Boyd Holbrook In Talks To Be Wolverine 3’s Villain

April 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Boyd-HolbrookHugh Jackman has suggested that after the next Wolverine movie he’ll be done with the character (although he’s said that before), so if this is his swansong, you’d hope he’d have a good baddie to fight against. Now we may know who’ll be playing that villain, as Deadline reports that Narcos star Boyd Holbrook is in talks for the role.

Not a vast amount is known about who Holbrook will be playing, and there’s not too much point speculating as it appears that rather than finding someone from the comics, Holbrook will play an original character who’s causing Wolverine some trouble. However, it has been revealed he’ll be ‘a relentless, calculating and intense head of security for a global enterprise’.

James Mangold will once more direct the movie, which is currently set for release March 2017. The movie will also see Patrick Stewart return as the older Professor Xavier.

Spider-Man Stand-alone Movie Will Include Other Marvel Characters

April 10, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

captain-america-civil-war-spider-manIt surprised many when it was announced that Marvel and Sony had done a deal that would allows Spider-man to show up in Captain America: Civil War, as well as for Marvel to provide some creative direction for a new stand-alone Spidey movie. What wasn’t clear at the time was whether that would mean any of the Marvel universe character would show up in the Spider-man film.

Now it appears that they will, as EW reports that Marvel head honcho told them that while it will be a Sony movie, other Marvel characters are likely to appear too. He says, “[Spider-Man] is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth.”

However, there’s no news on what characters might show up.

Bringing Spider-man into the Marvel universe seems to be paying off, as in early reports from critics screenings of Civil War, Tom Holland’s take on the web-slinger has come in for particular praise. He’ll also play the character in the stand-alone film, planned for 2017, with Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Jon Watts will direct.

Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Dominic Cooper & More Get Warcraft: The Beginning Character Posters

April 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

warcraft-character-poster1-slideAfter a very long wait, the film version of Warcraft is almost upon us. The trailers we’ve had have tended to concentrate on the movie’s intricate fantasy world, so it’s worth releasing this new set of character posters, which introduce to some of the people and creatures we’ll get to meet.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another.  As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction.  From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.

‘So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

‘Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Jones, the film starring Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Rob Kazinsky and Daniel Wu is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production.’

The movie will be in cinemas on May 30th. [Read more…]

Bad Neighbours 2 Red Band Trailer – Seth Rogen and Zac Efron get a little more rude

April 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bad-neighbours-2-zac-efron-shirtlessOver the past couple of years, if there’s been Red Band trailer for a Zac Efron movie, you could pretty much guarantee it would feature him in a state of semi-undress at some point. Now we have one for Neighbours 2 which does offer some slow-motion Zac shirtlessness and tiny orange shorts, but it appears that Seth Rogen also wanted to show off his pecs (or lack thereof), as he’s equally topless.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Now that Mac (Set Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) have a second baby on the way, they are ready to make the final move into adulthood: the suburbs.  But just as they thought they’d reclaimed the neighborhood and were safe to sell, they learn that the new occupants next door are a sorority even more out of control than Teddy (Zac Efron) and his brothers ever dreamed of being. Tired of their school’s sexist, restrictive system, the unorthodox ladies of Kappa Nu have decided to start a house where they can do whatever the hell they want.

‘When Shelby (Chloe Moretz) and her sisters, Beth (Kiersey Clemons) and Nora (Beanie Feldstein), find the perfect place just off campus, they won’t let the fact that it’s located on a quiet street stand in their way of parties as epic as the guys throw. Forced to turn to the one ex-neighbor with the skills to bring down the new Greeks next door, the Radners—alongside best friends Jimmy (Ike Barinholtz) and Paula (Carla Gallo)—bring in charismatic Teddy as their secret weapon.  If he can infiltrate the sorority and charm his way through it, the thirtysomethings will shutter the Kappas’ home.  But if they think that their neighbors are going down without a fight, they have severely underestimated the power of youthful ingenuity and straight-up crazy.’

It’ll be in cinemas in May. [Read more…]

David Brent: Life on the Road Teaser Trailer – Ricky Gervais returns to his Office creation

April 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

david-brent-quad-slideWhile there are still people who cringe at the very thought of Ricky Gervais as David Brent in The Office, there’s no doubt he was an incredibly popular character for many. Now Gervais is bringing him back for a movie, David Brent: Life on the Road, which has just released its first teaser.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD sees the highly anticipated big screen debut of one of comedy’s best-loved characters, David Brent (Ricky Gervais). The film catches up with Brent twelve years on from the BBC mockumentary ‘The Office’ to find he is now a travelling salesman with Lavichem, a cleaning and ladies’ personal hygiene products company. However, he hasn’t given up on his dream of rock stardom and is about to embark on a self-financed UK tour with his band, ‘Foregone Conclusion’.

‘Assembling a group of session musicians who are just in it for the money, and talented rapper Dom (Ben Bailey Smith) in an attempt to gain street cred, Brent cashes in his pensions and takes unpaid leave in a bid to turn his dream into reality. Get ready to join David Brent on the road as he takes one last shot at fame and fortune.

‘DAVID BRENT: LIFE ON THE ROAD is written, directed by and stars Ricky Gervais, with original music and lyrics by Gervais, musical arrangement by Andy Burrows (Razorlight, We Are Scientists) and raps by Ben Bailey Smith.’

Take a look at the teaser below. [Read more…]

Ryan Reynolds May Take On The Rosie Project

April 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ryan-reynolds-slideNot too long ago The Rosie Project looked like it was going to bring together the interesting duo of Jennifer Lawrence and Richard Linklater. However when she decided to make Darren Aronofsky’s next film, they both left the film behind.

However, Sony is still very keen on the film and it appears they may have found a new lead, as Variety reports that Ryan Reynolds is currently circling The Rosie Project. It doesn’t look like there’s a new director as yet though.

The film is based on the Graeme Simsion novel, which is about a socially awkward genetics professor [which is presumably Reynolds’ role], who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate – only to see those theories splintered when he meets the spontaneous Rosie Jarman, who possesses the opposite qualities. However, he becomes increasingly intrigued by Rosie’s quest to find her biological father.

It’s not clear when it might shoot.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer – Felicity Jones has a very important mission in a galaxy far, far away

April 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

rogue-one-trailer-slideNow this is an interesting one. There was a lot riding on the trailer for Rogue One after the success of The Force Awakens, as not only did it have to show it wasn’t a follow-up to last year’s movie but it also needed to show those uncertain about it that it wasn’t just a shameless cash-in on the Star Wars name.

I think it’s fair to say it does a great job, displaying a darker, more adult tone, while showing an impressive feel for the look of the original Star Wars trilogy, mixed with some very modern special effects. It’s not surprising they have gone for that slightly 1970s look, as the film is set just before A New Hope.

The film follows the mission that got hold of the Death Star plans that played such a vital role in the first movie. And after the success of Rey, the trailer introduces us to another strong heroine in the form of Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso. Take a look at the trailer below.

The movie hits cinemas in December. [Read more…]

Get A Fresh Look At Benedict Cumberbatch As Doctor Strange

April 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

doctor-strange-pic2Benedict Cumberbatch could either be brilliant or horribly miscast in Doctor Strange, but he certainly looks the part. Just after Christmas we got our first look at him as the Marvel hero, and now a new image of him in the role has dropped, as you can see above.

Cumberbatch will play Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Marvel Comics artist Steve Ditko created the character in 1963. Tilda Swinton will play Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will appear as Baron Mordo, who also studies magic under the Ancient One in the comic books, before becoming Doctor Strange’s nemesis. Mads Mikelsen is also onboard to play an as yet unnamed villain, who EW says, is ‘a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect… he believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through.’

Scott Derrickson is directing the movie. It’ll be in cinemas November 2016. We should be getting a trailer soon.

The BFG Trailer – Steven Spielberg takes us into Roald Dahl’s giant world

April 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bfg-teaser-poster-slideA couple of month ago we had a fun little teaser for The BFG, but it didn’t show us much, other than it was about two people – one very small, and the other so enormous we only saw his hand. Now we get to see a lot more, with a new trailer introducing us to the giant’s world, and the fact that jut because you’re a giant, doesn’t mean there aren’t even bigger people out there.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“The BFG” is the exciting tale of a young London girl and the mysterious Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, “The BFG” (Big Friendly Giant) was published in 1982 and has been enchanting readers of all ages ever since. Dahl’s books, which also include “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “James and the Giant Peach,” “Matilda” and “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” are currently available in 58 languages and have sold over 200 million copies worldwide.

‘From the minds of two of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl and Steven Spielberg – THE BFG will see a UK release on July 22nd 2016.’ Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Charlize Theron Re-Teaming With Diablo Cody & Jason Reitman For A New Film

April 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

charlize-theronSome loved 2011’s Young Adult while others were far less impressed, but some of the creative team are getting back together. Deadline reports that Charlize Theron is loosely attached to a new script by Diablo Cody (Juno), which Jason Reitman is attached to direct.

Everything is in the early stages, to the point where no plot details have been released, other than that it centres around motherhood.

There was a lot of interest in Young Adult, partly because it reunited Reitman and Cody after the Oscar winning success of Juno. Despite a largely positive critical reaction (although with qualifications), it didn’t really find much interest from audience, only grossing $22 million at cinemas around the world. Hopefully the new film will find a bit more success.
