking to litigate the case on its merits. This matter is nothing more than the attorney seeking to get his 15 minutes of fame by sending out a press release with his ‘media consultant’ yesterday and following up with a press conference today. Attorneys who try cases don’t hold press conferences.”

The allegations against Singer have led to numerous different responses, from those who feel that it’s a shakedown to others who’ve talked about ‘rumours’ Singer likes the company of younger men. Some have also questioned the timing of the suit and the fact the abuse is said to have taken place in Hawaii, as a current amnesty on the statute of limitations for sex abuse cases in that State runs out on April 26th (normally a case has to be brought before a plaintiff in 26). It has already run out in California and most other states

However it’s not possible to infer whether this has any meaning other than this is likely Egan’s only opportunity to bring the case.

Dustin Lance Black Angry After Leaked Gay Sex Photos Get Him Disinvited From Speaking At His Old College

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dustin-lance-blackThere’s a lot of confusion at the moment over why Milk screenwriter (and Tom Daley boyfriend) Dustin Lance Black has been disinvited from speaking at the Pasadena City College commencement ceremony, the institution he attended in the 1990s. It appears the official reason is due to the fact that a couple of years ago explicit photos of Black engaging in sex with another man leaked onto the internet, which could “tarnish the school’s reputation.”

However that’s not something that was unknown before the writer was invited, and there’s also some uncertainty over whether he’s been shunned because the photos showed unsafe sex, whether the school was worried Black speaking would somehow get linked to recent controversies at the college, or for some other reason.

It seems the official explanation is a mix of the nature of the photos and the recent controversies. Those embarrassments include one PCC lecturer admitting he slept with students and another who showed nude photos of himself to those he was teaching.

“With the porno professor and the sex scandals we’ve had on campus this last year, it just didn’t seem like the right time for Mr. Black to be the speaker,” Board President Anthony Fellow told the Pasadena City College Courier. “We’ll be on the radio and on television. We just don’t want to give PCC a bad name.”

That seems to have backfired horrifically, with many now wondering what on earth the fact Black once had consensual sex and pictures of it were leaked without his consent, have to do with the college’s issues with people abusing their position.

Student Trustee Simon Fraser, who made the initial invitation, has spoken out against the board’s actions, deeming them homophobic as ‘it was not viewed as intimate contact between two adults but as a promotion of unsafe sexual practices.’

“We are held to such a different standard where any single misstep is a bad thing,” said Fraser.

The whole situation has understandably made Black rather angry. After initially simply saying, “The offer was made. I accepted the offer, booked flights, cancelled work to make room for the honor. It is heartbreaking, hurtful and wrong headed,” he decided to write and open letter to PCC (via Out).

He says, ‘In 2009 a group of people surreptitiously lifted images from my ex’s computer and shopped them around to gossip sites in a money making scheme. These were old images from a far simpler time in my life, a time before digital camera phones and Internet scandals. They were photos of me with a man I cared for, a man who shared my Mormon background, and who was also struggling with who he was versus where he came from. And yes, we were doing what gay men do when they love and trust each other, we were having sex. I have never lied about my sexuality. If you invade my privacy, this is what you will find. I have sex. It brings me joy, fosters intimacy and helps love grow. I hope anyone reading this can say the same for themselves and for their parents.

‘In 2010 I took the perpetrators of this theft to Federal court and Judge R. Gary Klausner ruled unequivocally that the defendants had indeed broken the law. The details of this case are readily available for anyone to read — including PCC’s leadership and Board of Trustees.

‘In the eyes of anyone who has seen the devastating effects this trespass has had on me personally, creatively and professionally over these many years, in the eyes of my mother and friends who have held me as I’ve cried, and under the blind scrutiny of the law of this land, I am the victim of this “scandal,” not the perpetrator.

‘With this cruel act, PCC’s Administration is punishing the victim. And I ask you this: If I was a heterosexual man or woman with this same painful injury in my past, would PCC’s Administration still be rescinding such an honor?…

‘As PCC Administrators attempt to shame me, they are casting a shadow over all LGBT students at PCC. They are sending the message that LGBT students are to be held to a different standard, that there is something inherently shameful about who we are and how we love, and that no matter what we accomplish in our lives, we will never be worthy of PCC’s praise.’

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Every time Clint Eastwood decides to make a music-based movie there seems to be surprise. His tough guy image makes people overlook that he’s a man with a love of jazz who’s actually made quite a few movies that could be classed as musicals, from Bird to Honkytonk Man.

However Jersey Boys is his first directorial outing based on a proved Broadway hit. And now we get our first look with a trailer and poster.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film tells the story of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons. The story of their trials and triumphs are accompanied by the songs that influenced a generation, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Dawn,” “Rag Doll,” “Bye Bye Baby,” “Who Loves You,” and many more.

‘These classic hits are now being embraced by a new generation of fans through the stage musical, which has been running on Broadway for more than eight years and has also enjoyed successful tours around the globe.

#Starring in the film, John Lloyd Young reprises his Tony Award-winning portrayal of the legendary lead singer of The Four Seasons, Frankie Valli. Erich Bergen stars as Bob Gaudio, who wrote or co-wrote all of the group’s biggest hits. Michael Lomenda and Vincent Piazza star respectively as Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito, two original members of The Four Seasons. Oscar® winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter”) stars as mobster Gyp DeCarlo.’

The Immigrant Trailer – Marion Cotillard finds Jeremy Renner & Joaquin Phoenix in America

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Who’d have thought it? When some immigrants got to America in the past, everything was all roses and puppies!

That certainly seems true in James Gray’s The Immigrant, which stars Marion Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jeremy Renner, which premiered last year at Cannes.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ewa Cybulski (Marion Cotillard) and her sister sail to New York from their native Poland in search of a new start and the American dream. When they reach Ellis Island, doctors discover that Magda (Angela Sarafyan) is ill, and the two women are separated. Ewa is released onto the mean streets of Manhattan while her sister is quarantined. Alone, with nowhere to turn and desperate to reunite with Magda, Ewa quickly falls prey to Bruno (Joaquin Phoenix), a charming but wicked man who takes her in and forces her into prostitution. The arrival of Orlando (Jeremy Renner) – a dashing stage magician who is also Bruno’s cousin – restores her self-belief and hopes for a brighter future, becoming her only chance to escape the nightmare in which she finds herself.’

The film hits US cinemas in May. [Read more…]

New The Rover Trailer – Robert Pattinson & Guy Pearce go post-apocalyptic

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Things aren’t going well in Australia in The Rover, as the country has suffered a massive financial crisis that sent many heading for desert mines in the hope of finding their fortune.

Guy Pearce stars as Eric, a drifter living outside normal society. When his car is stolen by a gang of thugs, he enlists the help of Reynolds (Robert Pattinson), a gang member who was abandoned during the chaos.

Now a new trailer for the movie has arrived.

Director David Michod previously commented, “It’s like a new gold rush. Where people from all corners of the world have come out to the desert to scrape out an existence. Petty criminals and miscreants and hustlers. The basic story is really quite elemental. You’ve got a really dark, dangerous, murderous person in Guy’s character, and in Rob’s character you have a quite troubled and damaged, but beautiful and naïve, soul.”

The movie should hit cinemas later this year. [Read more…]

First Pic From Ryan Gosling’s Directorial Debut, Lost River, Debuts

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

LOST-RIVER-pic1-1Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut went into production under the title How To Catch A Monster, but now it’s known as Lost River, and it will be making its debut at the Cannes Film Festival next month.

Ahead of that comes the first picture from the film, featuring Christina Hendricks going into a rather ominous looking building.

The film has been described as being ‘Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, BILLY, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while BONES, her eighteen-year-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.’

Iain De Caestecker, who co-stars in the movie told Empire last year, “There’s my character, Bones, his mother and his younger brother. There’s also a girl next door played by Saoirse Ronan, called Rat. It’s about this family living in a town called Lost River, which is perhaps a place that was once full of family and happiness and love, and is now this town that’s slowly descending into a place without any hope. This family is holding onto the foundations of their house and everything they think they need to hold onto.”

Matt Smith, Ben Mendelsohn, Barbara Steele and Eva Mendes also star.
