Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Trailer – Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lady Gaga & more enter the hyper-stylised world

June 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sin-city-2-character-poster1-slideIf all had been as we were first promised, we’d have been watching Sin City: A Dame To Kill For on 2006. But for various reasons the film was delayed, to the point where many had given up hope. Now it’s coming and we’ve got the first full trailer.

The sequel features the return of Sin City stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis and Rosario Dawson, along with newcomers such as Jamie Chung, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, Josh Brolin (taking over Clive Owen’s role), Ray Liotta, Marton Csokas, Eva Green and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller’s visually stunning “Sin City” graphic novels back to the screen in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. Weaving together two of Miller’s classic stories with new tales, the town’s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR is the follow up to Rodriguez and Miller’s 2005 groundbreaking film, FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY.’

It’s out in the US on August 22nd and in the UK on August 29th. [Read more…]

Josh Brolin Up To Join George Clooney In The Coen Brothers’ Hail Caesar

June 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

josh-brolinThe Coen Brothers are following their pattern of making a small idiosyncratic movie with a more mainstream effort, as after Inside Llewyn Davis they’re putting together Hail Caesar. It already has George Clooney attached and now Deadline reports that Josh Brolin will join him.

The film is about Eddie Mannix, a 1950s fixer who works for major Hollywood studios. His job is to try and keep the movie stars in line and also cover up their indicretions. It isn’t clear who George Clooney and Josh Brolin are portraying at this time.

Joel and Ethan Coen are set to direct from their own script.

Josh Brolin Will Voice Thanos In Guardians of the Galaxy & Beyond

May 31, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

thanos-avengersBack at the end of The Avengers, the post-credits sequence showed us uber-villain Thanos, however since then we haven’t seen anything of him, despite the fact we’ve had Iron Man 3, Thor 2, and Captain America 2. However he’ll be back for Guardians Of The Galaxy, and now Latino Review reports that Josh Brolin will be providing his voice.

Although Guardians won’t be strongly linked into the rest of the Marvel Universe, in a recent article about James Gunn and his post-production process on Guardians of the Galaxy, it suggested that Thanos would appear on a rocket throne, leading into the movie’s big climax. Apparently Thanos will appear on-screen long enough that someone will have to step in and bring him to life (suggesting that perhaps Guardians is technically a prequel to Avengers, as Thanos was alive in that).

Thanos is a member of The Eternals, a group of god-like beings with immense power. Often referred to as ‘The Mad Titan’, Thanos has tried to wipe out earth on many occasions, using his Infinity Gauntlet, which is capable of manipulating time, space, reality and the human soul.

It’s not clear how big a role Thanos will play in the overall story arc of its Phase Two and Three movies. It is believed that The Collector, played by Benicio Del Toro in Guardians of the Galaxy, is on a mission to collect powerful mystical articles that make up the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s version of the Infinity Gauntlet.

As The Avengers suggested Thanos was involved with the events in that movie and in the comics The Avengers and Guardians Of The Galaxy have had to team up to battle him, it may be that Marvel is hoping to eventually bring all of them together for one huge battle.

Chris Pratt In Talks To Replace Josh Brolin In Jurassic World

A few weeks ago it appeared Josh Brolin was going to take the lead in Jurassic World, the latest instalment of the Jurassic Park franchise. However it now seems he’s stepped away as Chris Pratt is in early talks to join the movie, according to TheWrap.

The talks between Universal and Pratt are in the very early stages, and the actor would have to iron out any possible scheduling conflicts between the movie and his sitcom, Parks and Recreation (assuming it is renewed for another season). It’d be a boon for the actor, whose star is set to rise massively next summer with Guardians Of The Galaxy. This would ensure he has another huge movie lined up for June 2015.

The movie is also courting Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man) for a supporting role, although no details were given for that character either. Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins are also onboard, although Idris Elba has also bee rumoured.

Colin Trevorrow is directing from a script he co-wrote with his Safety Not Guaranteed co-scribe, Derek Connolly.

New Labor Day Trailer – Kate Winslet & Josh Brolin star in Jason Reitman’s film

November 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Juno and Young Adult director Jason Reitman is getting a little more serious with Labor Day, and we can get a taste of that in a new trailer, which start Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin.

Reitman has previously said it’s a more straightforward work than his previous movie. ”There’s no cynicism in this movie. There’s no irony in this movie. This one is dramatic, romantic, and has moments of being a thriller — all new things for me. It felt like making my first movie again.”

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Labor Day centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler, who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele while confronting all the pangs of adolescence. On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers, a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict. The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.’

A Christmas Day US release is set, with the film coming to the UK in early 201 [Read more…]

When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, OLDBOY was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.’
